Removal of coil, ovulation and conceiving

Hi MNers,
I'm new on here and myself and OH are in early stages of trying for a baby.
He has two children from a previous relationship, I have none.
I had my coil removed last week (a week today) and I've had a variety of answers when I've asked how long it generally takes for my cycle to come back. I have ovulation sticks but as expected only a week in nothing as of yet. Can anyone share their experiences with me please?
Thanks xx
Grin

Ahhhhhh coil comes out tomorrow!!! Eeeek
Wish me luck :) :) :)

Lucy1308 · 20/04/2016 20:16

Good luck!! Not that you'll need it- you'll hardly notice anything has happened (well, apart from the terrible small talk they'll make whilst trying to distract you from the fact that they are shining a bloody spotlight up your hoohah!!)

Mammabear31 · 21/04/2016 21:38

How did you get on Abby?

AbbyH · 21/04/2016 22:08

It wasn't too bad, my gp had to dig around a lot for my threads which wasn't very comfortable but the removal in general was fine didn't even know she had taken it out!! :) no pain at all after either which I am surprised about as the pain after having it put in were similar to early stages of labour lol.
Time to get excited about TTC now Grin x

Mammabear31 · 22/04/2016 07:35

Glad it went well Abby!! Now the fun begins :)

Jod1985 · 22/04/2016 22:36

Hi guys, soooooo 4.5 weeks after getting my coil removed and no AF.I was so confused after what was gong on that I started to use OPKs and today I got three very positive results! That coupled with EWC (lots of it) has me convinced I am going to ovulate! I'm cramping too. Sore boobs and a little nauseous. I'm convinced that this is the second time I have ovulated since getting the coil removed.

Mammabear31 · 22/04/2016 22:45

That sounds great Jod! get to it ;-)

Lucy1308 · 23/04/2016 07:11

Sounds very promising Jod!! Shag week it is ;) I'm on CD7 so waiting a couple of days and will OPK too in the hopes I am now back to normal!! Woo!!

Tabitha78 · 23/04/2016 12:38

Hi! Thought I'd just add my experience into the mix. I had my copper coil out on cd5. I regularly have a 27/28 day cycle but this month was an epic 38. I did find the coil removal quite uncomfortable so I don't know if my body just wasn't very happy after or what. But anyway here's hoping for normal cycles from now on!

AbbyH · 23/04/2016 13:01

So I'm on day 2 after removal.....getting mild cramps now and (TMI...) a lot of what looks like fleshy, pale pink mucus coming out Confused I've read a few people have experienced this.....can't say it's pleasant haha. We DTD on Thursday night after removal, passed on TTC last night as I was feeling rather sick and I've been really tired since it came out on Thursday not sure if it's related in any way though.

Has anyone else has this? X

Mammabear31 · 23/04/2016 16:13

I'm out! AF arrived today, so at least now I know. Fingers crossed that this cycle is my last :)

Lucy1308 · 23/04/2016 19:13

Abby to me it just sounds like spotting and irritation from the coil removal- especially if they had to hunt round for it. I didn't get any spotting with mine but mine was out in seconds from spec in to coil out. If it helps then my AF after having the coil removed was very fresh if you know what I mean? Not as dark as I would expect AF to be, possibly to do with the fact that the coil thins your lining? Could just be the beginnings of AF?

I wish it wasn't all such a guessing game!! I was glad my AF was quite heavy so knew what it was, but can see how it could be very light and just appear as spotting.

Sorry about AF Mammabear but at least you know the deal! Fingers crossed we are all on our last cycle for a while now!!

AbbyH · 24/04/2016 10:51

TMI........

So I've woke up this morning and got a nice reminder of why I loved the coil for stopping my periods!! Haha
Heavily bleeding Shock did not expect that to happen so quickly it's only been 3 days!!x

dippypanda · 24/04/2016 11:14

Hi guys, hope you don't mind another, haven't been on forums for quite a while and just found this thread Smile
I had my mirena coil out on 8th April, been in nearly 5 years no periods for most of that time... Had heavy bleeding for about a week when the coil was removed. I think I ovulated but I don't really know so I'm currently in my TWW.
Hoping to test around 4th may but just bought some IC cheapies which should arrive next week...
Good luck to everyone for their sticky beans Thanks

Lucy1308 · 24/04/2016 11:22

Abby I know that feeling well!! I spent two days with awful backache moaning to my OH about it before I gave in and took painkillers!! And to think OH used to worry that I'd accidentally fallen pregnant because I'd not had a period- poor guy can't win now!! Although I don't think he's going to be doing too badly out of the deal really haha! Pleased AF turned up so soon though Abby, it did for me too and I was relieved that I didn't have to spend weeks agonising about whether I was or wasn't pregnant/ovulating!!

Fingers firmly crossed for a BFP dippy!!

Cake time!! Cake

AbbyH · 24/04/2016 13:31

Ahh it's horrible I hate it! Girl probs haha.
I've had backache for the last 2 days I guess this explains why...
OH is away this weekend so luckily he hasn't had to deal with me moaning about it.
Was wanted to start nookie week tonight when he is back but I guess that will have to wait until this bleed stops :( :(

Nimisha · 24/04/2016 13:58

I had spotting and cramps for 9 days after my coil was removed, but I had to go and have surgical procedure to get it out because the strings were lost. The surgeon said they had tied themselves in a knot.

As soon as it stopped I got to it with the dtd and got a positive opk three days later. I've now got nine days until test day eek!

AbbyH · 24/04/2016 14:16

Fingers crossed for you nimisha Flowers
Really hope this doesn't last long I'm so eager to start TTC x

Lucy1308 · 25/04/2016 14:38

Fingers crossed for you Nimisha!!

I was exactly the same Abby, now I'm eager to get all the TTCing over with and it he 3 weeks time so I can find out if I've caught haha. Nothing like being ahead of myself lol!!!

kpreenien · 27/05/2016 11:20

OK, so I've decided to post back on this thread as I had posted about having my coil removed and how long it's taken others to get pregnant. I found out 3 weeks ago that I was 4 weeks pregnant so looks like sometimes it doesn't take that long!! (3 weeks!!)

Just wondering how you are doing mamabear? Did you get your BFP?

Endmoor1405 · 28/07/2016 10:01

Just wanted to say that it doesn't always take that long. I got a BFP on the 5th of July after only having the coil out in April. Had a very long cycle and ovulated late but still only around 6 week. I have sadly miscarried since then but it didn't take us long at all to fall.

Endmoor1405 · 28/07/2016 10:01

Name changed from Lucy1308 by the way!

Jodders · 28/07/2016 10:48

I am 11 weeks pregnant now. I got the coil out March 23rd so got PG on second cycle.

Mammabear31 · 28/07/2016 12:48

Hey Jodders. Unfortunately I haven't got a BFP yet Sad am currently ovulating so fingers crossed for 2 weeks time please!

Congratulations!! Flowers
