Thanks all :) I've emailed my clinic to see what they suggest as Internet seems to suggest you can get pregnant as soon as ur come off the pill I'm on just dating etc could be difficult.... The clinic site says it'll contact me back within 2-4days so will see what they advise too :)

Kwick709 · 10/04/2016 20:35

Sounds like a good way forward pickle.

Good luck with the scan tomorrow Kwick! And good luck with the first day of work Taydex! (You and I can compare notes after! Here's hoping we don't puke on anyone on our first day! Wink)

Cloudburn · 11/04/2016 00:24

PS. Shoes when's your follow up scan?

Kwick709 · 11/04/2016 06:32

Ooh good luck with new jobs and scans.look forward to hearing about it later :)

Kwick709 · 11/04/2016 15:57

So 3 up the fanjo and 2 on top of womble scans later I am very pleased to confirm that moi is pregnant! An egg sac, yolk and heartbeat has been seen but seems kwicklet is lateral (?????) so all very blurry... I have another scan next week.
Have been feeling sick sick sick all day but I believe it is stress related. Have treated myself to an M&S dinner and maybe some apple turnovers

How are new jobs?

INeedNewShoes · 11/04/2016 17:06

Oh Kwick this is fab news Smile

Must have been nerve wracking all those attempts it took!

I am feeling very very nauseous too. It has been constant since Thursday. Nibbling oatcakes seems to help me.

Yay for your good baby scan Grin

taydex · 11/04/2016 17:58

And hopefully it won't be long till you have no periods again. I really don't miss those! Ooh, and one of my many books told me if you breastfeed you might not get periods back for a bit longer. Whoop whoop!

First day at new school (job, not actually a school!) went pretty well. They all seem sane and I've not met and psychos yet so good start.

Kwick709 · 11/04/2016 18:10

I am confused taydex are you a teacher?

shoes oakcakes sound fab!!! Think I will hunt some out.

Taydex absolutely fab advice about getting books from charity - I already have quite a collection!!! Still not the ones you recommended.....

pickle162 · 11/04/2016 18:25

Oooh kwick so pleased everything went ok at the scan! It's been a rough journey but yayyyy for this outcome :)
Glad ur first day was good taydex, sure there are some psychos around lol

Kwick709 · 11/04/2016 18:53

OP posts:
pickle162 · 11/04/2016 19:06

No longer 9 months sweetie, just over 7 :)

Kwick709 · 11/04/2016 19:47

Shushi pickle!!!! Just had a thought... Do not think worry stops at 9 months... Think it is now FOREVER!!!!

OP posts:
Cloudburn · 11/04/2016 19:53

Ladies, I think it will be the rest of our lifetimes worth of worry!! Wink (but I know what you mean)

Kwick that really is awesome news! Congratulations!!Grin

Shoes glad to hear you're feeling ill! Wink

Now for those of you current suffering from nausea (I refuse to call it 'morning sickness' cos that's complete bollocks!!), I have two words for you: Acupressure. Bands.

Seriously. A midwife recommended them to me, apparently they're the only thing clinically proven to help reduce nausea, and I've been wearing a pair since Thursday and I swear they've helped. It doesn't take away the nausea, but for me it reduces the severity. And it's nice to feel like I'm actually doing something to help!

You can get them from most pharmacies (ask for sea sickness bands) or you can get them from Amazon
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0074K1HRE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1460400609&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=acupressure+bands&dpPl=1&dpID=51HtKzHUyLL&ref=plSrch

They're only about £6 so worth giving a go I recon!

Right, off to attempt a shepherd pie!

Kwick709 · 11/04/2016 19:59

Thanks for the top tip cloud

taydex · 11/04/2016 21:58

Eugh, my phone appears to have decided I don't need to see page 17. Hence slightly out out sync last post. Trying to be good at new work and not just have this on my laptop like the old place LOL.

How did it go today Cloud? I didn't vomit on anyone. So proud of myself. My sister (who is a GP and has 3 kids) swore by those bands when she was up duffed. I was going to get some but haven't felt poorly enough (I was kind of waiting for it to get worse but I actually think it might be starting to get better!).

Yay Kwick, well done you! Suddenly real hey?! Congratulations sweetie. I know it's taken you a few goes like it has me. Here's proof this IUI/IVF can work, even for us slightly older birds Wink Oh, and no, I'm not a teacher, I just appear to have started using the words school and work interchangeably. E.g. No, I don't drink on a school night... Yes, I'm weird!

