5 CHEMICAL PREGNANCIES

cocothomas1234 · 06/10/2015 09:51

Just had my 5th 'chemical pregnancy' in a row. Can't quite believe it now, it's just becoming the norm for me. I can't ever imagining seeing that little line get progressively darker the way it should. I'm testing positive 9-10dpo each time and each time the line gets stronger for a 3-6 days days then all of sudden my symptoms stop and the line fades away. I went to the doctors and she said it's a 'good sign' my bodies rejecting bad cells and that I'm getting pregnant so easily in the first place, but whats the point if I can't hold them?? I'd rather not get pregnant at all… my body and my hormones are in a total mess and this is starting to affect my relationship. Whats stopping my little one's from hanging on? They can't all be bad cells, something must be stopping them. I just don't know what to do. I'm on all the best vitamins and I even tried baby aspirin this time round. I just don't know what to do anymore...

coco where did you get the baby asprin I'm supposed to taking it but can't get in the doctors till next week xx

CottonSock · 09/11/2015 20:35

asprin is normal dispersible asprin from pharmacy, but make sure its the right dose.

Kane, I think my flow is pretty average. Cycle length was longer after first mc, but seems back to 28 days recently. Worth asking about though.

wantingno2 · 09/11/2015 20:43

I got it from the pharmacy in side tesco befor 75mg I had it with my son as I had 8 miscarriages befor I had him x

cocothomas1234 · 10/11/2015 10:51

Hi girls, update - did another test this morning and still very dark so for the moment everything's still good! Still no symptoms but as I had such strong ones so early with all the chemicals I'm not going to go by that.

Kane I'm with you on that - my flow has changed dramatically since my first chemical. I used to be very heavy and run exactly 5 days, since the first chemical I've been having very weird periods, they've all been stop and start, passing clots at first then very light from then on, the last one I had was the same. It's been playing on my mind that I should take a month out to try and let things sort themselves out but with after reading everywhere that you're more fertile than ever after a loss I couldn't help but keep trying.

Some GPs suggest waiting at least one cycle between chemicals, but (and only based on what I've read) the big boys say it doesn't make a difference so keep trying.

I had my lining measured in July and it came back at 9mm. Nothing else of concern, ovaries etc all normal. I bookmarked this page at the time, incase it helps you it might be a bit reassuring?

www.advancedfertility.com/lining-thickness-egg-donation.htm

I've been taking the Tesco 75mg Aspirin, just little white tablets you swallow.

Coming up to 5 weeks now xx will keep you all posted, stay with me! xx

Thanks so much coco will have a good read later but im back to consultant tonight so rushing to get ready....am so glad lines still look good are u going for an early scan?? Dont u dare leave me ur giving me hope and stalking for updates excited for you after so many chemicals Flowers xx

cocothomas1234 · 11/11/2015 11:07

Kane how did you appointment go??

I'm doing a test each morning to keep myself sane and I've attached Tesco cheapies from the past 3 mornings, bottom one was FMU done today at 16dpo. I'm still coming up on digital at 2-3 weeks which is just right so all is looking good! I've got slightly sore boobs today for the first time and am just getting a very faint niggling of nausea coming on now and then.

I haven't got my docs appointment for a couple of weeks yet, I'll see if they'll do an early scan as I really want one for reassurance but it's unreal how many of them don't think it's even the slightest worry that this is the 6th time I've been pregnant this year. They think I've just had 'a run of very bad luck' as the last one put it.

Keep me posted and let me know what happened last night! xxx

Wow they look great!!! Get the cheap dip strips and save yourself some money that must be costing you a fortune although im sure ur happy enough Smile

Yesterday went well thanks he believes its recurrent implantation failure but since my clotting issues have come back normal and my nk cells are normal hes stumped as well. Basically he told me he dosent know the cause and wouldnt commit to my lining being too thin. He gave me clexane, small dose steroids, folic acid, aspirin, small dose of estrogen in patch form to try and improve my lining and progesterone so hes attacking it from all angles....if this dosent work i dont know what ill do!! Xx

cocothomas1234 · 11/11/2015 15:08

It's reassuring that everything's coming back normal though so hopefully either it is genuinely bad luck (I was so angry when my GP said this but if this pregnancy does work out okay I can't help wondering if they were right) or its something that will fix itself.

