Congratulations Snoopy!! What lovely news! Wishing you and your little one all the best xx

Hi ladies. Have woken up feeling very unconfident about this pregnancy. Think maybe I had a dream my period was coming or something.
I've been having strange popping/gurgling in my uterus the last few days! Has anyone else experienced this? I've had this before when af has been due. And feel like my boobs don't hurt as much. Can't tell if I'm just being overly sensitive to everything! Starting to get real anxiety about my scan next week!
Scan is booked for tues when I'd be 8 weeks. I was thinking of delaying it a bit as my longest 2 preg stopped at 8 weeks 1 day but now wonder if I should just stick with tues Sad

annaif · 17/05/2016 12:47

Congratulations snoopy and many thanks for PM-ing me the new thread!

Billy, go with your gut instinct for the scan, if you had a bad previous experience with 8w+1d then if you waited until 8.5w you'd be beyond your "danger" zone and feel much better after? It's always difficult with testing early and getting prolonged scanxiety as a result, I was a total wreck the whole 9 weeks of my last pregnancy and feel for you hon. Hand holding....

I have a few questions that hopefully you lovely ladies will be able to answer:

  1. What supplements you may have been taking whilst ttc did you actually stop taking after BFP? I am thinking things like DHEA, coQ10, NAC, myo-inosytol etc....
  2. A friend under Shehata's care started having bad erm intestinal issues after 7 cycles on the pred and after calling the clinic they suggested a break of 1-2 cycles off the steroids after taking them for 6 consecutive months: have you been told the same and were you asked to stop ttc for this "break"?
  3. What is this new wobenzym you guys are talking about and what is it supposed to do?! I don't want to throw it onto doctor Google, best to get some first hand experience on this!

thank you lovely peeps, hope you're all enjoying the sunshine Flowers

Seekingmiracles · 17/05/2016 14:56

Billy, no one can tell you what is right for you regarding scans. I completely understand how nerve wracking it is though. Just because your last pregnancy ended at 8+1, doesn't mean this one will. Each pregnancy is different. And while it may make you feel better to wait, inevitably it won't change the end result. I personally needed to see the hb as soon as possible as I felt like I was imagining it all. And at 8 weeks, despite your previous loss it's quite unusual to miscarry. Go with your gut instinct and just know that each day that passes your little one is getting stronger and stronger.

Anna I took CoQ10 and DHEA. Personally had no issues but some people are wary of DHEA. There's some conditions where it's not advisable ( I think PCOS)

karryk · 17/05/2016 15:59

Sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers whatever you decide. Personally I think I'd want to go for the scan just to know where things stand - I can totally appreciate how nerve-wracking it is though xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

While I'm here....has anyone else experienced minor abdominal discomfort while on the prednisolone? I don't mean a tummy upset, more that below my belly is slightly crampy (on and off, not really painful, more annoying) and it feels like someone's pumped some air into me! I had this last month as well but it only seems to strike a few days into the course (I'm on day 4 of taking them now)...

X

Tumtimes1 · 18/05/2016 09:57

Hi guys - WOW SNOOPY that is brilliant news! I'm so happy for you. Hooray! Huge congratulations!!

Billy I had numerous dreams that things were going wrong. I would wake up and have a bad feeling regularly. Its all normal and doesn't mean anything. I promise you. Have the scan when you want to have the scan, it wont change anything either way. Totally whatever you want to do xxx

Karryk YES!! this pregnancy I had MAJOR cramping and diarreahoa actually on the prednisolone. WAS NOT my friend. I took omrazapole (or however you spell it) which helped some.

Tumtimes1 · 18/05/2016 10:23

I also would like any info on the Wobenzym if anyone has it? x

Hula2 · 18/05/2016 10:58

Hi all,

For those that were looking for the wobenzym info here s the link to the german study:

natural-fertility-info.com/wp-content/uploads/WobenzymNStudy.pdf

Q10 is meant to be good for egg quality. Ubiquionol version is better absorbed. I was taking 300mg a day. I tried low dose dhea 25mg for 2 wks and it messed my cycle up (didn t ovulate and then had 18 day cycle !) but i m very sensitive to hormones and even pred messed my cycle if i took it on a natural cycle rather than a superov cycle. You need to make sure you get the micronised version.

When i was doing treatment i was also advised advised to take a break after 6 months.

Billy - keeping everything crossed for a positive scan for you.

Snoopy - hope all is going well and you and dh are settling in well with your new little addition !

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 18/05/2016 16:47

Hi everyone, I'm still reading and thinking of you all.

We came home yesterday afternoon, had to spend the night in because of ventouse delivery and episiotomy. Basically labour happened far too quickly (ironically). From broken waters to regular contractions was an hour, from first contraction to 10 cm was four hours, then another four hours of pushing. She was stuck in a slightly odd angle and the midwives finally admitted defeat and rushed me to a doctor who helped suck her out. There were some really traumatic moments when her heart trace couldn't be found because of the stupid anterior placenta but apparently she was never distressed.

I can't believe she's here. Apparently she is a carbon (slightly larger) copy of me, right down to the tongue tie I had which is making feeding hard but my DH and my mum have been brilliant.

