TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Thanks for the welcome bunch, runner and purple :)

I've felt crap since coming off cerelle- my boobs hurt so much I haven't been wearing a bra the last few days because my nipples are so sore (tmi sorry)- DH thinks they've got bigger too! I've had dull aches in one left side, period pain, back ache, weight gain, CM, sickness, mood swings etc etc basically all the symptoms of AF/PG!! Just want my cycle back so I can start tracking properly.

Thing is... we haven't been actively ttc in last two weeks (we are once-a-weekers most of the busy times), but we haven't been careful either, so a little part of me is hoping I'm already pg! Dreaming I know x

shelbTa · 15/10/2015 17:54

Welcome bonjour!!! Interesting, I had PID too (severe, in hospital on drip) two years ago. So I totally emphasise with you in that respect and great (can I say that?!) that someone else is in the same boat (although I wouldn't wish it on anyone of course!) so can share any worries. I'm coming off pill late December (been on it ten plus years).

Purple - totally re the pm!! Tuna is a well expensive fish too / idiot!!

Hello all, can I join too. Married DH in July and had planned on waiting until December 2016 to TTC (though could never pin DH down to fix a date).

Anyway, met up with friend with newborn baby recently, went home, got ridiculously broody and upset that we would have to wait for over a year to start trying. DH made a U turn and said we could start trying immediately!!

I thought it would be sensible to wait till December to avoid Summer born but that seems less of an issue now due to revised school admissions policy so tempted to start sooner.

So - nice to meet you all.

Runner05 · 15/10/2015 18:27

purple sorry to hear you're still poorly.

bonjour you never know, do you have any way of working out when you should test?

I think that the both the PM and the guy who went should have been fired. The guy who went was too much of an idiot to stay.

bonjourjellybean · 15/10/2015 19:48

ShelbTa- great to be in the same boat as someone trying at such a similar time :) PID is yack- mine came after years and years of infections/bladder issues general horribleness, many investigative procedures, then turned out I had that- didn't respond to treatment and got it again.

Bergamot- my reasons for trying in December were the same- I'm a teacher so wanted to play my maternity at good times (ridiculous I know) and with the revised policy/letting nature decide we decided to relax slightly.

Runner- going to test next Wednesday as that's 3 weeks from stopping the pill (unless AF turns up in the meantime that is...) and I've tried to make a pact (with myself?!) that I will only test once a month. Pah! Like that will happen if AF doesn't turn up x

BergamotMouse · 15/10/2015 20:00

Bonjour - I'm also a teacher so it would be perfect to plan a September baby as it would be so much easier to leave at the end of a year and just return the following year in September. Also would be nice to have 14 months maternity.

I would have to be so lucky though to conceive in first month. But a July / August baby would also work.

Runner05 · 16/10/2015 07:33

Hi mouse sorry, I completely missed your message befor.

Right, no one talk about last nights apprentice, I haven't seen it yet.Grin

BunchOfBobs · 16/10/2015 08:25

Eek me neither. Only just spotted it was on last night.

Baby talk resumes until after Runner and I have caught up Wink

purplesmiler · 16/10/2015 11:05

Morning Ladies,

I am feeling on the mend today, working at home so am just having a quick coffee break as been at it since the early hours but its Friday wohoo.

My AF is causing a bit of discomfort today, I didnt have them while on the pill so its getting used to it again.

I keep getting excited about the thought of a baby growing inside me one day (soon hopefully). I am going to try not to test until a few days before we go on holiday which is two weeks tomorrow. Partly as we will have been TTC for three weeks then but also as I want to know if I can have a cocktail or will it be mocktail on my jollies. I have prepared myself mentally that it may take some time TTC.

Hope everyone is well today. The apprentice was good last night enjoy ladies.

Runner05 · 17/10/2015 21:10

Hey all, how you doing?

Runner05 · 17/10/2015 21:16

Oops didn't mean to press done :-s

I've spent the past 24 hours in tummy bug hell :-( most unfair as I've only just got over the flu properly.

Has anyone else noticed that the Christmas busy period has snuck up quick? I thought I was on top of things but after this weekend we won't have a single weekend before Christmas when we aren't going to parties or hosting parties :-s
My work team party has just been booked for 17th which is after I come off the pill. I'm a bit concerned that people will wonder why I'm not drinking... My boss has already been snooping for info on my family plans. Not nastily, but it's a bit uncomfortable.

BunchOfBobs · 17/10/2015 21:17

Evening Runner and all.

Did you catch up on the apprentice?

We're having a DIY weekend frenzy here. Spent the day ripping out a kitchen and tomorrow ripping up the floor tiles. DH very shattered, don't think they'll be any extra curricular activities for us this weekend. Boo

Has anyone else done any Google searches for baby related queries and along with the usual MN links there are other similar forums. They don't say DTD on them they say BD= baby dance..... It makes me cringe! Anyone else?

Runner05 · 17/10/2015 22:02

Yes, up to date on apprentice now Bunch :-)

I tried net mums before I joined mums net but it really irritated me. Everyone spent far more time talking about their partners cheating or similar than they did talking about ttc and quite frankly if I wanted to know about that I'd watch Jerry Springer instead of coming on here.
I've also seen a lot of American forums that are just filled with God squad (no offence to Christians or any other religion ment) going on about how it's God who chooses if you get pregnant etc Hmm i like it better here! Grin

shelbTa · 18/10/2015 19:04

Hi everyone,

Ah runner that's rough - how are you feeling now?

Bunch - 'babydance'?! Oh no. I've seen some 'baby dust' things on here.

Yeah Christmas is speeding along hey!

Runner - yeah I'll be in the same boat as you having just come off the pill end of December, but don't think I'll be 'fertile' till after NYE.

