5 CHEMICAL PREGNANCIES

cocothomas1234 · 06/10/2015 09:51

Just had my 5th 'chemical pregnancy' in a row. Can't quite believe it now, it's just becoming the norm for me. I can't ever imagining seeing that little line get progressively darker the way it should. I'm testing positive 9-10dpo each time and each time the line gets stronger for a 3-6 days days then all of sudden my symptoms stop and the line fades away. I went to the doctors and she said it's a 'good sign' my bodies rejecting bad cells and that I'm getting pregnant so easily in the first place, but whats the point if I can't hold them?? I'd rather not get pregnant at all… my body and my hormones are in a total mess and this is starting to affect my relationship. Whats stopping my little one's from hanging on? They can't all be bad cells, something must be stopping them. I just don't know what to do. I'm on all the best vitamins and I even tried baby aspirin this time round. I just don't know what to do anymore...

Hello ladies,

I hope you don’t mind me hopping on. I’ve had 2 chemicals in 6 months, one 5+3 and one 4+3. I’ve been referred for routine bloods, but I wanted to ask when do you take the baby aspirin? Is it daily through our entire cycle or only from a certain point?

Thank you would really appreciate the help

Crayon7 · 15/01/2021 11:58

@daisyorange2 it is on your own risk so I would suggest to do your research. It meant to thin the blood and increase blood flow there to help implementation I think.

I take no medicines and have no condition that would need to worry over aspirin so trying that. But I would say definitely do your research.

I think bromelain works similar way but you take it like 3-8dpo only and baby aspirin I seen people taking in various times so best to do your own research

Hi I just saw this thread as well. I have just went through 3 chemical pg. It is quite hard. Have done some initial check and seems all good. My GP can't refer me before I do a scan. And I can't get a scan until 2-3 weeks later. Then I have to wait to see when the specialist want to see me. I think it's going to be a long wait. I decided to go and get some low dose Aspirin as well. I actually don't have blood clodding issue. But people say sometimes it's a undetected one as well. I brought some progesterone cream online and it will take a few weeks to arrive. I think I'll give these a go and see how it goes. All three of mine never made to five weeks. Normally I test on the day of my missed period and find out I'm pg then 2-3 days later I started bleeding(Normally 16DPO start bleeding). One thing I notice is all three time I ovulate later than usual, D17-D19 ish, I normally D16. And also I never really get a very strong OPK. It's just from the stronger ones I find out I'm about to O. I do think that is a factor too? Anyone else have similar issue? I chart my temps as well, I think my LH phase is around 11-13 days so it seems fine.

I thought I would come back and update to give anyone else the hope that I got from this original post. I had my 12 week scan yesterday and all is fine! After a total of 6 miscarriages this one is looking good. I took baby aspirin and pregnacare Max everyday from ovulation. Whilst I will never know whether or not this helped, in my case, it’s certainly something to recommend trying. Personally I believe everything happens for a reason and think it is more luck than anything but who knows. The things I have learnt is that early testing will drive you mad and doesn’t really achieve a lot, some people just have a more difficult time than others, it’s possibly just life and you will get there in the end, keeping plugging away each month! Good luck to everyone else, your time will come x

Icklemissgem · 18/03/2021 08:56

@321xxx
Thank you so much for the update it is so nice when you see a thread with an outcome! Congratulations on your lovely news 🥰🥰
I am currently going through my fourth chemical in a row, I was prescribed progesterone pessaries this time around and still had a loss 😞 all blood tests so far have come back as normal so not sure where to go from here!!
Good luck on your journey xxx

heavenwards22 · 21/03/2021 23:41

@Icklemissgem
I just went through my 4th CP in Feb. 4 in a row as well. I'm going privately to see a specialist this week. All the blood tests are good so far. I even did a progesterone test this cycle, I always thought that might be the issue, but obviously it's not. Mine is pretty good.