She wouldn't be here without you all and all your amazing support

Tumtimes1 · 19/05/2016 10:18

Hi Snoopy wow sounds like a whirlwind and at times stressful experience. How lovely that you have your little lady with you now, and a mini you!

The next few days may be a bit surreal (I found this personally) and that coupled with the sleep thing could mean you feel like you're in a lovely strange dream. :-) I'm so happy for you, lovely days are ahead xx

Marmiteontoast76 · 21/05/2016 14:03

Hi all on this thread. Can I jump on board? I'm seeing Dr Shetata soon after 2 miscarriages where babies died at around 14 and 17 weeks (have dcs ages 6 and 4, problem free pregnancies but was early 30s then, now nearly 40). NHS have picked up that I have thyroid antibodies level 100 which indicates autoimmune issues. Anyone else have these pesky thyroid antibodies? NHS suggest levothyroxine for treating them although there isn't much evidence out there to prove it works for antibodies and pregnancy.

Seekingmiracles · 21/05/2016 21:02

Wow sounds stressful Snoopy! But so glad she made it into the world safely. Hope you're settling in at home and enjoying your sweet little girl Smile

Marmite - sorry for your losses. I can't imagine losing a baby so late. I haven't got any experience of thyroid issues but I can assure you that DrS is a very clever man. Despite lack of 'medical evidence' to support his work there are A LOT of ladies who've had success on his treatment plan despite the NHS and their conservative treatment.
My consultant quite clearly thought little of DrS but I pointed out that this current pregnancy is the furthest I've ever got (currently 18weeks). And I'd risk the side effects of prednisolone for a healthy baby 10 times over... Which she seemed to agree with.
When is your appointment?

OP posts:
Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 22/05/2016 10:22

Hi marmite, little bit more time to type now.

I would echo what seeking has said, dr Shehata has had a lot of success with his treatment and he's definitely not the only doctor looking at the immunological reasons behind miscarriage.

If the NHS have suggested taking thyroxine I personally would do that, I was diagnosed hypothyroid before I ever ttc and thyroxine won't do any harm even if it does no good.

If you see dr s and decide you'd like to speak to another doctor who has a similar treatment plan then I have seen a lot of praise for prof quenby and bronsen at Coventry. Dr s would test your blood but prof quenby would do a uterine biopsy but ultimately they treat the same issues. Prof quenby is a one off fee for the biopsy but if she identifies a problem your treatment is then free on the NHS, because despite her success over the last two decades her work is still classed as 'research'. If you google 'prof quenby coventry' a number will come up for her secretary and they seem very happy to discuss options with people over the phone.

If you would like to look at more options the ladies on this thread have compiled a spreadsheet of the various doctors and treatment plans they have followed and they also have a Facebook page they can add you to if you would like www.mumsnet.com/Talk/miscarriage/2461442-Recurrent-Miscarriage-Support-Thread-30-Support-for-Tests-Treatments-and-Trying-Again

Ultimately it is your choice but maybe attend your consultation and see how you feel?

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 22/05/2016 10:25

Thanks seeking. I'm a bit of a hormonal mess this morning haha she had hiccups and she made me think of the film Dumbo, then I thought of that song in Dumbo and I started blubbering all over her Confused

Tumtimes1 · 22/05/2016 13:40

Hi marmite welcome to the thread. I'm so sorry about your losses. You're in the right place we all support each other here. Xx

snoopy I cried and cried and cried when I had my daughter. Once I cried when I felt hungry. Normal normal normal behaviour. And anyway dumbo is a very sad film! X

Marmiteontoast76 · 22/05/2016 14:38

Thanks for the info all. I'll jump back on next week after my appointment with Dr S. Nervous already.

karryk · 23/05/2016 07:24

Welcome, Marmite :) x

Love hearing your updates Snoopy - adorable! X

Tumtimes1 · 23/05/2016 11:23

Billy how are you dong? x

Tumtimes1 · 23/05/2016 11:39

*doing

billy15 · 23/05/2016 13:25

Hi ladies. I hope everyone's doing well.

Welcome marmite. I'm so so sorry for your loses. You've come to the right place!
I too have the thyroid antibodies, dr s treats them with the prednisolone and kinda dismissed lexythyroxine when I mentioned it to him.

My scan is tomorrow 9am. Feeling surprisingly calm at the moment, especially considering the last week I've not really felt like there's anything there, if you know what I mean? And have been feeling a bit crampy.
Praying and hoping for a healthy, strong heartbeat! Send your best good scan vibes ladies!! It all feels very surreal and I keep telling myself I'm still on the two week wait!! Xx

karryk · 23/05/2016 14:34

Best of luck Billy! Sending lots and lots of positive vibes :) x

Noticed some spotting so not sure if this is a repeat of last month. There's no cramping this time so that's different but will know either way tomorrow. June was my due date for the little bean that we lost last year so I'm not looking forward to it :(

Tumtimes1 · 23/05/2016 14:50

I am sending you all my positive good vibes - and lots of love! Keep us posted, will be thinking of you xxx

Seekingmiracles · 23/05/2016 15:52

Good luck tomorrow Billy, I'm sure tomorrow will be absolutely fine. Will you be 8 weeks?

Karry - due dates anniversaries are always hard. Try to do something nice for you. And good luck for testing!

Tum how far are you now? Feeling ok?
