I've got my first NHS gynae appt tomorrow, to be honest it feels like a bit of a waste of time as I know they will only say to increase my BMI first (which I'm working on), but the private consultant thought it important that we go. Do you think they will want me to have an internal scan as I haven't had an NHS one before, only private? I'm feeling a bit worn out with it all the moment and fed up of talking to various people about my menstrual cycle. x

Good luck sunshine, you will have answers soon I know it x

Friendlycav · 21/03/2016 19:51

Good luck sunshine, let us know what happens and how it goes x

*Iambear - good luck with your HSG/HyCoSy too, I'm all set to book my appt next cycle x

sunshinegirl12 · 21/03/2016 20:10

Mrsunsure, I'm not worried I just feel I'm duplicating my efforts a bit as have already been through it all with the private consultant, and I know that I do need to gain weight before i can have treatment. The private scan has already checked my ovaries, womb shape/lining and everything is good so hoping I won't have to have another, do you think I will? Also would my GP have sent over my blood results, again the private consultant was happy with everything so don't think they will pick anything up there either. My progesterone level at 6dpo was 62 which they said was ok. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong and it will be worth while x

Sunshine my progesterone at 8DPO was 21! GP said that meant I'd ovulated but letter from gynaecologist said it meant I didn't. Got my temp rise so as far as I thought I had ovulated. She's given me forms to have my progesterone levels done again this month on CD18, 22 and 25 to make sure we don't miss the surge.

With BMI mine was 20 and she said 21 was ideal but NHS guidelines said anything over 19 was fine but that was for my age and height etc.

My scan said womb, lining and right ovary was ok and they could see ovulation from right ovary but left ovary was small, possibly as a result of taking the pill for so long.

Let us know how it goes. Don't worry. We seem to be at the same stage diagnosis wise. Xx

Although my progesterone level seems ok, I still only have a 10/11 day luteal phase and as I usually ovulate on day 12, I think the issue is something to do with having such a short cycle. The consultant thought this might sort itself out if I increase my BMI but I think I will probably end up needing clomid or something. There seems to be a few of us around the same point of getting help, due to have HSGs etc.

Bear, goodluck with your HSG, let us know how you get on.

Mrsunsure, fx for you on weds, how many DPO are you now? x

The appointment went as expected really, they are happy with my blood results and say the short cycle isn't an issue as I'm regular, although I do need to get the CD2 tests redone as they seem to have lost them!! Angry The next step is the HSG which can be up to 3 months if wait for NHS so may just go private. She said if tubes are blocked they don't operate any more so the only option would then be IVF, if they aren't blocked it could likely help me conceive within 3 months but if not she said again it will probably be IVF.

I asked about clomid or other drugs first but she just thought it would be pointless as my hormone levels are fine. She did say that I need to put on about a stone before I can have treatment, but also that she thinks gaining weight will just give me a boost to conceive naturally. I'm ok with just working on that for now along with the acupuncture, I don't feel ready to go down the IVF route just yet. x

Friendlycav · 22/03/2016 19:17

Thanks for the update sunshine. Sounds like nothing really new following your private consultation but always good to get a 2nd opinion. Interesting to know re: HSG waiting list and that they don't operate on blocked tubes. I think it's a good plan to carry on with the acupuncture and to try and gain weight, good luck with it all x

babyinthacorner · 22/03/2016 19:36

Hello, can I join? I've been lurking for a while as I have 10 day luteal phase, and acupuncture hasn't helped as of yet - have been having acu/Chinese medicine since January.

I'm really interested in your news sunshine girl as my situation sounds very similar to yours - ovulate day 14/AF day 25, regulate as clockwork and has been for ages.

The Chinese doctor said straight away at my first appointment that I'm too thin, but despite eating like a horse since then, I just can't seem to put on much weight. Have put on a bit that I'm just starting to notice, but otherwise nada. Did they give you any advice for putting weight on?!

Sorry to jump on and bombard you with questions...

Thanks Mrs! Yeah I'd gathered that most people seems to be going for further investigations/treatment, which is reassuring. We're on cycle 6 of TTC #2 so haven't been to the GP about it yet, but I've started to look into secondary infertility, and it seems like I should go soon as I'm nearly 36.
I got pg first month last time! DH wanted to start trying for #2 sooner so now I'm kicking myself for waiting.

Friendlycav · 22/03/2016 20:46

Welcome baby. I'm the same, my DH wanted us to wait until we'd been married a year before we started trying. Really kicking myself now.

I just got a positive OPK (I'm cd10 so this is earlier than usual) so currently on a 2 hour train journey to hook up with DH. What a nightmare! x

sunshinegirl12 · 22/03/2016 21:15

Welcome Baby, it does sound as though we are in a fairly similar situation. To be honest I have just been eating lots of naughty things in addition to my normal meals, the easiest things for extra calories I've found are muffins, fudge (50 calories in a small piece), adding cream to mash or making creamy pasta sauces, along with meal replacement shakes like complan after a full meal especially if you make it with whole milk (think it works out about 350 calories). I feel like I am constantly eating but it is slowly going on.

Sometimes I too think we should have started trying sooner as we have been married for years but we were too busy just enjoying our 20s, and it was always the plan to start trying as soon as I got to 30 as assumed it would happen straight away, I do sometimes regret that a little now. Hmm

Wow Friendly, a 2hr train journey, you are definitely dedicated. x

Thanks girls, you can't fault my dedication! DH's turn to do the journey tomorrow. We both have 2 weeks off work from Thurs so it's Sod's bloody law that it looks like I'm going to ovulate early! Hmm x

Thanks Mrs. Will def make the most of our time together! Don't think early ovulation is a particularly good sign, think it might mean it's a crap egg!? Keeping my fingers crossed that clomid works for you Mrs x

Yeah I don't think early ovulation is a particularly good sign and my acupuncturist always said that a later ovulation is better. Think the quality of the egg is better the later you ovulate? Oh well I have to try and stay positive, also don't know how much more of this I can take Confused

Hi baby!

Sunshine I was told I'd have my HSG and be back in gynaecologist office within two months. Sometimes I think they say three months as a worst case scnario. I've not had appointment come through for HSG yet and wasn't told about them not operating or about not driving after. Gynaecologist did tell me NHS don't offer IVF until you've been trying for three years Shock

Not my GP now but when I lived in a different area GP told me to eat Jaffa cakes, Mars bars, salty crisps and drink fizzy drink to gain weight. Obviously I didn't take his advice but like you I have the odd naughty treat. My DH says muscle weighs a lot so could you cheat and lift some weights haha?

Friendly/Mrs I usually ovulate on CD18 and GP said that was late but I think that's fairly normal. Crazy how little they know sometimes.

Mrs you will get there and hopefully things start to work for you.

Sorry for essay!
