Mascara, thanks for all your advice. How many weeks are you now?

I just thought that at my private appt I would be prescribed / referred for whatever is necessary so the NHS appt wouldn't be required as well??

iamabear · 22/02/2016 17:23

Hi mrsmugoo, glad you clarified about the 7dpo, I didn't explain that very well. I've tried it both ways. I went at 7dpo (day 28 for me) and they said everything is fine, you've ovulated, and that is all they were bothered about. So then the next month I went at cd 21 (to prove that I hadn't ovulated by day 21 of a 30 day cycle) but when the result came back at something like 0.1 she said I can't have ovulated at all that month Angry, even though I know I ovulated in the meantime.

Mascara, good advice! Will remember that if it comes to it. Crazy that you had to tell a white lie to get your progesterone.

Sunshinegirl12, definitely go to your nhs one too, best to have your foot in both doors, so to speak. Hopefully you'll get some answers. My HyCoSy is booked for mid-March.

Mrsunsure, I'd say the appointment was about 45 mins-1 hour. Try and stay positive Grin.

On cd18 today, and internal scan showed a follicle ready to go! Just trying to work out how to make them believe that my period will be here 9/10 dpo...

mrsmugoo · 22/02/2016 17:48

Ah yes iamabear - my GP did my day 21 on day 21 (3 times actually) and each time came back single figures and I was told I hadn't ovulated that cycle (I knew I had!) but was told its "normal" to not ovulate sometimes. Sometimes, yes. 3 times in a row while TTC no.

Which led me to ask them why they'd even done the test if both ovulating and not ovulating were considered normal?!

It was a total shit show anyway.

sunshinegirl12 · 22/02/2016 18:59

One final question... so if I'm having the internal scan privately, do you think the NHS will want to repeat this at my NHS appt, or will they just use the findings from the private scan? And if I did get all the required tests done privately and it came to the point where they said we would need IVF, would we need to go through all the tests again with the NHS or could we just go on the Nhs waiting list for IVF? x

I honestly don't know about repeating the tests sunshine. I would think some are straightforward and they will be happy with the private ones, whereas they might say others could have changed and they want to retest.

Sunshine I took up both private and nhs appointments. My reasoning, the private consultant was asking my gp to do bloods/SA on the nhs anyway to save me money (very kind of them), I had two consultations privately, one to analyse the bloods (low vitamin d/LP confirmed) and internal done too privately to check for cysts etc.

My nhs appointment was three days after my private one and I didn't even mention I'd been for a private appointment to them (I didn't want them to think I could afford to go private to resolve the problem as I couldn't, I just want a diagnosis really from the private appointment and feared I might be dismissed by the nhs if I told them). I also thought that if it was something more serious like I needed IVF in the future you have to be careful in regards to funding as I'm sure if you've sort private fertility treatment they can refuse (check that though in you local policy) so for the time being I kept quiet and sort both routes to see which I got the furthest with and they both met halfway as I could refer the 'nhs' tests that the private consultant had referred me for (if you follow)... Very confusing but it worked!

mascaraisamust · 23/02/2016 06:51

So sunshine and others, in other words at your private appointment be cheeky and ask 'could I possibly have these tests done on the nhs rather than privately', especially if it's standard stuff like bloods etc as it will save you hundreds!

If they do comment on Tuesday just say put what you weighed at the time of completing the form and after your over indulgent holiday, you are reducing your calorie intake to get back there. Good luck.

Mrsunsure, aslong as your BMI is ok you should be ok so try not to worry. I know I'm classed as underweight and I currently wouldn't be able to have IVF etc until I gain a few pounds, but I'm working on that. My appt is tomorrow and I'm getting nervous, I hate anything like this but really really hoping I get some answers.

How are you feeling now? When is AF due? x

There are guidelines that you must be within a certain BMI range, I'm not sure of the upper limit, but if you're not overweight you should be fine. Try not to worry about that as I would think if it was an issue your GP would have mentioned it already. Fx you may even have your BFP before your appt, are you plannjng on testing?

I'm only 3dpo and already got the usual dragging/pulling feeling I get during my luteal phase so not holding out much hope. I've got my acupuncture appt on thurs, hoping it will de-stress me. Hmm

What is the test for pelvic inflammatory disease? To be honest when googling I haven't been able to find much on it esp as I never get it until my luteal phase so I would think its hormone related?? Fx for you Mrsunsure, try to stay positive and if AF does arrive your appt is only days away x

Hope all went well sunshine!

I had my GP appt today for the fertility probs - she's referring me but we have to 'collect them all' (ie all the tests) before she sends the paperwork so DH still has to have a SA and I have to have a chlamydia swab - he was a bit Hmm but I pointed out he only had to knock one out, I have to have sticks poked up my foof.

She was nice (she listened and looked at my charts and although she didn't comment on my LP she acknowledged my cycle was 'not regular') but she did refer to my miscarriage as 'a good thing' - I know what she means in terms of fertility but it's still too raw really.

Good to hear from you Oriana, I was only thinking about you this morning and wondering how you were getting on now.

Mrsunsure, I had my appt this evening, everything looked fine on the internal scan which was a huge relief, although they said it looks like I'm due to ovulate now even though I got my positive OPK on friday (and assumed I already had ov?!!) All hormones levels including progesterone were good, although he was disappointed that the NHS hadn't tested a couple of things like FSH (bloody NHS). Anyway, we are booking in for a AMH blood test and HSG privately to save on time but he also said we need to keep in with the NHS as was very conscious of trying to save us money, which ws reassuring. His main concern for me was my low BMI and thinks if I gain weight my cycles will probably get longer and is positive we will conceive naturally.

Although no actual results I do feel reassured. Now just need to get eating. x

mascaraisamust · 24/02/2016 22:07

Great to hear sunshine, and good to hear that you won't get ripped off too. Hope you feel a bit happier xx

mrsmugoo · 25/02/2016 07:26

That's interesting about your ovulation sunshinegirl - that's why I think temping is a really good way to get to know the gap between your surge and actually releasing the egg - mine was a lot longer than I would have imagined as well and once I got the hang of that I could get the timing spot on.

If you don't fancy temping you could just dtd for a week after a positive opk to catch it.

Anyway sounds really positive :)

Friendlycav · 25/02/2016 08:08

So glad to hear you appointment went well Sunshine. I'm also thinking of getting my HSG and AMH tests done privately.

Thankfully my DH's SA results came back as normal so the problem is with me as I thought.

I'm still going with the Chinese herbs and I don't think I've ovulated yet (I'm on cd 15 so this is late for me) so fingers crossed this is a good sign.

Expect to start the cyclogest suppositories in a couple of days. Not sure whether to take 400mg once or twice a day (my consultant didn't say). Any thoughts Mascara and Mrsmugoo?
