We have been so busy chatting I've started a new thread. Welcome all 10+ ladies. Hope we all have some luck on this thread.

Thanks Sammy, hate the scans the most! That's brilliant about the positive opk. Will that fit in with your holiday and your next cycle if af is later?

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 12/01/2016 20:43

I know, it's that feeling of dread as you watch their faces looking at the screen! Although I have started to be able to tell just from looking myself whether a scan is good or not! Lol.

Yes so far so good, if I ov tomorrow then that would make af due on 26th/27th, and next af (if body goes back to normal ) on around 22/23. Baseline is booked for 22nd, so would just need to move it by a couple of days! Phew! Xx

lucieloos · 12/01/2016 21:10

Yes exactly she talks me through everything as she's doing it. Normally she will click away and get to 3 or 4 follicles on one side and be like yes that's it for this side. Then I start to panic lol.

That all sounds good on your side! Hope it goes smoothly.

Hi ladies, hope you’re well

trixie great stuff to see Dr Gorgy - a friend saw him for immunes tx alongside her NHS cycle @ Hammersmith, she is now 10 weeks, rates him highly. Apparently not the best communicator but knows his stuff! Good luck, from other ladies I know who are also seeing him for tx, you couldn’t really be in better hands

Lucie hope your stims are going well? Ooh, read lots on Dr Sher’s site about his A/ACP, sounds really interesting. Excited for you! If you’ve managed to get blasts from low egg numbers, it sounds like you have really terrific quality.

DHEA is an interesting one, as Dr Sher is vehemently opposed to it, says it absolutely shouldn’t be given to women with DOR (vs the CHR clinic who pioneered it, who say they have great results) Who knows eh?!!!

Good luck for your tracking scan tomorrow Flowers

Boris keeping everything crossed for your HSG and IVF prep, and hope you’re feeling better? And yes, we all end up having to be such advocates for ourselves, I have read I think pretty much every medical abstract on diminished ovarian reserves going - I sometimes think ignorance is bliss as I would worry less, but then again I also think knowledge is power, and it enables us to ask better questions of our doctors. Double edged sword!

sammy woop for OPK!! Amazing news. Chuffed to bits for you! Do keep us posted how you get on with acupuncture. My therapist did an electro-acupuncture treatment designed specifically to increase blood flow and stimulate the endometrial lining - it didn’t do the trick for me, but my issue isn’t blood flow, but does seem to work wonders for loads of women.

BTW can your clinic check your uterine blood flow? My consultant just flicked something on the ultrasound to do a doppler assessment of the uterine artery when I was in earlier, and could see that the blood flow was looking good - might be worth asking, if they’re not already checking it?

Hoping you get that temp spike soon and the dates all work themselves out.

I had my first tracking scan today (day 8) and consultant was ‘over the moon’ with my response (and a little gobsmacked), as I have……drumroll….Only bloody 14 follies !!! Grin

Absolutely stoked - not too shabby for someone who had an AFC of 5 in September, and AMH of 1.5. And FSH of 17.6 back in July!!

Dr has halved my Gonal-F, and then I’m to drop it again on Thu - next scan is on Friday, he thinks prob trigger Sat and EC Monday.

Lining is ‘fair’ (6.6mm) but he will keep an eye on it - may add in Progynova after Friday’s scan. He checked the blood flow and it was excellent - so it’s definitely an oestrogen thing. By Friday I’ll have been on the Cetrotide for a few days so we should be able to add in the oestrogen without interfering with the follies. Although we don't yet know what impact my high FSH will have had on my egg quality, Dr is hopeful we should have enough embryos (given we also have 6 mature eggs in the freezer to batch together with whatever we get this time) to go to blast. In which case we have a further 5 days of progynova after EC to get the thickness right, so fingers crossed. So, things hopefully heading in the right direction!

Oh, and Dr was also pretty astonished by my spectacularly swollen belly - his eyes nearly fell out of his head. I look 4-5 months pregnant, I am the size of a frigging house (and it is really, really obvious on a size 8 frame). So I think that means I must be pretty bloated if I’m shocking the top fertility Dr with my tummy!!! Confused

lucieloos · 13/01/2016 09:52

I had my scan. I got 8 follicles altogether and they are all within a couple of mm of each other so I'm pleased that they are growing evenly. They are a decent size so just hoping for a nice bit more growth by Friday and we will be all set but at the moment looks like we are definitely off to Czech on SaturdaySmile

loopylou1984 · 13/01/2016 10:15

Woo Lucie! Congrats on the follies, all sounds good.

Still no temp rise for me. Opk still positive but now I've run out so can't test again. I feel a bit like AF is coming which is weird, but fx for temp rise tomorrow. Xx

bananafish81 · 13/01/2016 10:22

Woohoo! Amazing news lucie x

Trixietwenty16 · 13/01/2016 10:40

Great to see so much good news today!
Yay for lots of lovely follicles Lucie and Banana Smile
And great that you've got your +opk Sammy Smile
I feel a bit like I'm cheating on my clinic by going to see Dr. Gorgy as they have said they will prescribe me prednisolone and do the intralipids but my consultant is very much on the fence with the whole NK cell thing and if this is the obstacle stopping IVF from working for us then I want to get the very best advice possible. Brilliant to hear about your friend Banana!

lucieloos · 13/01/2016 17:11

Banana, that's amazing news about your follicles.

Sammy, fingers crossed for a temp rise for you soon.

Trixie, I don't blame you for going to see dr gorgy. It doesn't hurt to get second opinions on these things and he is the expert.

