Hello everyone [waves shyly]

New here. I used to be on other TTC threads but stopped after 8 months.

Went to the GP yesterday for my blood test results. She said something about some levels (I think SHBG) and that I might have PCOS and I am not releasing mature eggs.

She requested and appointment to look at my ovaries.

This is all new to me.

I am 35 and TTC #1. I never thought I had PCOS as I get periods every 23 to 27 days. But my hair starting thinning 10 years ago... (That is another story)

I hope I can get advice and support from some lovely people in this chat. Very new to me.

And hope, some hope as well

Thank you for the welcome Shell and Glitter

Hi Ever! Nice to see a familiar face, although I'm sure none of us would choose to be here if we could! I was wondering where you had got to the other day actually.
I'm guessing you are waiting on a scan to look at if there are multiple cysts on your ovaries. Fx you don't have to wait too long.
Well done on the weight loss too!

That's an interesting graphic you put up Shell with the pcos symptoms. My hair is quite thin, (I have very curly hair, but it's not thick like everyone thinks it is) and I have quite pendulous boobs too.

I'm on CD9 today and I'm still bloody spotting. Does anyone else get strange periods? Mine starts off light for 2 days, then practically stops and then 2 heavy days and then spotting for another 3 days. And I spot for almost a week before AF arrived too.

Pug Smile I took a break from mumsnet because this whole TTC was too much.
I also went away and got engaged GrinGrin
I am soooo hoping they give me an appointment soon! DP has his sperm test at the end of June and they we are going to see the GP together beginning of July Confused

Really just trying to get my head around this PCOS thing hoping they can confirm and tell me what is happening inside.

I have regular periods (23 to 27 days is that regular?)

Shellbell0403 · 04/06/2016 14:50

Evergreen Congrats on the engagement! Unfortunately they don't really go into much detail about it when go to the consultant. They will send u for scans etc and tests. Then poss treatment depending on bmi etc! Best people for knowledge are all on this page 😁 Regular and between 28-32 normally but maybe Urs is ok that way.

pug i have thin hair too. Didn't really think much of it haha and use thickening shampoo lol. Have you had scans etc? Sorry if Iv asked already lol...

Ps we also have a WhatsApp group with a few if you fancy joining it also. A good laugh xx

Hi everyone, welcome newbies!

Nothing to report here. In my 2ww. 2nd cycle of clomid (2 left if this doesn't work) i'm so worried it'll thin my lining too much.

glitterpoppy · 04/06/2016 17:59

How do I pm you shell? Sorry for all the questions Confused

glitterpoppy · 04/06/2016 18:02

Congratulations Ever! That's wonderful news!

23-27 days sounds regular to me.

I go from 28-44 days.

The last scan I had was when I was diagnosed 5 years ago Shell. I had blood tests at the same time to check LH, FSH, thyroid and glucose. Thyroid and glucose were normal but the FSH and LH levels were quite different and my scan showed lots of little cysts all over both ovaries so they came up with the diagnosis. I don't have acne and I have a small amount of dark hair on my top lip that I manage myself.

From my research I believe I should also be tested for oestridiol and testosterone? And day 21 progesterone (although how I'm supposed to work that out with my cycles?)
Once I've lost a bit more weight I'm going to go to the GP and ask.

I shall pm you my number for the whatsapp group.

VillageFete · 04/06/2016 19:51

Hey Shell Do I pm you my number? How are you & where are you up to in your cycle? X

Shellbell0403 · 04/06/2016 21:50

Yes please village I'm OK, still in my 2WW. Ovulation was confirmed xx

Thank you Shell. I am terrible at asking questions at the doctors, I just sit there and then leave and forget half the stuff and all the questions come to my mind then.
Shell and pug, I too have thinning hair bad Sad I used to go the doctor to ask why but they never really did much so just coping with it but it upsets me terribly

Reading on line how to manage pcos naturally and it seems to be about avoiding sugar. Bah. This is not an easy thing to do. I am already losing weight with weight watchers but now I have to be super extra good with my diet on top.
I am tired and I can feel another period coming Sad

I hope that doctors help me with this TTC as it wont happen on my own, with the low SHBG Sad

Village do they only give you clomid for 4 cycles? I have everything crossed for you. I worry that you have to go to the doctors lots for the clomid and that I will be in trouble at work...

Evergreen17 · 05/06/2016 07:34

Shell i love whatsapp! Can I come play? Blush

Shellbell0403 · 05/06/2016 09:15

evergreen if your losing weight with WW ans having treats and still losing weight then just stick to that!! Depending where u are and stuff then u need to go to the hospital for scans etc when taking the tabs!
Of course u can! Sometimes works out better as get notifications than remembering about this a few days later haha

Hi girls,

I hope that all is well. I haven't had access to the computer for a while and having been thinking of all of you! How is everyone?

My husband and I were in Canada this past week and a bit. He only stay for three days. OMG it brought be right back to being a sneaky teenager in my parents home! Even though DH and I are married I still find it horribly uncomfortable dtd with him in my parents home! But desperate calls call for desperate measures: provera, metformin, clomid, ovitrelle...too much invested in all this!

Shell i'm also on my 2ww and it is killing me! So glad to hear that your bloods indicated that you ovulated!

Poptart21 · 06/06/2016 11:19

should have edited that! desperate times call for desperate measures!

Shellbell0403 · 06/06/2016 19:43

Hey pop how was ur trip? How far in to 2ww are you?
Where are you from BTW? Xx
