Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Yay fingers crossed it's a sticky one! X

mangocoveredlamb · 21/02/2016 11:42

I'm 10dpo I shouldn't test should I? I'll just be disappointed right?!

AliceScarlett · 21/02/2016 11:53

High chance you will be disappointed. Not long to go :)

I avoid testing early because I don't think I'd deal with a chem very well.

SoozC · 21/02/2016 12:01

My AF is supposed to arrive any moment. The three different apps I have (!!) have three different days - Sat, Sun or Mon to start AF. No cramping yet, which I normally get. Feeling a bit odd this morning - slightly nauseous while eating my scrambled egg this morning and now feeling a bit light-headed. Maybe I'm just coming down with something!

mangocoveredlamb · 21/02/2016 22:27

Fingers crossed SoozC!

stumblymonkey · 22/02/2016 06:23

Congrats Felipa!!!

Remind me...do you have DC already?

I have all fingers and toes crossed that this is a sticky little bean.

Fingers crossed for Sooz too!

Vanillaradio · 22/02/2016 06:59

Soozc that sounds exactly the way I felt prior to bfp with ds, hoping that it is the reason for you too.

SoozC · 22/02/2016 07:28

Thanks, stumbly and Vanilla. Good to know Vanilla - I felt slightly nauseous and abdominally uncomfortable all day yesterday and didn't feel like eating. I haven't had any cramping since Friday and usually I get it 12-24 hours before AF begins. It's due today (according to FF, it was the latest AF due date)... Wondering if I have a little bean in there! Not going to test until I'm properly late, so Thursday or Friday probably. I'm trying not to freak as I don't want that to delay AF if it's due and get my hopes up. But this will be our first and the whole thing is this big unknown!

Felipa · 22/02/2016 11:19

Good luck sooz. I really admire your willpower at not testing!

stumbly this will hopefully be number three.

Having a bit of a wobble this morning though as don't really feel pregnant and am convinced that AF will arrive tomorrow!!

TheresaMarie55 · 22/02/2016 11:47

Fingers crossed sooz!

How old are your other 2 felipa? We will be trying for number 3 (husbands 4th) when I come off the pill. I'm due af on Wednesday and then it's just two more pill packets to go 😁 . X

Avriljen · 22/02/2016 12:12

Congratulations!! How exciting that there are bfps already!

I know performance anxiety has been mentioned before but it has always been on the DH's side when I've read about it. Anyone get it themselves?
My AF finished on Friday so we are now officially ttc, dtd over the weekend unprotected for the first time in 8 years. We would usually use condoms as the pill caused a blood clot so couldn't use it. TMI alert but when we tried to its as if my body didn't want to let him in!! I do want a baby but guess my subconscious was nervous! We did manage and did it again yesterday as well and was easier. Just wondered if anyone else found that? I guess it'll get easier as time goes on and I get used to it.

SoozC · 22/02/2016 12:24

Thanks guys.

Felipa I'm exactly the same! I know af is late now but don't want to hope too much. That's why I'm waiting til later to test - I keep thinking af will turn up tonight or tomorrow.

themightymoosh · 22/02/2016 13:13

Hello!

I think this is the MN thread I have been looking for... The original post describes my situation exactly (33, first baby, been with partner just over a year). Coil was removed today (I was told that the appointment was to 'discuss' its removal but when I said I wanted to get pregnant the GP offered to remove it there and then. Result!)

I bought a couple of cheap pregnancy tests and tucked them away in a drawer. Not going to go nuts over this. Honest.

Congratulations to the positives Grin

wispaxmas · 22/02/2016 14:06

Welcome, mighty!!

Congratulations, Felipa!!! ThanksThanksThanks

stumblymonkey · 22/02/2016 18:01

Welcome mighty

Avril...I know what you mean. I think it's the years of programming ourselves not to have unprotected sex...it feels bizarre the first couple of times when you purposefully aren't using anything!

I'm still on AF. I find it very boring these days as all I can do is wait until it's over. Will be cycle 3 for me already....

Welcome mighty.
I'm feeling much more positive due to presence of EWCM, hooray!

Lemon27 · 22/02/2016 22:52

Congrats Felipa and fingers crossed everything goes great ☺️☺️☺️ Hi to all the new ladies too. Is it true I should be taking folic acid up to 3 months before trying? Better start now so!!

TheresaMarie55 · 23/02/2016 09:05

I will start taking folic acid when I start my last pill packet lemon. I didn't take it at all with my others but will this time. I didn't last time as my diet was very high in it anyway but I don't get as much now as I eat less in general lol x

Flashinthepan · 23/02/2016 09:30

Hi there. DH and I hoping to start trying TTC in the next 2-3 months and planning on starting folic acid when I get back from a work trip. Also planning on being relaxed about the whole thing initially but, I've been reading various threads, and my cycle is only 25 days, which I'm worried won't be long enough to be successful. I came off the pill 4 months ago, so perhaps it will lengthen out, but I've been regular since I stopped taking it. I'm only 27. Any got any insights, I find the whole ovulation/luteal phase thing a bit confusing?

HighHopes16 · 23/02/2016 14:37

Hi Ladies, Can I join you all?

I'm 25 & my husband is 30. I came off the pill in December when we decided we would like to start TTC but my cycles have been all over the place since then. I don't want to get obsessed with temping and tracking on all the apps so we've decided just to try and DTD every other day and see what happens.
I will probably completely change this approach if we don't conceive in the next 6 months or so...

Didn't know I needed to take Folic Acid 3 months PRIOR to conception so will buy some asap. Is folic acid all we need or is it best to get those pre-conception tablets?

dynia · 23/02/2016 14:46

Had a bit of a TTC related freak-out last night as the fertile window looms closer which was a bit funny and unexpected as we've both been pretty gung-ho about this baby thing.

I'm in a bit of a career limbo at the moment, finishing up my PhD (mid-autumn hopefully) with a PT contract until September. We've got 6 months savings in the bank and are living off of husband's salary and banking 90% of mine. Timing wise, if we got babied-up quickly, I could teach in the autumn, take the spring off and pick up work over the summer and hopefully get a postdoc starting next September but it is reliant on quite a few moving parts.

Weirdly worried of my colleagues' impression of me, which I know shouldn't matter but I don't want them to dismiss me as non-serious but also realise that there is no "perfect" time to have a baby and now is as good as any.

dynia · 23/02/2016 14:47

Sorry for the above, a bit of a ramble as I haven't told anyone we are trying and don't have anyone in real life to talk it through with.

NurseAsh88 · 23/02/2016 14:47

Hello everyone :)
I'm Ash, 27, and in a same-sex marriage. Been with my wife for nearly 7 years and we're going to Denmark for our first round of IUI in April/May.

Been taking folic acid/calcium with vit D and magnesium for around 3 months. Always get my 5 a day, rarely drink, never smoked, ideal weight etc so fingers crossed it wont be long for me!

mangocoveredlamb · 23/02/2016 14:49

Flowers Dynia it's tricky sometimes isn't it.

BFN for me this morning, although I'm sure I saw a line. I had miscalculated and think I might actually be on CD11 not 13, so waiting to retest on Thursday/Friday as long as AF doesn't show up before then!
