Thread for anyone TTC for over ten months. Please feel free to join us!

Took the liberty of starting a new thread (with what is obviously a brilliant piece of rhyme!) as I assume everyone else is sleeping peacefully right now :)

Yeah, Im hoping to get it in a few days before the cut off, but God knows if I'll manage it or not!

I never had af symptoms before the pill but since coming off it I get nightmare headaches a few days before. I've only had af cramps before she arrives last month and this month, which is a bit weird. I usually get horrible ones the first day of af, then they go away. I have no evidence to back this up, but I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about, having ni symptoms. everyone's just different. But maybe someone with more knowledge will know more :) And my boobs only hurt if ive been prodding them too! :)

I missed your update bean!! That's good news - good luck for transfer later today, we are all thinking of you.

Thanks MPP I can't remember what my periods were like pre pill (definitely heavier!) but not sure about pre AF symptoms. Got nothing on pill and nothing now. Hope it's just normal for me then!

Can't help but read into everything when TTC!!

bananafish81 · 13/05/2016 11:09

Good luck bean - get those little fighters back on board! Go and rock the socks (literally!) off this transfer xx

lucieloos · 13/05/2016 11:15

Good luck bean! That's brilliant news.

Sammy, have a lovely holiday and great you can get going with your next cycle ASAP.

I am in lots of pain today. Really severe stomach pain and pressure. I'm not sure if it's normal or not. The nurse said most people report symptoms the worst between day 3 and 5 and it's day 3 for me today. It's hurts to sit down on my bum because of pressure and hurts to even walk around. I have taken the strong painkillers they gave me which takes the edge of slightly but doesn't numb the pain. Thank god it's the weekend tomorrow.

JustTrixie · 13/05/2016 11:24

Wow what a turn around Bean. Good luck with transfer, have my fingers crossed for you.

Sammy, glad you are sorted with your treatment. Have an amazing time in Tenerife!

Banana, yay to having started stims!

Lucie, glad the injection is out of the way. Sorry to hear you are suffering though Flowers hope the pain subsides very soon.
I drowned my sorrows after my BFNs but whatever happens this time I'm going to stay off the wine in solidarity with you. I had my intralipids yesterday (take that NK cells!!!!) was fine. Really helped that you had posted that yours were fine.

I am going to be so late for work! Scan was supposed to be at 9 45 but didn't go in until 10 30 then had to see the nurse to go through everything for EC and waiting to see Dr now....

lucieloos · 13/05/2016 11:39

Aww thanks Trixie that's really nice of you. At least we are staying nice and healthy for our next rounds without the alcohol. I have a good feeling for you this time though so I'm hoping you might be staying off the alcohol for other reasons! Glad the intralipids went ok. Nothing to worry about at all. Hope they don't keep you there too much longer.

bananafish81 · 13/05/2016 11:45

lucie you poor thing. Don't know if the hospital advised you of this already, but if you're on strong painkillers, would definitely get some lactulose (and poss senna as well) - as one of the side effects of opioids like codeine is they will bung you up good and proper. Says the voice of experience of 15 years of long term opioid therapy!!

lucieloos · 13/05/2016 12:22

Oh thanks banana! I do feel bunged up and I wondered if that was contributing to the pain as I feel like I need to go but can't. Where can I get lactulose and senna?

lucieloos · 13/05/2016 12:25

Ahh actually I think I have senna or senokat in the house banana. I was a bit worried about taking it as last time I did it gave me diarrhoea lol. I might give it a go tonight though.

bananafish81 · 13/05/2016 12:34

Get lactulose from the chemist. It's a vile tasting sweet gloopy liquid but it's deffo the best place to start. Try that before senna. Senna is a stimulant which might be, er, a bit more stimulating than you possibly need right now. Try the lactulose first - any chemist will sell it, just ask the pharmacist x

Panda1985 · 13/05/2016 12:40

Gosh this board moves quickly, I need to be checking more regularly to keep up! Smile

Good luck Bean!
Hope it's sunny in Tenerife Sammy! I'm off to Scotland next week but i think I've missed all the nice weather.
Hope you feel better soon Lucie
Maple I never have pre AF symptoms either and have always wondered if it means something too. I thought maybe my hormone levels weren't very strong but bloods seemed OK.

Back from the GP and most of it was as expected, positive ANA which is probably due to my arthritis and something to do with cardiolipin IgM. It's all confusing to me! The thing which has me freaking out is apparently I have a mutated MTHFR gene, anyone else come across this? In any event I've emailed about an appointment at Care in Nottingham because I figure me trying to decipher all this isn't very worthwhile!

bananafish81 · 13/05/2016 12:47

MTHFR which in my head is the mother fucker gene is to do with folate absorption - just means you need to be on prescription strength folic acid or possibly a different form of folate I think. It's something folate related anyway!

maplebaby · 13/05/2016 12:54

Haha I read it as mother fucker gene too Grin panda that's what I was worried about - hormones not strong enough but my bloods came back normal too - glad I'm not the only one!

Lucie I'm sorry you feel rotten Sad hope the lactulose or Senna works for you and that when it works you will feel a bit better and the pressure is relieved.

Trixie I hope you were too late for work in the end!

