Hi all, just checking in. 29 weeks today (vintagegirl77 I conceived this one at 41, having been told my reserve hormone levels were so bad as to be virtually hopeless, so don't give up).
We have had a challenging few weeks. DD, who has had a series of chest infections this winter, was referred to paediatric assessment unit at hospital after the latest infection had gone on for 2 weeks, resisting steroids and 2 courses of antibiotics, and resulting in the poor wee soul crying in pain every time she coughed. We went up for an x-ray, expecting to be given more powerful drugs. She was discharged 8 days later, following the discovery of a totally collapsed lung, surgery to insert a chest drain which stayed in for 2 days, lots of x-rays and a ct scan. They have sent us home for 2 weeks with strong antibiotics to see if the massive cysts they discovered in her lung are due to an infection (unlikely), congenital (most likely and will require lung surgery to remove the cysts) or something worse.
8 days in hospital with a scared, exhausted 4-year-old who had regressed a good 2 years and was so overwhelmed she mainly communicated by screaming, fighting everyone and ripping off her sensors and oxygen nose prong things, was not very much fun. Hoping against hope she doesn't need further surgery because I'm not sure I could go through that again.
Glad to hear fantastic scan results for Loopy and sunny
