keep interestingly the new clinic told mrB he should have a clear out MAX 2 Days Before EC, I Think it ended up being about a day and half Before. Whether we ended up with better quality I have no idea (yet), but with ICSI it definitely is quality not quantity that is important.

I have a scan at 3pm so we will be being dildo-cammed at the same time :o This is a pre-ov scan, I Think its jsut to check Everything looks ok. I haven't been scanned during a FET cycle Before so I wasn't expecting it! I've started with the smiley face ov sticks but it was only a O today (CD 9)

beedle we are hoping to go for ivf not icsi, but will see on the day, imagine they'll try and push £500 icsi. That's interesting on the timing, we will be at 2.5 days. Good luck for your scan, hoping for a nice juicy lining

Scan all good, about 10 follies. Not triggering tonight, prob tomorrow for EC on Thurs, but another scan tomorrow just to check... Ooh it's tricksy for them choosing the right day...

Great news keep I think it it quite hard to know which day will be best. My dr was right we'll do it this day, and then changed her mind and said we'd wait till the day after!

My scan was also fine, lining fine and one follicle at 16mm, so just waiting for a smiley face now. They even gave me a box of cb ov sticks, I'd still got some left from my last FET but I'm glad I hadn't bought any more as I wasn't expecting them to provide them! The perks of private treatment, plus I'd had my scan with the dr and then met the nurse and was out 10 mins after my appointment time!

Scan is at 2.40, have a crazy day at meetings all over the city today, then rush there, and I'm knackered!

No I don't Think we'll try any pre-ov rat smacking. I'd probably end up with triplets or something! Though I might persuade MrB just Before ET (as in the day before not 5 mins :o ) as I think the presence of sperm is supposed to help implantation. Plus if it actually works we'll probably be too scared to have the Sex for ages!

Oh and no i wasn't really expecting a smiley face yet, my google "research" suggests ovulation will happen with a follicle size of 16-30mm and the follicle will grow approx 2mm per day. I'm guessing that with my usual fairly short cycles I won't have a follicle size of 30 mm

We always do it the day before ET too. When it did work we then didn't do it till 7 weeks, whereupon it caused spotting and total freak out from me!

Evening lovelies

Back from a fab consultation with the andrologist. Gist of it as follows:

-we are sticking with Jizzed Sperm rather than Bollock Sperm for now

-the bollocks store sperm in tiny concentrated areas so there is no guarantee he'd find sperm via TESE

-if he doesn't find sperm early on but kept "dissecting the testes" (even I winced at that) until he found it, that could a) fuck up testosterone; b) stop any sperm getting through to jizz in future

• although IMSI can't identify DNA damage there is a strong correlation between damaged sperm and DNA damage. So if only undamaged sperm is used (if there is any) then chances are it's probably okay

• Although studies show that Bollock Sperm has less DNA damage, there is no evidence that pregnancy outcomes are much improved using Bollock Sperm rather than Jizzed Sperm

• we agreed that we'll save Bollock Sperm for our very last attempt (attempts if they find enough sperm for multiple tries)

The best thing about the consultation though was that he could not believe that I'd had an ectopic. He said that he has never ever seen a case where someone had had two spontaneous pregnancies getting to 6 weeks or so, with sperm like Mr Imps'. He genuinely looked shocked and asked if I was sure it was an ectopic! He said that we should take the two pregnancies, as well as good fertilisation rates and getting to blasto stage with a top grade blasto as very good positives.

So we'll keep going with the Jizz and see what happens. Not much else we can do!

What does he mean are you sure it was an ectopic imps? Did he mean that he thought it was DNA damage that caused the Mc? Glad you had a good consultation, loving your terminology... And sounds reassuring. I agree it's all positive signs, you're so nearly there, but not fucking nearly enough!

Keep I suppose an ectopic could clear before anything was visible on a scan, or even before having a scan. If there was something big enough to see on a scan it would mean that the embryo will have survived for a couple of weeks. He did say that the usual problem with very high dna damage is failure to fertilise and implant, although miscarriage risks are higher.

We're still thinking about what to do next, on the assumption that the next round doesn't work. We has decided to start adoption process but are wondering now if a couple of self-funded goes would be good. We were looking at cost yesterday - BH have a scheme where you buy 3 rounds (£12,700 plus cost of meds - eeeeeeek) but if you don't win a baby at the end of it you get 70% refund on the cost. I have to be under 37 though, so we'd have just over a year which should be doable.

Oh, one thing I forgot to add yesterday is that the andrologist is going to speak to the head embryologist to see if he would prefer to use Bollock Sperm. I love that they give so much thought to this.

Ouch imps would you have to pay all of that in one go? Our packet of 3 goes was much much cheaper, though we don't get anything back if we're not successful. But that doesn't matter because we will be!

oh beedle yay that is exciting we will be cycle buddies. if all goes well and we get any to blast we would be Tuesday too, but there's a lot to get through before then for us. one step at a time, hey...

imps I'm also pleased they are thinking about it - it seems you are something of a mystery. I like the sound of a multi cycle package and 70% refund at the end of it if no baby. but it does sound rather expensive. does that include imsi? Our cycle cost here is £2500, £3100 for icsi, plus meds. What if you had frosties, would they be included in addition to the 3 fresh rounds? There is no reason to assume that the next round will fail. you will be having everything to support the pregnancy this time, and you clearly can get pregnant, so that'll be it; sorted!

girls is it weird I'm really looking forward to tomorrow as a day 'off' and time to sleep all day if I want? I've been knackered! I have to go in on my own at 0630 then DH has to drop kip at nursery at 0730 and will be there by 0750 as that's when I go to theatre...