JustTrixie · 13/05/2016 13:19

Didn't get to work until 12.30....and I'm off for the next two weeks so lots to do. Think there are 21 follicles at the mo and they would hope to collect 17 (which would be amazing) quite a few only seem to be around the 12mm mark though.
Waiting to hear from the hospital now as to whether EC is Monday or Tuesday. Tuesday would give the smaller ones a chance to catch up but I worry about losing the bigger ones and also DH is all organised to take Monday off work.

Panda, I have the heterozygous MTHFR mutation. Like Banana says its to do with folate absorption. I can't remember the figures but I only absorb a certain % of folate so have to have a higher dose of folic acid. My Dr. prescribed me 5mg tablets. However I saw an immunology specialist at the beginning of the year though and he said taking 800mcg (so just double the normal dose) is fine so I kind of alternate.

I hope so Lucie, feel like I have a better chance this time with the intralipids and higher dose of pred (have noticed the effects on my skin too!) are you feeling any better?

lucieloos · 13/05/2016 13:27

Ah yes Trixie I love the smooth skin after pred! Think you have a really good chance and lots of eggs by the sound of it too so lots of frosties. You going to end up with a football squad of babies! I've just taking my second lot of painkillers. I'm so tired I have to go out and have a 30 min nap in the car!

Banana, thank you will seek out some lactulose!

Brenna24 · 13/05/2016 15:08

Sorry you feel so crap Lucie Lactulose is far gentler than senna. I would definitely start on that.

Best of luck Bean. I really hope this works out for you.

Glad the results are in Panda. I hope that they lead to some treatment that helps.

My bits are still intact so far. I had some fun in Tesco's last night as well. I popped in there after my volunteering to get the ingredients to make the cakes I am doing for people for this weekend. I bumped into this guy several times on the way round, then he collared me at the icing sugar with the line "Are you making cakes this weekend?" (no shit sherlock my trolley was full of flour, sugar, eggs, butter etc). He then chatted away for a bit until it was very obvious that I was getting chatted up. I did eventually manage to drop my husband into the conversation and then we politely parted ways. I have been felling very fat and frumpy with all the weight I have put on during the pregnancies and miscarriages, plus very useless as a woman. I feel quite good again now. He was pretty hot too. Grin DH was highly amused when I told him after I had picked him up from dropping off the bus we use to transport the kids. Then it was home to DTD (with DH naturally Wink ).

I baked one of the cakes before work this morning, so I am on a bit of a roll now.

maplebaby · 13/05/2016 15:33

Brenna!! I totally read that first as if you did some naughty business in tescos!!! My bits are still intact so far - I had some fun in tescos last night as well. BlushWinkGrin

Bahaha ahh it's so nice to get a confidence boost like that! Hope the baking went well! What did you bake?

Brenna24 · 13/05/2016 15:40

Grin Grin Grin That is hilarious. No, I managed to behave myself in tescos. Any damage to my bits occurred later in the privacy (sort of - DDog has no shame and will occasionally climb on the bed and fall asleep on our feet) of our bedroom.

I made a chocolate and guinness cake this morning. This evening I need to make a chocolate chip cake to go on top of the chocolate and guiness for the baby shower cake. Then I need to do two huge rectangular victoria sponges for a cake for my friend's church's pentecost party. And ice most of the above. Then back in bed for round 9 of this month's efforts.

maplebaby · 13/05/2016 15:46

Glad you managed to control yourself in tesco. I shut DCat out of the room when we dtd but often find him sat outside waiting / listening in.

Wow good luck with all the baking - I've made cupcakes before for a wedding and totally went off baking for a few months!! I love chocolate Guinness cake - which recipe do you use, I like the hummingbird bakery one Smile

stealthbanana · 13/05/2016 15:47

bean wow that is such an improvement on where you were yesterday. Cheering on your embies!

brenna chocolate and Guinness cake sounds lush

lucie sorry you're feeling crap

Love the motherfucker gene - thought it was just me that read it that way Grin Luckily it's eminently treatable if you do have it.

Happy Friday everyone!

JustTrixie · 13/05/2016 15:58

Have you been at work Lucie? I assumed you were at home, hopefully you can get away soon.

Grin Brenna! excellent work on the DTD and cake making front.

Just had a call from the hospital and EC is Tuesday, poor DH is going to have to rearrange his work load.

Brenna24 · 13/05/2016 22:24

Goo luck Trixie.

I use Nigella's recipe. With 0% fat greek yoghurt instead of soured cream.

lucieloos · 13/05/2016 23:12

Yes Trixie I was in work today. I haven't told them about all this and I just couldn't take another sick day so soon after the last lot. Just hope I start feeling better before Monday now. Sorry that EC has changed and you are going to have to rearrange things. Nice to have an extra day for them to grow though.

On another note can't believe the motherhood challenge has started again on facebook...grrrrr

BorisIsBack · 14/05/2016 08:29

Lucie I'm with you on the F.ing motherhood challenge it's been driving me mad. it's not a challenge, it's just smug ridiculous marketing ploy.

BorisIsBack · 14/05/2016 08:32

Ps hope you are feeling better lucie? That's what I came here to ask!

And Trixie good luck for next week - I hope your folicles behave to plan.

Bean - I'm cheering on your embies the Pom Poms are out for your little miracles.
