Helloo.
So I survived my HyCoSy! I won't lie, it was effing painful, but the pain only lasted for about a minute so don't worry. Feel fine today, just the odd twinge reminding me it happened.
The consultant who did it was the most useful person we'd met so far, and did a 3D internal scan as part of the procedure. She said I had a heart-shaped uterus (apparently not an issue), said my tubes were open, and finally diagnosed me with PCOS.
I believed that you had to be overweight or hairy to have PCOS, and that it would have shown in the blood tests so far, but she said that in 30% of women the only evidence is on the 3D scan and high AMH levels.
What's more, she was satisfied that the PCOS was the cause of my short luteal phase and random progesterone levels. I'd never heard of any causes for short luteal phase before!
Although PCOS can be managed in order to achieve pregnancy (she said Victoria Beckham has it), my DH's second sample came back the same as before. He has anti-sperm antibodies which basically try and attack the sperm as they see them as foreign, which means the majority can't swim properly. Very weird. So we will definitely need IVF. Strangely calm about it; at least I know it's out of my hands now! Closest appointment we could get 'to discuss our options' is 18th May, which seems so far away!
Mrsunsure did you get your AMH for free? Each area seems to be different... for example sunshine I think they do operate on blocked tubes where I live. What was the SHBG test for Mrs? I've never heard of that one. Also never heard of progesterone being done only in the mornings! It's crazy we're all told such different things!
Thanks for your story of hope Popalina, and welcome to Baby, I hope you get some answers.
Fx for implantation bleeding, mrs.
I'm sorry, my updates are never short!