321xxx · 22/03/2021 13:57

One thing I should probably add which helped me come to terms with the situation. I did a lot of research into the private options and had a consultation with Prof Regan, one of the best recurrent miscarriage consultants in the country. Firstly she told me that one of the most important things to consider is that 50% of miscarriages will never be explained. She also told me of a book she has written which is well worth a read but essentially meant I came to lots of dead ends. It was at this point I managed to accept that this was just going to be how it was and I just had to dig deep and “get on with it” as such. Keep the faith and if anything I have posted gives anyone that little bit of extra hope then I’m glad to have helped, I know how much of a dark place it can be. Good luck ladies and I do hope I’ll never have to be back on here!

charlotte0808 · 13/04/2021 21:01

@cocothomas1234 hi I know this is from years ago but I've read right through your thread as I'm currently going through my 3rd chemical. Loosing hope slowly and mentally drained with it all 😞 read it was going really well for you and just wondered if everything was ok? X

Catmum55566 · 13/04/2021 22:05

Hi @charlotte0808. I am currently also going through my 3rd early miscarriage. I have had x2 at 4 weeks and x1 at 6. I have just had a read of this thread and good to see there are some positives after multiple losses. I agree that it is very draining. Have you had any investigations? You can get refered by your GP after 3. I am currently booked in for some private tests next month.

charlotte0808 · 13/04/2021 22:11

Hi @Catmum55566 I had my first bloods done Monday and was hcg 45 so I knew something was up started bleeding today then no clots yet though. Next bloods tomorrow in epu to see if they have doubled but obviously I'll tell them what's gone on she did tell me Monday if it happened again I'll be referred to recurring miscarriages. I do feel a little better reading the thread too. To be honest I wasn't even suprised when it started earlier I just thought 'here we go again 🙄' it's taken away happiness and excitement of any future pregnancy too even if it would be successful xx

Catmum55566 · 13/04/2021 22:22

Oh no, sorry to hear that. I know exactly what you mean about not being surprised anymore. When it has happened before you feel like you know what is coming! I even tried asprin this cycle but it didn't help. Do you have any theories on what is causing it? In my case I think it might be hormonal as I ovulate late with a short lp. I seem to get pregnant easily but they can't progress for some reason. I hope you get some good news at EPU tomorrow and if not somewhere with the referal. Although things seem bleak now I do believe we will get there in the end! x

charlotte0808 · 13/04/2021 22:54

Same as a few ladies on here I read about progesterone for the lining of the womb so it can implant properly I think mine is low but then again that is usually if you have ovulation problems and mine are always smack on period is always 5 days 28 day cycle and ovulate when suppose to track with tests. What does aspirin do to help then? Doctor told me to use pregnacare instead of my folic acid which I tried but makes no difference. In epu Monday she told me that women change a few things as advised to do after being referred like aspirin etc and they catch and have a healthy pregnancy and baby and they say it's because of that it helped but she said it's all psychological mostly and it's just happened to be the right time after a few miscarriages x

IloveGod2 · 14/04/2021 07:14

Morning all. Thought I'd join as I've also suffered 2 mc since jan. Its so hard especially when the reason is unknown. Sorry for all ur looses. I've decided to take a month or two to change some stuff. So take ubiquinol for egg quality and other vits. Thank God gyms open so looking to loose a bit of weight. Also learnt about a usa doctor and she's recommended fruits/ veg to help the uterus, lining, etc. So by Gods grace these months of change will make a positive outcome. Amen 🙏🙏

ThornAmongstRoses · 14/04/2021 08:07

When trying to conceive my second son I had two early miscarriages/chemicals and a few late and heavier periods than normal so after ten months I went to see my GP.

I was still breastfeeding my first son at this point which he said may be the cause as breastfeeding causes progesterone levels to be low, and progesterone is what makes the uterine wall hospitable for a fertilised egg to implant and develop.

My GP told me that technically I could have got pregnant every month (I.e the egg be fertilised in the Fallopian tube) but that it couldn’t implant into my uterine wall because it was suboptimal quality.