Thanks for all the messages about my scan. Emailed the results to my doctor and he said they look very promising. He has said he thinks egg collection will be Monday which works out well with the flight I've already booked. I would love to be able to collect 6 or 7 eggs like my first cycle. It would really take the pressure off going to blast but I know anything can happen in this process so not getting my hopes up for at the moment.

BorisIsBack · 13/01/2016 19:14

sammy lucie and banana great news.
trixie your expert sounds ideal

AF arrived for me, I tried to book in for the HSG and they only do them locally on a Friday afternoon so i can't get it done for another 6 weeks or so. Does anyone know how significant it would be going for ivf without having it done? My consultant told me it's highly unlikely to show anything given my medical history (no infections, surgery etc). The Czech clinic say they'll do ivf without having done a HSG first.
The Czech clinic has a backlog so no early first consultation which is sad for me, I did so want to try to go in February....

bananafish81 · 13/01/2016 19:34

Boris I'm doing IVF without a HSG. If we were doing IUI or ovulation induction then Dr wouldn't proceed without checking my tubes were patent, but as IVF bypasses the tubes there wasn't any specific need to do this test before the cycle. Obv helpful to know about blockages for TTC naturally - but as IVF is the solution if they are blocked, there wasn't any compelling benefit to doing it in my case xx

BorisIsBack · 13/01/2016 19:42

Thanks banana that's what I thought but then someone told me a HSG was a pre-requisite for ivf and I got confused.

lucieloos · 13/01/2016 19:52

I've never had a HSG either Boris! My UK consultant told me the same that it was highly unlikely to show anything based on my history. What sort of consultation do you need at reprofit? When I started there you just completed the form with your history and that would then be given to a doctor to look at who would then set your protocol. It was all done within a few days of them receiving the form. What do they do nowadays?

OP posts:
BorisIsBack · 13/01/2016 20:04

Thanks lucie I'm not sure what the consultation involves. I was told before christmas that there was no waiting list for initial consultations so I assumed it was just part of the standard process (as it seems to be with gennet). I'll follow up with them Friday if I don't otherwise hear back. The doctor has my form now so we will see. It's all so exciting/terrifying/confusing.

lucieloos · 13/01/2016 21:23

Yes definitely chase them up and keep us posted. It certainly is exciting/terrifying and confusing all rolled into one!

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 14/01/2016 06:34

Think I got excited too soon. Still no temp rise and it feels like af is going to rock up any second. I'm out of opks so can't even check what's going on there. I'm done with this and my stupid body. Why can't it just do what it's supposed to? I'm starting to think I'm just not meant to have a baby.

lucieloos · 14/01/2016 07:13

Sorry to hear that Sammy, you will get your baby though I'm sure of it. We are all fighting really hard for them and we all have our different problems. You with your lining, me with my smaller number of eggs and trixie with her immunes but we will overcome these things and get our beautiful babies just don't give up.

OP posts:
Trixietwenty16 · 14/01/2016 10:23

Oh no Sammy, can you pick up some more opks at lunchtime? Of course you are meant to have a baby, we all are, we've just got more challenges to overcome than most. It will be worth it in the end though x x

Like Lucie and Banana say I wouldn't worry about the hsg Boris. I remember my Consultant saying that if there was a significant tubal blockage then you'd likely be able to tell from a scan.

Exciting/terrifying/confusing is a good summary of pre IVF! I remember before starting IVF being absolutely convinced that I would be one of those people who fell pregnant the month before and wouldn't actually have to go through with it. There is so much support on here though and I found the whole process easier than I thought it would be.

Pikz · 14/01/2016 10:53

Lucie very exciting to hear about your eggs and banana

Boris a hysteroscopy and hsg were the first things suggested to me but I have a very different history. If it isn't going to make any different then it's a lot of money for nothing.

Sammy you are going to get your baby. I know how frustrating these stupid cycles are. Mine were never ever regular when ttc and I remember on the day of my big surgery af just randomly arrived and they nearly cancelled it. It all felt so very unfair. Are you taking the cq10? My lining was massively improved by that, maca root and reflexology. Remember that you can ovulate 2-3 days after the positive opk, it used to happen to me as I would catch the start of the big surge. Big hugs.

lucieloos · 14/01/2016 17:39

Thanks Pikz, hope you are well. Final scan tomorrow. Praying they have grown more and are all still there!

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 14/01/2016 18:51

Thank you everyone, I'm sorry I'm being so negative. Tonight opk (bough boots own) is very nearly positive so either I have ovd today or this is another false alarm.

Lucie - wishing you so much luck for tomorrow.

Pikz - I did start taking CoQ10 this cycle. I'm wondering if that is what has delayed ov... Is that possible? Xx

BorisIsBack · 14/01/2016 19:10

sammy I wonder if a degree of stress about what's going on could also have impacted you?

lucie I have everything crossed for you.

loopylou1984 · 14/01/2016 19:12

I dunno Boris, maybe? Although I've been feeling pretty chilled about things since I got my head round having to wait until end of February for treatment. I've def felt more stressed before and still had af/ov happen on time. Xx

BorisIsBack · 14/01/2016 19:42

Maybe not then! I know I get AF like symptoms when stressed.

Trixietwenty16 · 14/01/2016 21:07

Sammy, I only took Co enzyme Q 10 (together with a few other supplements) for a little while but I suspect that it caused me to have a long cycle. I had a long cycle recently too when I was taking a Zita West conception supplement which had co enzyme Q 10 in. Loads of people seem to take it without it delaying cycles so thought it was just me.

Good luck for tomorrow Lucie!
