Do they really expect you to wee in a pot and not test yourself? I can understand when clinics want you to come in for blood test, but how many people can't manage to POAS correctly? Surely they don't have anything better to use than an FRER, and if they do can you steal a few Wink

imps when would you have to decide? If you got a lot of eggs it could be Worth paying for but maybe not if you only had a few. I Think they go in straight away, so ours would have been in the embryoscope even if we didn't get enough fertilised to be a part of teh study. they would already have been in there. Though maybe they have limited space so you would have to book your space.

keepitgoing · 20/01/2016 12:01

Yes ours you had to book ahead, and if on short protocol they couldn't guarantee it. On LP they said they might make you downreg another week, can you imagine!!

I know beedle it's weird, I don't see the benefit of an appt if negative as it's not with the consultant. If +ive you'd need more drugs but... 1st Feb way too long!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 20/01/2016 12:14

I'm just imagining you sat in a Little room whilst they ceremonially dip a stick in your pot of Cold wee. And then you all sit around waiting to see what happens. What is the etiquette for small talk in that situation :o

Actually you need to go and ask them if its ever a surprise for the patients? I Think one brooker Went for her blood test without PIAR first but I'm sure most people would rather find out in the privacy of their own home.

Imps9 · 20/01/2016 12:20

WTAF you're not supposed to PIAR and then tell the clinic the result? That's utterly bonkers. Totes agree with beedles that no one wants to find out the outcome of a preg test in front of, effectively, a complete stranger. Bizarre.

All interesting points re: Eeva/embryoscope and something to discuss in consultation with fanjo doctor. The embryologist had seen all of our data and results so far so must have based the advice on that. They don't strike me as the sort of clinic to just push expensive stuff on to patients to make money, but maybe there is an element of that.

keepitgoing · 20/01/2016 13:05

It's about weighing up the potential benefits though isn't it. It might be good for them to have more information, and possibly to not risk damage from looking at them. But for you/us it's £600 or whatever. It's tough, all these things are a gamble and many the evidence is dubious. We went for the glue this time as 'only' £100 but evidence on that is variable too, if it wasn't I'm sure all clinics would be using it to increase their stats...

Imps9 · 20/01/2016 22:43

I've just remembered - I'm pretty sure Cups used an embryoscope for her successful round - I seem to remember her saying that they embryo they put back wasn't the best looking/most advanced one, but the one which has divided in the right way at the right time (or something like that). Cups if you're out there - have I made that up completely?

Imps9 · 20/01/2016 22:49

So this seems to be the difference between Eeva and embryoscope - either a computer or a person choosing the best embryo (and the price). Hmmmmm lots of questions to ask in the consultation I think (which no one's called me back to arrange annoyingly).

Re: Liverpool Womens – Embryoscope or Eeva?
They've had the embryoscope for longer than EEVA. They don't pull either out they watch them through a camera so can see if they grow abnormally. A computer choses the best embryo's to put bk with EEVA and they embryologist choses with the embryoscope. We found out we're carrying twins yesterday so it was well worth the £700. EEVA is £800 x

You'd Think an embryologist's time would be more expensive than a computer's. Somehow I Think I'd rather a person did the choosing but I can't really explain why. But if it was a choice of Eeva or no embryoscope then I can see the benefit of having the Eeva. But its a lot of money and I'm glad we got it for free! I'm not sure I would have managed to persuade MrB it was worth paying for

keepitgoing · 21/01/2016 06:36

sweetie had it too

keepitgoing · 21/01/2016 09:50

I fucking hate the ivf 2ww. Is yet? Growing? Still alive? beedle hope you're doing better than me. This is the worst part for me, the physical side is quite easy and you just get on with it, and know what's happening. I can't help thinking it may all be over already
Give me a kick up the arse

BeedlesPineNeedles · 21/01/2016 10:22

I keep imagining twinges - its probably gas or something. In some ways this bit is Ok as I can tell myself its too early for any kind of symptom. But next week I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreck waiting for AF to appear or not. And I can't imagine I'm going to feel much better after I've tested. If its negative, well obviously we'll be gutted, but even if its positive we're going to be so worried that its going to go wrong. aarrggh

Imps9 · 21/01/2016 10:32

It is hideous Keep and significantly worse than a normal 2ww, simply because you actually know that there absolutely definitely is an embryo in there. Though that said, I did enjoy having the first 5 days without having to think about it and - given that I am an early tester - there's only 5 days post-ET to wait before a FRER might possibly show positive. So in a way, it is quicker than a normal 2ww but it definitely definitely doesn't feel like it.