Catconfusion · 08/05/2021 19:34

Hey ladies, this is not the thread I’d hoped to join but I’ve had two chemical pregnancies since January. I’m older at 41 years old but only had my son a year ago so had hoped conceiving number 2 would be easier. I would definitely recommend baby aspirin and progesterone. I took these throughout my pregnancy with my son and he stuck. My GP prescribed the progesterone so push if they fob you off. It is available on the nhs and is a cheap drug. It’s just not common practice to prescribe, doesn’t mean they can’t.

Before him I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks and then a chemical. I had a four month break because I was traumatised and then I conceived my son.

The first chemical in January I didn’t take the aspirin or progesterone as it was an accident and it was over not long after I found out. I took both during the last one and I still lost it. I might up the dose to twice a day if I get pregnant again as the dose I’ve been prescribed is very low.

Anyway I thought I’d bookmark the thread as it’s such a horrible thing to go through and it’s good to have support! Xx

choccrumpet · 08/05/2021 21:29

Hi ladies, I've been keeping an eye on this thread and it's lovely to see some positive stories!

I've had about 5 chemicals in the last 9 months, most ending as my period was due and a couple went on a bit longer but not by much. I tried aspirin, both 75 mg and 150 mg for 2 cycles and they didn't change the outcome of those pregnancies so I decided to stop.

My cycles have been getting longer with later ovulation (not sure why, because of back to back chemicals maybe) so I tried soya isoflavones but they didn't help bring my ovulation forward. I'm also taking pregnacare multi vits. I'm about to start acupuncture to see if it helps regulate my cycle and bring ovulation forward.

In the middle of my 2ww at the moment, have been feeling "symptoms" but think it's unlikely that I've conceived this cycle and I feel okay about that. I am trying to remain positive / hopeful and believe that it'll happen when the timing is right.

Icklemissgem · 08/05/2021 21:47

Hi all
I have also been following this thread and it’s so nice to hear other stories and also people in similar positions.

I have had 4 chemicals the last 5 cycles, I tried progesterone the last cycle and it didn’t seem to work for me 😞

We have had a break of one cycle and are going to try again this cycle, currently CD5 so will be tracking ovulation and hoping for the best 🤞🏻

We have our first appointment with a recurrent miscarriage clinic in June.

Good luck to you all and looking forward to any updates x

I'm now 9 weeks after 4 CPs (one on progesterone) after taking part in this trial.

choccrumpet · 12/05/2021 16:48

@NoCallerID congratulations! That's amazing. How did you become part of that trial? That's so interesting

NoCallerID · 12/05/2021 18:57

@choccrumpet I was under der recurrent miscarriage clinic (Prof Quenby) and she recommended I take part.

Here's some more information incl contact details. Always worth the question!

Hi, I just wondered if anyone else on here is over 40? I’m nearly 42 and going through my 3rd chemical pregnancy in a row. I can’t quite believe it’s happening again. Up until now I’ve for some reason thought age wouldn’t affect us. We had our ds last year with no problems so assumed baby number 2 would be easy. Guess I probably need to accept its going to be more difficult than I thought! x

SleepyMomLady · 21/06/2021 23:25

@Catconfusion I just stumbled upon this thread and I'm shocked and happy that it's still active after 6 years! I am 40 and pregnant for the 4th time in the past 12 months: 2 chemical pregnancies, one 8 week miscarriage which I lost less than a month ago and now a somewhat unplanned but very desired 4.5 weeker...but with falling morning temps... so, not looking terribly hopeful, again. I have a handful of children, and zero problem getting pregnant until this past year, (granted, it's been a few years since my last successful pregnancy). I too was shocked that perhaps age has caught up with me. I don't feel old. It's a hard reality that 2 lines on a stick aren't a reason to get excited, yet. :( Best of luck to you!

Catconfusion · 24/06/2021 17:19

Hi @SleepyMomLady, I really hope you’re wrong and it works out ok. Have you had any investigations for recurrent miscarriage? There could be something else going on maybe other than getting older. Fingers crossed for you. Xx
