futurity, staceyk, misdee, isn't ttc the most frustrating and mind-consuming? Yes I have one ds and I feel incredibly lucky that he was conceived on 3rd cycle and the pregnancy was easy/labour was quick. Even if I try to pretend to everyone that we are still in the 'thinking' stage of ttc again, I do think about it all the time, no matter how much I try to focus on other things. I see pregnant women and newborns everywhere (trying out one of the new smileys!).

I have not tested again since my negative last week. I'm trying to come to terms with the fact that it is likely that I ov'd really late and did not bd at all at this time. I have no signs that I am either pregnant or af is about to come. FF indicates that I am now 18DPO but temps have only really risen significantly in the last 5 days. Can't see me testing unless af doesn't come in the next 9/10 days. Can't face the disappointment

Good luck miranda2 and chrissey14. Hope you have more luck than me.

New one here. Did start my own thread re luteal phases but thought i'd better show my face so to speak.
1st month using FAM method just passed and not pregnant. Less gutted than i thought i would be as i actually knew i wasn't pregnant because of the signs my body was giving me, so the FAM method has given me a knowledge of my cycle at least .
Here's to next month.
Sprinkling baby dust on all (including me)

Azure · 13/06/2004 00:43

Hi there Chrissy14, Miranda2 and Poshpaws, really pleased you've revealed yourselves. Poshpaws, I can't for the life of me work out what FAM stands for - please could you help me out!

gothicmama · 13/06/2004 00:48

stacyk try not to let ttc control your life I conceivd after stopping ttc and being philosophical about it all Iknow this is really hard and me saying it is not going to make it any easier for you - have you stopped taking Vitamin A cut down on coffee, cgs , alchohol etc. be kind to yourself and do not put too much pressure on yourself , investigate all the options open to you try to use things positively fingers crossed and lots of babydust to everyone- Iam still lurking having decided I can not cope with ttc any more lucky to have my one and that's ok .

Staceyk · 13/06/2004 10:37

gothicmama thanks for your words. I can well understand your reluctancy to ttc again. Very stressful. Wish you luck though and you know we'll all be here should you decide ttc.

(bet this doesnt work... grrr!)

thought this might raise a few smiles here. i picked it up on the therapist forum i frequent.

best wishes

Poshpaws · 13/06/2004 20:57

Thank you for the welcome, Azure.
I'm not sure what FAM stands for either but it is the method used in the book 'Taking Charge of your Fertility' so temping, mucus-checking, etc.
Hope it works for me.
Last time with ds i used ov sticks.

bunny2 · 13/06/2004 21:30

FAM=Fertility Awareness Method
Can I have a gold star?
Hi Azure, how are you?

Azure · 13/06/2004 21:46

Gothicmama - have you decided not to ttc at all, or "let nature decide"? If the day comes when I give up, it would be very hard taking contraceptives again. Rosies - unbelieveable story in this day & age! Poshpaws, do you use www.fertilityfriend.com? It's a useful way of recording temps etc. Sounds like you're doing all the right things.

Azure · 13/06/2004 21:48

Hi there bunny2! Very impressed at your acronym knowledge. I'm fine, but still here. Do I get a medal for the person on this thread (and the previous ones) the longest?

ChaCha · 14/06/2004 00:06

Evening all
Think i must be about CD12 or CD13 but havent BD'd for a few days Work, Work, Work!
Think i am ovulating today, it was this time last month so am going to try and pin DH down
Just reading your post StaceyK - i feel like that too sometimes, but work gives me something else to think about. I know how your feeling. We all just have to hang in there i guess if that's what we really want.

Wish me luck. DH has disappeared from the sofa....must run....got some business to attend to...

I feel SO like AF is on her way.....enormous period pains and that awful throbby/draggy feeling in my womb area .... she's a b1tch that AF. Won't be long now though until we set a date for IVF And it's my birthday on Monday (34)

ChaCha · 14/06/2004 22:39

Just checking in, how is everyone?
Hey BeckiF - Did AF show up?

Its' too hot to BD, LOL!

OP posts:
futurity · 14/06/2004 23:46

My AF is on its way..tomorrow I expect if the pains/hormones/spots are anything to go by! I am 9 DPO today so going on previous months AF should be tomorrow. At least this means I can have my next blood test and get that out of the way. DH has done his "bit" so should have all the results back for appointment with doctor next Friday.

Starting to wonder about the consultants appointment and treatment if it is diagnoised as short luteal phase defect. Even though I know clomid is the wonder drug in this department I am a bit worried about the multiple pregnancy possibility! My friend is expecting twins thanks to it and there is someone locally who had triplets!! (Both these people had PCOS and endometriosis). I just need to think about the possibility so that when the consultant raises it with me I am prepared with an answer (ie if I want to take this drug or not!).

I can't believe that I am having to have treatment to get pregnant..it seems nuts when I conceived so easily last time but I know that means nothing. Annoys me though that I get the impression that people who know I am trying also don't believe that there is a problem because I have DS.."surely she must just be over-reacting!" I imagine they are thinking. I feel like printing out my temp charts to prove it as short luteal phase is such a wishy washy condition to explain.

Sorry..waffling on! You can tell my AF is on its way!!!

ChaCha · 14/06/2004 23:50

Hi Futurity,
Hope everything is good with your results - heres to your next cycle cheers!

OP posts:
BeckiF · 15/06/2004 00:25

Hi ChaCha...nope she hasn't. Symptoms gone mostly for now but then it's been like this for the last 3-4 weeks!!

bluestar · 15/06/2004 11:49

Still nothing happening for me either. Feel in a crappy grumpy mood today so probably means spotting/af will be here in the next few days

futurity · 15/06/2004 12:22

No AF here either. 10 DPO. Last month AF arrived on 12DPO. It seems that all the vitamins I have been taking have increased my luteal phase a bit from 9 which is good. Don't think it is quite enough but glad I have given the vitamins a go.

rosies · 15/06/2004 12:24

dear ladies, i read all your messages and get quite upset as i have no idea how you feel or what you are going through (2 kids, pregnant within a month of ttc).

do, please, consider reflexology, especially with a trained maternity therapist. whilst you are waiting for the IVF right time, it can help to regulate your cycles and maybe increase that important luteal phase. i know it sounds like i am peddling my wears, but i doubt any of you live near enough to me for me to benefit from this advice.

it just seems to me, that its a thing to try, it may not be right for you, but if it helps you to relax AND alters your physiology, isnt it worth giving it a go?

i wish you all well )

unicorn · 15/06/2004 12:39

I'd back Rosies up.. having just finished researching an article on reflexology I have spoken to various women who say it helped them... and 1 in particular who reckons she had tried everything to conceive - nothing worked until reflexology.
I personally know someone who got preg after acupuncture...

futurity · 15/06/2004 12:42

Already doing it Rosies!

Azure · 15/06/2004 12:47

Sounds good about reflexology - how do I get hold of a trained maternity therapist? I'm in London. Futurity - good news if your luteal phase is increasing. Best of luck with your tests etc.

2ticks · 15/06/2004 13:30

Hi everyone - I'm having a bit of a panic about my luteal phase as my cycle has shortened since having ds. I used to have a very regular 28 day cycle, but now it's more like 25/26. I ovulated around CD13, so if my cycle is 25 days, my luteal phase would be 12 days - is that a worry?

Thanks

unicorn · 15/06/2004 13:46

azure- check with the Association of reflexologists... or try the N.C.T they normally have a few that advertise in the local mags.
can't do you a link yet am afraid (will work it out one day!)