I was using the Amazon 30 for £5 dip tests but I ran out at an awkward 10dpo (certainly running up the credit card bill but it's keeping me calm so right now I'm telling myself it's money well spent :S!).

That's a really great line up he's given you, gonna give you such a good chance. I'm really rooting for you hun, where are you in your cycle? xxx

I'll post again in a couple of days but I don't think I'll be relaxed fully till I see this bean on a screen! xx

Aww am so excited to hear about ur 1st scan will be keeping everything crossed that all is looking as it should!!

I know i never want to hear it when doctors say it but not a single thing is coming up as wrong (which i quess is good!) And yes am pleased i have the full whack of treatment so keeping the hope up that this will eventually work out...

Am 6dpo today so will be testing from sat as i need to know if i have another chemical as he wants me to come back if i do so fingers crossed tightly for both of us....its probably safe for you to step away from the sticks Wink mind you i probably wouldnt either lol xxx

Vap0 · 12/11/2015 08:14

So pleased its sticking coco! Your tests look great. I never had one as dark as that! Everything crossed for you.
Thank you for the info on baby aspirin. I'll get some today and start taking. I presume with it being such a low dose it won't be a problem to take when you're not pregnant?
This also spurrs me on if when I get that bfp again il be banging the Drs door down for progesterone and if they won't give it will go privately.

This thread is giving me hope! Thanks for all the updates!

CottonSock · 13/11/2015 09:39

Tests looking great xx

cocothomas1234 · 13/11/2015 11:54

Still going good girls - haven't tested for a couple of days and just did a waitrose cheapie and it's come up as dark as the control line so I'm feeling good! Very strange that with all the chemicals I had early symptoms and with this still nothing at all but slightly tender boobs. Wonder if there's a reason for that it's weird.

3 people now have suggested maybe I can't carry boys, it is a bit of an old wives tale but - out of the 22 cousins I have 20 of them are girls, who knows, there are just so many thoughts and opinions on all this out there.

Noticed that Seven Seas and most own store brand prenatal vits have far less B6 in than Pregnacare range so for that reason I'm switching to just Pregnacare to be safe from now on.

I've driven myself nuts looking for more info and experiences on the web on chemical pregnancies this past year so I'm hoping writing all this will help others in the future too. Update soon girlies xx please keep me posted on how you are all getting on and I will too xx

Kane send us an update over the weekend if you can xx I'm keeping everything crossed for you lovely xx

OP posts:
CottonSock · 13/11/2015 15:32

Someone told me the can't carry boys theory. I can't see how it makes sense as there would be a significant gender imbalance in the world? I have a girl though, and secretly (not so) would love another :)

kanelindsey · 13/11/2015 20:29

Hi coco glad to hear all is progressing well!! Im a poasaholic so of course have been testing with the cheap strips the past two mornings...all the chemicals have shown a faint bfp of either day 9,10 or 11dpo so will be using more expensive tests from tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed...am bloated as all holy hell but am guessing thats from the steroids :-( xx

wantingno2 · 13/11/2015 20:54

Looking good for you coco I'm so pleased remember I told you about my 8 miscarriages befor I had my son well when 8 wad pregnant with my son the doctor put me on aspirin I went to see him yesterday because I'm pregnant again 4+2 I've been poas like mad to so I can see the line get darker lol well anyway my doctor has put me on aspirin again and high dose folic acid he said he thinks the miscarriages could be due to blood clotting so maybe it's the same for you coco so it's good ur taking the aspirin wishing you all the luck in the world I got loads of dark lines on the first responses over the past few days and it was darker then the control line yesterday I got a pregnant 1-2 weeks on Monday and it was 2-3 today so hopefully all is going well xx

Vap0 · 15/11/2015 09:33

Hi ladies
Just another quick question about this low dose asprin. I bought some the other day and have been taking it for a few days but read the info sheet yesterday and it said not to take it if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant. Any ideas?
coco so pleased this one is sticking

CottonSock · 15/11/2015 09:48

Probably taking asprin should be on advice of a Dr if pregnant.

wantingno2 · 15/11/2015 12:04

You shouldn't take it unless advice by ur doctor or consultant it is used in pregnancy for women who are high risk for blood clots it thins the blood to help improve blood flow to the uterus.

cocothomas1234 · 16/11/2015 09:03

Whilst I do agree in general with 'don't so something unless the doctor tells you to', 75mg of aspirin can't harm you. It's an incredibly low dose.