I think we will probably go for Eeva if it's available to NHSers. There is a very real chance that Mr Imps' sperm cannot produce viable embryos and I would rather have the opportunity to know that when we're only paying for top-ups, rather than the full kaboodle.

I know what you mean re: person v machine choosing embryo Beedles. I read that a "traditional" embryoscope takes photos every 20 minutes where as EEva takes a photo every 5 minutes which I guess could give a more accurate prediction. I guess that the technology is so knew there's no real stats to say whether it makes any difference whatsoever. Nice to have some advanced technology available to us though - we'd have been a lost cause back in the day I feel.

keepitgoing · 21/01/2016 10:51

Yes I was thinking that very this this morning imps as I brushed my teeth - use eeva when you're doing your nhs round and see if it seems to add any value. Is IMSI a top up? How much is it?

beedle I think they should have implanted. I've not felt anything

Imps9 · 21/01/2016 11:02

IMSI is "only" £350 Keep which surprised me - I'd have thought it would be more.

Imps9 · 21/01/2016 11:03

(Actually I may have got that wrong - I think that was the DNA test. It could be more than that, thinking about it)

BeedlesPineNeedles · 21/01/2016 11:25

I thought the implantation window was Days 7-10 so only just there. i know some people "feel" implantation but I'm sure for most people they don't notice it or think that they need a poo or something :o

Just had another lunchtime walk in the snow and sunshine, and now back inside warming up again.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 21/01/2016 13:34

Are you still getting twinges Beedle? Remind me, was yours a 5 day transfer on Tuesday? In which case you could easily be implanting now, particularly given they would have plonked the embryo in the right place. Since ds2 my body has been weird and I always feel things happening at ovulation and implantation. Talking of which, I am pretty sure I ovulated overnight. My left side was so uncomfortable last night that I couldn't even lie on that side and had to roll onto my right side! Mucus has dried up today. Wasn't any more rat smacking this week so Monday nights sperm would have just reached 48 hours of age. Roll on the next 2 weeks!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 21/01/2016 13:41

I'm not entirely sure they are twinges loopy probably just my jeans digging in or something! I'm just super-aware of anything that could possibly maybe be a sign of something. Yes it was a 5day transfer so it is the right time. Glad you Think you've ov'd you can join me and keep in a stressful 2ww (though we luckily only have a week to go!)

BeedlesPineNeedles · 22/01/2016 08:51

keep how are you today? I was feeling a bit yucky earlier but I Think I was just hungry - I feel much better now I've eaten 2nd breakfast! I don't have sore boobs yet, even though I keep prodding them to check!

keepitgoing · 22/01/2016 12:18

I'm feeling fine beedle... I do have sore boobs but have done since before transfer. Although it's more the nips than the boobs, if you must know!

keepitgoing · 22/01/2016 12:19

I love a good second breakfast btw!
6 days, and we'll know

Imps9 · 23/01/2016 12:58

Might I enquire as to how my favourite PUPOs, 2ww'ers and diffed folk are?

We're doing a round trip to Yorkshire today to pick up the car :/

keepitgoing · 24/01/2016 09:15

Hanging in there - not going to test till Thursday, otd...

Hope you made it a fun journey imps! That's a long way!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 24/01/2016 15:03

On the plus side I think I've been having very minor crampy feelings, but I'm not sure if I'm imagining it. On the minus side I don't have sore boobs - why aren't they sore???

Trying not to think about it too much, I think I've managed at least 5 mins of thinking about other stuff today :o

keepitgoing · 24/01/2016 15:48

I know beedle, it's so hard to tell what's real isn't it!