Got impending AF, I very rarely get period pains though, my worst pains is down my groin during (according to ovia) ovulation period - I never put two and two together before, but having scoured the internet like a woman obsessed it seems you do non ovulate on the pill so go knows what's going on.

Runner05 · 18/10/2015 19:20

Feeling a bit better now, I've seen more of the inside of my bathroom than I'd like this weekend and have now decided it needs decorating lol.

shelb I ended up reading the instructions that came with my pill and it said that you "shouldn't" ovulate while taking them but if you do they make it difficult for sperm to reach the egg and for the egg to implant. I know I didn't ovulate this month but I'm 100% certain I ovulated last month. So I'm not sure what to believe.

I have now decided not to stop drinking until I get my BFP, couple of reasons for this. It could take a long time to get BFP and my OH is upset about losing his drinking buddy, a couple of Dr's on another thread said that while the official line is don't drink, drinking in moderation in the weeks until your first missed period won't actually hurt (most people do without realising their pregnant anyway!) and finally... I consider two pints of cider a heavy night so not exactly going to go out and get hammered Confused

Are any of you ladies taking/planning to take pre-conception vitamins? And if so which brand? I'm currently taking folic acid and vitamin C as I didn't think it would hurt to get it into my system and I think it was the NHS website that recommended taking folic acid for 3 months before ttc, but I'm now thinking of switching to a conception vitamin once I come off the pill, not sure which ones to get though...

shelbTa · 18/10/2015 20:25

Hi

Haha, runner I like your decision about not stopping drinking! Wise move, I'm guna be doing the same.

Thanks for the advice about the pill. I never put two and two together before.

BREAKING NEWS - DH and I were talking tonight about babies, and I said you know it could take a while for me to get my body normalised again, and he said 'does it?'. So we've agreed I'm guna come off the pill end of October instead of December! Arrrggg!

*end of November not October, doh.

Also meant to put, vitamins - yes am taking the Pregnacare ones I think they are called, from boots

BunchOfBobs · 18/10/2015 20:31

Hi all.

I definitely ovulated on the pill, not always but occasionally.
I get ov pain in my groin the same time I get EWCM But don't jobs if that before or after ovulation.

I saw a baby dust reference earlier today. I guess it's a nice thing wishing people BFPs but I find it cringe for some reason. I think it's along the same lines as baby daddy and baby gravy. Ew!

Glad to hear you're feeling better Runner. Please join me on the decorating route, bathrooms and kitchens are both equally hellish to do and I'm now down to a kettle and microwave for the next two weeks- I could do with a decorating buddy!! I'm taking pregnacare conception vitamins. I read mixed reviews on them regarding them being too big and tasting awful but I have no issues with them at all. Amazon was the cheapest place to get them.

I'm off booze at the mo just as DH thinks my dizzy spells I've had could be due to BFP. I definitely don't think so but would rather be safe. I think I may also go down the drinking during AF route.

Eek Shelb !! One month closer Grin

Anyone a Downton watcher?

shelbTa · 18/10/2015 20:41

Bunch that's exciting! (Potential BFP not dizzy spells)

X

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 18/10/2015 20:52

It would be but I'm not letting myself think anything. I just can't see how I am, I'd only be a week so how can I have any symptoms and I have nothing other than the dizzy spells. I have a history of Labrynthitus (sp?) so I think it's more likely to be that. DH keeps smirking every time I have a dizzy spell though bless him.

Runner05 · 18/10/2015 21:59

Shelb that's really exciting! What's your pill end date now? not jealous at all

bunch woohoo you may be the first of us to poas Grin don't forget to give us plenty of warning so that we can get the popcorn in Wink

I may be decorating more than a bathroom soon as OH and I are hopefully buying our first house together early next year. Woohoo! That means I get to decorate a nursery and my youngest step-troubles room Grin. The eldest step-trouble is coming to live with us and convinced he's going to choose the decor for the whole house Hmm Suddenly hoping for a girl so I'm not quite so outnumbered.

So shelb are you taking pregnecare before coming off the pill? I was thinking of popping into boots this week and picking up some ready totally wasn't planning on picking up some first response as well, just so I have them on hand

shelbTa · 18/10/2015 22:08

Yeah Ive taking them for about a month now - just checked, they are called Pregnacare Conception - same as bunch it seemsSmile

My last pill would be 18 November, hmmm, suddenly actually feeling very nervous! Hmm

Bunch - yeah probs best not to pay attention to us getting over excited to just be relaxed about it all hey, level head.

OP posts:
Runner05 · 19/10/2015 06:58

Right, I shall get myself off to buy some pregnecare on Wednesday. I might not take them until November though.

Exciting news shelb only 5 weeks to go. Totally understandable that you're a bit nervous though. It's a big change but I'm sure you'll be fine.

I think my OH would be happy if it took us a few months to conceive. I've told him that it will probably take my body a couple of months to settle down but he's just looking forward to all the extra bedroom action lol

Lolly90 · 19/10/2015 08:03

Morning everyone
I've missed loads!!
Everyone had a good weekend? Xx

purplesmiler · 19/10/2015 08:45

Morning Ladies

Shelb-great news re stopping your pill. It is both exciting and a bit nervous DTD for the first time without contraception. A couple of weeks in nearly and I am enjoying TTC its great fun hehe.

I take the seven seas trying for a baby vitamins as they contain a few things including folic acid. I started there a couple of weeks before TTC.

Lolly- I had a good weekend thanks, we went to see a house and are putting in an offer this morning. It was lovely and we both felt homely straight away. Not getting too carried away as not willing to pay the asking price (way overpriced for the market) but we will see. I am always a heart rules the head kind of girl with these situations so I am trying to keep a step back if that makes sense.