The problem I had was that I went to 2 doctors after my 5th loss and they both looked at me like I had 3 heads when I mentioned baby aspirin, they had no idea what I was talking about and why this could help. Then when I suggested progesterone supplements they both said I don't need it or to be tested for it as I'd carried to full term before so I was fine, I've since found that these levels can change dramatically through your life so they were worringly wrong. With my fertility clinic first appointment 3 months away I decided to try the baby aspirin because that's all I could do for myself, sometimes we are turned away so many times and left so desperate we have to make our own decisions so I did and right now whether it helped or not I'm pleased I did. Remember that when the consultants/GPs put women on baby aspirin they don't do any tests first to make sure you can go on it, it's just precautionary in most cases as a 'hit from all angles', their main concern is if someone goes out and gets it wrong then puts themselves on a full 300mg a day dosage which is understandable.

So Vap0 it was my decision to put myself on baby aspirin through desperation and having done a huge amount of reading I was confident this dosage was safe. If you have a GP or fertility appointment coming up I'd strongly suggest waiting to hear what they say before making a decision f you are all worried (usually you can just call you GP for some quick reassurance, try to get one who specialises more in pregnancy if possible).

On another note of hope my little one's still going strong, I did a CBD this morning for the hell of it and got my first 3+ so I'm happy :) I'm seeing my midwife this week and have no doubt she'll give me a good rollocking for putting myself on baby aspirin and suggest whether I come off it or stay on it so I'll keep you all posted xxx

wantingno2 · 16/11/2015 09:50

I completely agree with your reasons as I was much the same ad you befor I had my son alot of people don't understand the desperation when they haven't been in that situation themselves I'm now 4+6 with my second and like you praying that it sticks I've also been doing test after test to watch the line get darker I've done a few cbd aswell i got 2-3 weeks on 4 days ago so going to do another in a couple of days x

Vap0 · 16/11/2015 11:57

Thanks for your opinion coco and so pleased for you that this one is getting stronger. Everything crossed for you. After reading the suggestions not to take it on here yesterday I spent a few hours reading about it online, what people have been told by dr's, news articles etc and I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to continue taking it. The dose is so light that I can't find any evidence that it can do any harm. If it thickens up lining that will be a great thing for me as even though over never had mine measured I'm pretty sure it will be thin as af is so incredibly light and only lasts for a day and a half and if that's all there is for it to stick to I'm not in with much hope. It will be interested to see if af is heavier this month after about 2 weeks of taking the asprin. Next appointment is with the fertility hospital in late January to be put on the IVF list. I will ask his opinion on it when I'm there and see what he says although he is a horrible man and will not accept anything that he doesn't suggest. Although I may not ask him as I'm not telling him about my mc as I know this will delay IVF for another 9 months which I can't face when we are already 27 months into waiting. So difficult to know what to do. Maybe I'll book an appointment with my gp? Infertility is so crap! And there just isn't the help out there by medical professionals and they don't give out enough information which means people have no choice to rely on forums and hear say. It's just so frustrating. To think my dr thinks I will just go away for 6 months and not want to know anything more about the situation is just ridiculous. Rant over. Sorry.

cocothomas1234 · 16/11/2015 13:10

Wanting I'm so happy for you and keeping everything crossed! Please let us know how you get on, I love seeing a dark test now, it's having a present out of your stocking, just can't help but have a peak! I know what you mean about people who haven't been there not understanding, a close friend of mine who's not ready for children yet surprised me by turning round saying 'it doesn't really matter though if doesn't happen this time you've already got one' Think my mouth hit the floor.

Vap0 I think the main thing with anything is when (if) you decide to stop just do it gradually, cut it down to one every other day or cut them in half just taper off. It's such a tiny dosage anyway. I'm so sorry your consultant is an arse, it's the biggest time in your life when all you want is reassurance and support the last thing you need is a someone treating you like an idiot and being cold. I have lost a huge amount of faith in GPs through this, I wouldn't expect them to know the ins and outs as it's not their speciality but I had to explain to them that aspirin improved blood flow and that decent levels of progesterone was needed for a successful pregnancy, they just looked at me dumbfounded and said 'wait till it's been 1-2 years then we'll refer you'… grrr.

27 months is crazy, I'm feel for you so deeply, you're a brave woman. Just do whatever feels right for you and whatever you need to do to get your little baby xx preying for some good news soon my lovely xx
