Thread for anyone TTC for over ten months. Please feel free to join us!

Took the liberty of starting a new thread (with what is obviously a brilliant piece of rhyme!) as I assume everyone else is sleeping peacefully right now :)

lucieloos · 20/04/2016 09:03

Banana, just wanted to say thank you for your message to me. Sometimes it's hard to feel positive myself now and I worry things won't work out for us but it was good that somebody from the outside looking in still thought that I had a decent chance of getting pregnant with the number of frosties that I have.

I'm so pleased that the hysto is all booked in and you can get on with that and hopefully this whole nightmare will be over for your shortly. Do you have to wait for af to arrive before starting stimms or do you just crack on straight away?

bananafish81 · 20/04/2016 09:12

lucie you totally do. Stepping aside from the emotional bit, law of averages says you do. You know an embryo can successfully implant (very big tick). Statistically half of your blasts are likely to be good. Ergo there's no reason you haven't got at least one baby on ice. AND you have a fresh NHS go at some point in the future. I know you are a planner like me, so I shan't say 'just take some mental time out ' (although we both know that's the proper advice!)

Thinking of you

Given two D&Cs I hope there isn't any lining left to have an AF of any kind!!

Letter from consultant suggests we can get going asap "as soon as her hormone levels were to return to normal, then we would be keen to repeat a stimulated cycle"

So I'm hoping once hCG is officially zero we can get cracking!

lucieloos · 20/04/2016 09:16

Thanks Banana, that's the bit I need to get back into my head really that this can work for us. Before all this I was feeling fairly confident that we had a decent number of blasts and could top up with one or two more maybe and we also had another NHS round but that's all been knocked out of me at the moment although I'm trying hard to get back there.

Ahh I see I hadn't thought about that with your d&cs and the lining. Hopefully you will be able to get going ASAP then. You've waited long enough now.

MPP81 · 20/04/2016 09:22

Congratulations Stealth!!! That's fantastic news! Grin

Banana fab news on having the appointment booked next week! Hopefully you'll be starting again soon after. Smile

Haha, Yep not alot going on except for wedding and uni wrapping up! Grin Nothing ttc related to report though. There's now 5 weeks til the wedding and honeymoon and I am stupidly excited! I have one more dress fitting to go, hen night, and a meeting with our photographer, and that's pretty much it! I can't believe how fast it's come around!

Thanks guys. Am cautiously optimistic but well aware that it is very early days yet. Will retest at the weekend and see!

stealthbanana · 20/04/2016 09:58

(Oh and lucie, banana is absolutely right. You have a lot to be hopeful about!)

JustTrixie · 20/04/2016 10:16

Wow, congratulations Stealth, that is brilliant news Grin

Thanks Banana, will definitely report back. I actually had Lubion last time, it wasn't until test day when I was at the clinic for my blood test that I was offered Gestone, I'd had a faint BFP and had run out of Lubion so didn't want to have to traipse back to the clinic after the call in the afternoon to pick up more. Bought the Gestone, got home and then the clinic called to say it was a BFN. Great news that your Hysteroscopy is booked in, things are definitely moving in the right direction.

It's such an exciting time MPP! Enjoy every second Smile

Hi all

I wondered if I might be able to join you all on this thread?! I've been lurking for a little while but decided to take the plunge as you all seem like a lovely, supportive group! I hope you don't mind!

Not sure what stats you need from me, but DH and I have been TTC for 15 months now - no other DCs (just a fur baby!) and I'm currently on CD3!

If you would like any more info let me know Smile

Congratulations also seem to be in order, so congratulations stealthbanana!

loopylou1984 · 20/04/2016 20:42

Hey Maple, welcome :).

We don't need anything specific from you, but if you want to tell us where you are with investigations etc that would be great?

Sorry I haven't gone back and caught up, will do so ASAP!! Xx

MPP81 · 20/04/2016 20:47

Welcome Maple. Sorry you find yourself here, but if you have to be going through this, there is no better group to handhold with than this one. Smile

My hcg has dropped!!!! 141 to 107 today. I'm praying this it it now and it doesn't go back up or anything. I won't even need that horrible injection then.

