Anyone care to join me? The monthly bus threads just starting to get me down, I'm starting to feel bitter about congratulating all the first month of trying BFP's and so I need to step away. I was very lucky to have conceived accidentally somewhat miraculously with my dd1 and dd2 and always imagined I'd struggle if actually trying, and here we are.

I'm 29, dp is 43
TTC number 3
Cycle 6
Cd1

Hi ladies!
Stupidly wrote on another irrelelevent thread yesterday! I'd like to join this thread if that's ok! I got married in August and I am 33. Trying for #1. I came off the pill in May as I knew we wanted to try straight away.
We decided to just see what happened at the start but I used Ovia to track and I was generally concentrating on days 10-15 as it advised. After no luck in the first 5 cycles I decided to try the clear blue ovulation test which started to give me a smiley face on day 18 of each month. Looking back on the tracker, I don't think it was possible that we would've hit it on day 18 in the previous months so for peace of mind I'm saying that technically January was the first month that we really got the right days.
I have been having some odd periods. In December, I got it Very lightly for one day and then it stopped. It arrived back 5 days later and was normal flow for a few days. The same thing happened in February. It's very annoying as I don't know then which day counts as day 1! Has anyone experienced this? My husband thinks it might still be the effects of coming off the pill.
I went for blood tests last month and they came back normal. I think I will book an appointment now to see if I should have internal scans.
Does anyone have any similar problems or know anything about the strange AFs?

Dovey2 · 16/03/2016 16:16

Hello everybody! Would love to join too...have been lurking on other "buses" but think I'll be more at home on the longer journey one Smile

Dovey2, age 34

MC in July 2015 after ttc for 16 cycles (Sad)
CD 14
Cycle 8

This cycle was only 24 days long so ov caught me by surprise at day 10! Been POAS and all the rest of it, DH has a home test kit to make sure all good his end. Have had so many baby announcements and births in the amount of time we've been trying that it doesn't really phase me anymore, however I do get irritated with people who have "accidents" when they've come off the pill "for a break" or are using the withdrawal technique, don't people know how contraception works?! Grin Anyway wishing you all the best, keeping my hopes up and fingers crossed for us all Flowers xx

LovelyFishy · 17/03/2016 11:43

Welcome Mbire and Dovey!

I've always been curious reading about odd cycles after coming off the pill. I've never tried it as I'm too forgetful to leave something as important as birth control up to me remembering to take a pill everyday!

DH and I gave a friend and her baby a lift home the other day. While friend was paying the shop we strapped baby in the car ready to go. Baby then woke up, couldn't see mum, and wailed the roof off! DH was so terrified by it!! Not the best impression to give him att but his face was very funny. Grin

bluebird3 · 17/03/2016 16:54

Welcome lara mbire and dovey

I sometimes have strange spotting before my af where I get spotting anywhere from 2-5 days before af. Sometimes it's only for a day then days of nothing before Af. I've tried to read up and most info says count cd1 from the first day of full flow, so that's what I've been doing. Probably worth checking with your GP though!

Mbire · 17/03/2016 17:50

Hi girls!
Thanks for the reply, I have mentioned this to the GP and she actually just didn't react! I must make another appointment soon! I wonder is it still the after affects of the pill? I'm almost 10 months off it now, really thought it'd be out of my system!
Ahhh it's a mine field!

Aidycake34 · 17/03/2016 18:36

Hi, this thread sounds right up my street. I've been trying for no 2 for 8 cycles now. My dd turned 2 at Christmas and it took me 10 cycles to conceive her. For those of you at the beginning of the thread who wondered how you relax while trying to conceive and stop fussing during the tww, I too used to wonder that and it took me so long to get pregnant with my daughter (or so I thought anyway) that I went to the doctor and fibbed about the length of time that I was trying to conceive. once I felt that something was happening and that it was out of my hands I just started to relax a bit more. The month I conceived I didn't use opk's or track my cm, dh and I went away for my birthday, got horrifically pissed and hey presto, I was finally pregnant. I said at that time that I would never stress about my fertility or getting pregnant again and that I'd just try and relax but here I am 8 months down the line and I'm the biggest symptom spotter going.....again.
I too spot for up to 5 days before af and I've been to the docs about this. She did the 21 day tests which came back fine and said to keep trying and if I'm not pregnant by the summer (this was in December) to come back to her. She didn't know what the spotting was and wasn't concerned about it. I seem to remember that I did spot before my first pregnancy too. The spotting started today unfortunately so I'm out for another month. Il be 36 next month, dh is 45.

LuckyBlackKitty · 17/03/2016 18:45

Hi Lara Mbire and Dovey
It's great you're joining us on the thread.

Mbire - sorry to hear AF has been a bit weird for you. I'm afraid I don't have any advice. I'm generally like clockwork, with the exception of Dec when things went crazy. I started spitting on CD10, which I tried to convince myself was a weird ovulation bleed but then it continued until AF arrived on CD17. All very odd! Since then I've been back to my 24-27 day cycles.

Hopefully you'll figure out what you're body is doing, Mbire - maybe that's just your normal?!? (I'm learning that there is no such thing as normal)

Lovely - that did make me laugh about your DH. It's the opposite with us. DH is never phased by crying babies and even manages to soothe them whereas I immediately go into panic mode and hand them back. I've convinced myself then when it's my turn my instincts will kick in (or I'll continue to pass to DH Grin)

LuckyBlackKitty · 17/03/2016 18:50

Hi Aidycake - you managed to sneak in your post while I was typing.
I'm 36 and trying for number 1.
I'm currently on a bonkfest break in the sunny climes of Cornwall. We're hoping that a chilled out break might do the trick for us...
I'm now entering the TWW and trying not to symptom spot!

