I am being a spoilt cow, I suppose, because we have only been ttc for a month and I of course hadn't expected any success for at least a few months. But here I am a week late, and I am NEVER late, and it seems too much of a coincidence that I would be late for the first time just when we happen to have started ttc - but all tests are negative, I have done several different brands. I can't afford to keep blowing money on tests, and I don't want to be preoccupied with this over Christmas and have to err on the side of caution re: drink and cheese etc, when I am probably not even bloody pregnant. It's driving me WILD. I have even resorted to taknig my bloody temperature, though I can extrapolate nothing useful from it because I don't know what it was before!!!

Arse. Arse.

thanks

it's not a big deal, it's very early anyway.

Probably a chemical pregnancy Greeny. Happens in 50% of cycles apparently and you are only aware of it when ttc, otherwise you just assume your af is late and dismiss it. Still a complete pita though.

Didn't realise you were trying (vaguely recall you coming over all broody a couple of months back and denying that you had any intention to get pregnant again!).

Best of luck with it, took me a year to conceive, currently 20wks and turning into the first human blimp as I type. In the nicest possible way, I hope the same happens to you.

what's a chemical pregnancy?

chemical pregnancy

Basically a very, very early miscarriage, so the egg fertilises but for whatever reason does not implant properly. You start to produce hcg, so sensitive tests pick up on this, but your body quickly recognises the pregnancy as not viable and your period starts. Usually slightly later than usual and can be a bit heavier. It's incredibly common and one of the downsides of sensitive pregnancy tests.

Does sound quite likely.

I had one of these 'chemical preganancies' Greeny. Although never heard that term before now.
But I did an early test which was negative. No period so did another and got a very faint positive, a week later got my period.
Very disappointing as had started to think it was really going to happen, but without the sensitive test I'd never have known.
I'm like you though I could never wait, and ended up taking various tests desparately wanting an answer.
Hope you're Ok. It is disappointing, another bit of a wait, but you'll get there and it will be worth it.
A bit I want a 3rd DH won't let me.