Shoes, oat cakes are a great option. Much better than the ginger biscuits and rich teas I've been nibbling!

Right, bedtime here. I have to be nicely refreshed for new school work. Night all x

Cloudburn · 11/04/2016 22:45

Taydex high five to those of us who didn't throw up on the first day of school! Wink

Yeah today went pretty well I think. Actually felt pretty good while I was there which was nice. Fingers crossed that lasts!

CautionHormone · 12/04/2016 00:23

Yaaaay Kwick! Soo good to hear that you've heard a heartbeat and seen everything you needed to see. I agree with you - you'll be worrying forever, not just for the remaining time of your pregnancy Grin. What does it mean that baby is lateral??

Shoes, when's your follow up scan? Glad to hear you're feeling nauseous! Wink

Glad you had a good day at your new job Taydex. Having not come into contact with any psychos is definitely a bonus in my eyes!

Pain with cyst (or what I assume to be my cyst) is still there. Worked out my periods, too. I'm going 17/18 days, then 34, then 21 days... And I'm on for half a day, then the next one I'm on for 6 days, off for one, back on for another two... It's driving me absolute bonkers. Anyone have any insight as to why my body isn't wired up properly?!

INeedNewShoes · 12/04/2016 00:32

Glad the first days at new jobs went well!

Caution my scan is on Friday morning. I'm counting down the days and, yes, I'm hoping my symptoms are a good sign. I actually feel really grim and feel as though there's impending doom on the vomit front. I'm also a lot more tired than usual.

Despite that I've had a really busy day which has helped to keep my mind off things: a day working in London including 3 hours commuting, getting home and teaching a piano lesson, and then having friends around for homemade pizzas. Great fun, but I am absolutely shattered now! I've left half the washing up for tomorrow which is something I would never normally do.

I'm afraid I can't help much re your irregular cycles. Have you been taking the contraceptive pill or depo injections until recently?

taydex · 12/04/2016 06:41

Also constantly tired here. It's perfectly normal. My advice is not to fight it. Have a sneaky nap on the sofa in the evening if you feel like it, or go to bed a bit earlier. I've been doing both when I can and it really helps. Some weeks I've not managed to get any extra zzzzzs in and I've really struggled.

I found coming off the pill messed up my periods a bit. Could it be that Caution?

Kwick709 · 12/04/2016 07:44

So maybe nausea I have been feeling for past week or so is upduffed related... Having to chew gum to be able to get on bus.

caution too early to hear heartbeat. Scanner lady saw it, I did not.

Absolutely no idea what lateral means and I did not consult Dr Google.

taydex I also refer to school nights - wish I got school holidays!!!

Good luck for 2nd days!

Thank goodness I found this thread, I spent last night reading you lovely ladies over 40 pages, then tried to message and realised it was closed. Anyway, Hi!! I'm new on here, and starting the process of having a baby on my own. I'm 37, (38 in June) and have my first appointment at Care Fertility Northampton on May 3rd.

I'm hoping for support, advice and being able to talk about this freely, as no one I know has done this and my familial reactions have been something of a mixed bag.

Reading all your previous posts it's like I nearly know you all (sounds less stalker-like in my head...).

Anyhoo, hi, may I please join your gang of kick arse wanna-be-baby-mommas?

Kwick709 · 12/04/2016 17:50

Welcome stork!!!!!

The journey can be a tad loney but this group of lovely ladies has helped me no end :)

Note to self: before embarking on life changing adventure check if enhanced materity policy at work is still in place!!! Envy

OP posts:
INeedNewShoes · 12/04/2016 17:55

Hi Stork . Welcome to the thread!

Kwick when did they change the policy?

I won't be taking the enhanced maternity pay anyway as I intend to leave my job and just do my freelance work once the baby turns up. The difference in the amount of money is huge but it's just one of those things for me. Four hours commuting a day will not be possible once I've got a little person to look after. But if I were you I'd be livid!

My nausea was so bad this morning I'm starting to wonder how I'm going to cope. I was thoroughly useless. Slightly better now but the constant underlying sicky feeling is starting to wear a bit thin. Humph. There had better be a baby growing in there to make this worthwhile.