Aidycake34 · 17/03/2016 20:30

Hi lucky. Enjoy ur break. I've decided to start taking co enzyme q10 in addition to my normal pre conception vitamin. I heard about it on another thread and I know from my sister in law that women who are about to undergo Ivf are advised to take it. It is supposed to improve the quality of eggs, particularly 'ageing eggs'. It's expensive, about £20 for a low dose, il probably splash out and get a higher dose but I just thought I'd mention it for those of you who like me are over 35.

LuckyBlackKitty · 17/03/2016 21:07

Thanks for the tip!
For me, I'm a bit over the supplements. I was taking so many I could rattle - evening primrose oil, macca, Royal jelly, raspberry leaf, pregnacare supplements, folic acid etc etc plus I had DH on about 5 a day. After about 6 months or so of that and no results I'm back to just folic acid.
It's probably a bit of a Gary give up attitude but the pills were becoming rather bitter to swallow, if you'll excuse the pun.
Now - if you get your BFP this month then I am likely to go running for the nearest Holland and Barrett because I am most definitely fickle and will clutch at the tiniest of straws (albeit for a short period of time - I refer you back to my earlier Gary give up scenario).
Good luck Aidy

Shemozzle · 17/03/2016 21:11

Welcome to lara mbire dovey and aidycake I'm afraid I don't know anything about periods after pill specificallybut it's taken a few months for me to get a 30 day cycle after coming off nexplanon implant in November. lara I've been following your post so believe you may be pregnant this cycle after all!

I'm 9dpo tomorrow and I'm itching to test. Thinking of doing a cheapy tonight too! I really don't think my plan of waiting until AF is actually due is going to come to fruition after all. As soon as I get to 9dpo I just loose all will power.

Mbire · 17/03/2016 21:14

Thank you Aidycake and Luckyblackkitty!! Glad to hear that someone else has the same issue and that it is possibly ok! I will definitely book again and see if the doc can do more tests. My DH is going to the doc next week to try to get tested also. Unfortunately we are not going to be together for ovulation this month either (sorry need to brush up on the abbreviations!) because I'm going away! A wasted month seems disastrous at the moment!!
Enjoy your break Aidycake!! We are going for a weekend away too but looks like AF will be hereSad

Aidycake34 · 17/03/2016 21:23

I haven't told dh this but Ive booked our weekend away for when I know I'm near ovulation. I just hope I dont fuck it up now by getting drunk and crying or demanding sex!

LuckyBlackKitty · 17/03/2016 22:35

Ha! Shemozzle - dare I say I told you so? Wink

Aidycake - try not to put too much pressure on yourself. I'm sure a weekend break will be great for you and DH.

LovelyFishy · 18/03/2016 03:59

Shemozzle I'm really trying to resist testing but nearly given in too! I know it's dangerous but I'm major symptom spotting this month. My boobs are really sore, even fluffing up a pillow before bed was too much! Also I've felt a bit odd, more emotional. But there could be any number of non-pregnancy reasons for this!!

Shemozzle · 18/03/2016 15:20

Yes lucky you were right. I tested this morning (and last night!) BFN's of course. I've decided I like testing obsessively with cheap tests. Doesn't cost much at all (in fact two friends have sent me batches of cheapie tests so I have lots) and I prefer to be let down gently win a test than have AF show up to break the news. At least I know if I'm getting BFN's day before AF then I'm very unlikely pregnant. I know lots of people are the other way round though and hate to guess and prefer AF to BFN's. I think so long as I don't spend too much money on them I find all the tests exciting. Nothing like staring at a blank test and pretending I can see a line in a certain light...with a torch shined on it Grin
lovely I've got symptoms too, that I haven't had in previous cycles. I'll be testing again tonight when DP is out, just to fill the time, haha.

I love this website for its stays of bfp per dpo (for people who were pregnant) www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/dpo-chart.php?dpo=9

LuckyBlackKitty · 18/03/2016 16:19

Ha! You test away shemozzle. No judging here.

I love that website. They are indeed good stats.

I'm starting to look out for symptoms. Sadly nothing to report yet...

LovelyFishy · 18/03/2016 16:31

Oooh, that is a good site! I'm going to try and hold out for a Monday morning test, that'll be 13dpo...

Shemozzle · 18/03/2016 19:37

Oh my god. Help! I've just looked at one of the tests I did this morning, and it's got a line on it! It definitely wasn't there within the time frame or even 20 minutes after when I studied it. Thing is, it's a blue line test. I got it from the clerance section in boots a while ago. I've heard blue line tests are bad but not sure why. Can they give false positives if left too long?

Eeek I don't know.
Have you got any other tests in the house?
Test again, test again!

Shemozzle · 18/03/2016 20:01

I've done another cheapie and BFN. But the reviews for these cheapies on Amazon are really bad recently, lots of comparison posts of different brands saying they really aren't early detectors anymore. I have one FRER but was going to save it until Sunday?! I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow and do the FRER?

Shemozzle · 18/03/2016 20:01

I wanna do it now! Blush

LovelyFishy · 18/03/2016 20:56

Squee, really excited for you now!!!
