I am being a spoilt cow, I suppose, because we have only been ttc for a month and I of course hadn't expected any success for at least a few months. But here I am a week late, and I am NEVER late, and it seems too much of a coincidence that I would be late for the first time just when we happen to have started ttc - but all tests are negative, I have done several different brands. I can't afford to keep blowing money on tests, and I don't want to be preoccupied with this over Christmas and have to err on the side of caution re: drink and cheese etc, when I am probably not even bloody pregnant. It's driving me WILD. I have even resorted to taknig my bloody temperature, though I can extrapolate nothing useful from it because I don't know what it was before!!!

Arse. Arse.

oh Greeny

you do know tests can sometimes be neg for up to a few weeks into a pregnancy, don't you? Especially if you ovulated a bit later than usual.

I'd take it as a hopeful sign (without wanting to get your hopes up) - I'm like you, the only times I've ever been late, I've been pg

(P.S. Did it arrive yet?)

Tatties · 21/12/2006 15:26

Can the doc do a blood test? (I don't know, I've never had one) I know what you mean about it being a PITA having to err on the side of caution.

beansprout · 21/12/2006 15:26

Sorry to hear this. We are ttc too and I'm finding it a miserable business! I had four days of this at the beginning of the month (until AF came along). It drove me mad too. I lived in hope but it was a vain one. I have an irregular cycle too so I play this game most months!!

Hope you feel better soon

I am mainly using the cheapo dipstick tests (because they are £2.99) but have used a coupe of Sainsburys' own brand, one Boots one and a First Response (although that was a few days ago)

I know, I am chucking away FAR too much money on them, but I have no patience

I am starting to worry myself that there might be Something Else wrong, causing the late AF

Sorry to hear you are stuck in the same boat beansprout, it's a PITA isn't it? I hate waiting.....

greeny.....you;re quick off the mark! did you use early morning wee......?

maybe the subconcious worry is making you late ..

Quootiepie · 21/12/2006 15:59

Using first wee of the day hun? xxx

Quootiepie · 21/12/2006 16:00

snap Lulu ! xxx

FennelHumbug · 21/12/2006 17:00

aw, practise some patience

Get a test to take on christmas eve or Christmas day first thing so you can at least overindulge properly over Christmas if it's still negative. I have a spare clear blue test you can have, I won't ever be needing it.

I see Essbee and I are both primarily concerned with the freedom to drink lots over the coming week

Oooo, I used 2 cheap tests asdas own and they came up neg until a few days later when I was emptying bathroom bin and there were lines there. I was very shocked.

I would buy a clear blue and do it Christmas Eve.

FennelHumbug · 21/12/2006 17:51

Actually, yes, I used a cheap test with dd2, it was negative, and then the more expensive clear blue type one was positive. probably better to stick with one expensive test than a batch of cheap ones.

babylove123 · 21/12/2006 21:12

Hi Tatties,

Doubt Greeny will be able to get a blood test, my doc wont and im 19 days late!

Hold on Greeny, it aint easy, im going thru exactly the same thing. My doc said they wont look into it until my next period is late too because it can be a "missed period". The fact that ive never been late before let alone missed one seems unlikely!!!

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 22/12/2006 11:16

have got an even more hilarious scenario now... have had two very faint BFPs this morning but also have what appears to be AF

OP posts:
olittletownofberolina · 22/12/2006 11:27

hope you're OK greeny xx

BrandyTutter · 22/12/2006 11:30

greeny, how heavy and what colour?

i had bleeding the day my af was due this pregnancy - was convinced it was over (had had bfp 2 days previous) but it stopped as quickly as it had arrived

lulumama · 22/12/2006 11:31

i had s[potting the day before and the day of my BFP with DD....bleeding, even light periods can occur with early pregnancy 1

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 22/12/2006 11:33

it's not spotting, it's bright red and there's quite a bit (gross, sorry)

I think that's it, really. Never mind.