Maple, welcome, lovely to have new people joining.

maplebaby · 20/04/2016 21:14

Thanks sammylou1 - yes of course, more than happy to fill you all in. Sorry if it ends up being long...

So I came off the pill after 10 years in January 2015, my first period came 29 days later and periods now averaging at 33 days (shortest 28, longest 38). I actually went to the doctors because my period is now super light after coming off the pill! Also I spot brown from 4-7 days before. I think I went in after 6 months of ttc. The doctor was a lovely junior doctor who started investigations straight away which surprised me - totally unexpected. I had bloods (CD5 and CD25 due to length of my cycles) and internal ultrasound - bloods showed I didn't ovulate that month but ultrasound came back clear. DH had 2 SA - all normal. I tried OPKs one month - none came back positive.

Eventually she referred me to the reproductive medicine unit/clinic - first appointment was last month. Since then I've had bloods done again to check for ovulation and also have another internal ultrasound booked in for Sunday. I was meant to get a Hycosy too but they didn't have any available appointments so I have to wait for my next period Sad

I have my next appointment to see the consultant in 2 weeks so hope to go through results then!

Oh and I'm 29 and DH is 30 Smile I might not have much experience but I'm hoping I can support you all with words of encouragement when needed - I know I certainly feel I have no one I can speak to who is on the same journey as me and it can get quite lonely.

maplebaby · 20/04/2016 21:16

Thanks for the welcome MPP81 and lucieloos!

I hope I can catch up on everyone's stories too so bear with me if I ask any silly questions you might have been asked before!

mysteriousbat · 20/04/2016 21:22

can avoid that injection.
MPP really exciting about the wedding, that will be here in no time.
I have hunted out the pcos thread now, thank you :) I did speak to my doctor about getting medication...my friend has pcos but isnt ttc and was given metformin. I asked my doctor about it and his words were basically "i don't know what you want me to do about it, what do you expect me to do?" errr i dont know. Thats why im here. You're the doctor!! It was just the way he said it, I burst into tears. Great! Oh well.
bananafish what happened to your eggs and pcos? And also stealthbanana yes its really bloody frustrating. Or in my case, as non bloody as it possibly could be. There is not a chance of getting preg so I have had zero cycles to work with. Argh! What treatment did you have?

itsme that's just the conclusion I came to. I could get a bfp next week (yeah, right!) or this time next year. Can't put life on hold! I'm glad it's a welcome distraction for you, Im sure you will figure something out with ivf and time off. Do people tell their workplaces or just take it off as annual leave or how does it even work?

Brenna24 · 20/04/2016 22:43

Welcome Maple.

That sounds positive Lucie. Fingers crossed it keeps on like that.

I took Mum to my sister's yesterday. The house seems awfully quiet. I am really proud of DDog though. He was happy and friendly for 4 days and didn't even object to being trod on or pushed out the road. He got loads of treats and ear scritches from Mum. He has gone from a terrified neurotic, snappy mess to a cheerful, affable little chap who is terrible for begging for food but happy to seek out cuddles and attention. Mum was nowhere near as negative and nit-pciky at me either. It has been a relaxed, fun few days.

MPP81 · 20/04/2016 23:22

Lucie That's good news! Very much hoping you won't need to have the injection!

Maple your experience of coming off the pill sounds very much like mine, apart from the spotting beforehand. Got af back in a textbook 28 days, and since then they've been very light and arriving anywhere between 28 and 38 days but usually around cd 31-32. It's fab the doctor took you seriously so quickly. Mine sent me away at 8 months and told me to come back at 12. It can get quite lonely, long term ttc because i think its something you cant really understand unless it's happening to you. I think i would have been much more depressed about the whole thing without everyone here to talk to. Good luck for Sunday!

Brenna I'm glad everything went well with the visit! Grin

Mysterious - to Answer you question about leave I think most people take annual leave for ivf. If your work place is big and family friendly they may have a policy giving extra leave for ivf. It's not sickness per say so don't try and claim it as that (potential disciplinary of you get caught). If you get sick as a result of the drugs or treatment that's then sick leave.... I didn't tell my work, they would have found a way to fire me....
