TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

shelbTa · 28/09/2015 08:22

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Sorry to hear that Lolly but as Runner says there are lots of treatments so it's not the end of the line.

Tmi alert potentially. Just noticed I have EWCM (1 week earlier than app predicted) and got a bit overexcited. Also gave my DH a guilt free out as he is bouncing between "yes let's do it" and "omg I'm not ready". Despite making the official decision he is still freaking. I've told him he can guilt free use a condom if he's not ready but that if we dtd it has an actual potential of a bfp (told him the 25% stats though). I felt if I didn't tell him I'd be sneaking and lying to him. Bless him he thanked me. So now I have to wait and see how he feels.

I'm a bit giddy with excitement now and have a really important meeting in 2 hours. Must reign it in!!!

The sling is a moss green colour. It's beautiful! Just need a baby to go in it now.

Runner05 · 13/10/2015 09:40

Aww, I'm sure he'll calm down bunch just try to keep baby making excitement to a minimum when you're around him. It seems to make men nervous lol

That sling sounds lovely :-)

BusyBee41 · 13/10/2015 10:27

Hi ladies, can I join in? Got married in April & TTC#1 from late Nov onwards. Came off the pill in July & cycles have been quite erratic (which was to be expected!!) xx

shelbTa · 13/10/2015 11:23

Ah sorry to hear that Lolly. I'm not entirely sure what that means treatment wise but I'm sure I've seen a few threads where it says it hasn't proved a barrier.

Bunch - omg omg omg!!!! I hear what you're saying about OH having a wobble - my DH was all 'yes can't wait for children blah blah blah' but now that the days are slowly counting down to coming off the pill, he is looking slightly more terrified every day!! Grin

Hi busybee - welcome!

Hi Bee the more the merrier Smile

Runner05 · 13/10/2015 12:54

I think that covers about all OHs although mine appears to be in resolved phase at the moment. Possibly because obsessing about getting pregnant is diverting me from obsessing about moving or getting married... Poor bloke puts up with a lot lol.

Lolly90 · 13/10/2015 13:06

Thanks guys trying to keep positive got more tests and scans booked so will find out more then.
Exciting everyone ttc though

StarkyTheDirewolf · 13/10/2015 13:10

Ha-ha runner we joke that my DH asked me to marry him because I'd started enquiring about the possibility of having a baby so he thought it might distract me for a while! it did we got married in May so he's had enough of a grace period without me mithering now!

bunch that's so exciting! We do that, we'll go "right shall we dtd without a condom" agree and then he gets the fear and goes "I'm just going to pop one on!" Grin

Sorry to hear that lolly but on the positive side, at least if you know what the issue is, there can be a resolution and a plan in place to overcome. If that makes sense.

I use the mydays app to chart when I'm on/off/ovulating and use the cheapy sticks from wilkos (3 sticks for a pound)

I want a sling! But I'd end up carrying the dog round in it to practice and my DH would probably leave me citing insanity!

How are we all today?

purplesmiler · 13/10/2015 13:30

Hi everyone,

Work is so crazy busy at the minute I am trying not to get stressed but I can feel it creeping on me which is not great when TTC. My OH is trying so hard to make sure home is relaxed bless him.

I woke up a few times in the night due to a stinking cold, I am trying to keep it at bay with lemsips but I know I need more sleep. Everything seems to come at once.

Lolly- Hopefully now you have more of an idea whats going on you can considor the best way forward and continue your TTC journey.

Runner05 · 13/10/2015 21:43

Love the image of you dancing around with your dog in a sling stark lol

purple hope you feel better soon. Having a cold on top of other stress sucks.

I'm still a bit rubbish after my run in with flu. I just want to laze about eating everything in sight which is not helpful when I'm trying to lose weight Hmm

shelbTa · 13/10/2015 21:54

Hey purple - easier said than done trying not to get stressed about work isn't it. Can you say what you do for a living without revealing too much?

I too have a stressful job and have literally been sat in bed for the past 30 mins wondering how the heck I'm going to do it post-baby. Do you worry about it? Does anyone else in our little gang worry about it? Confused

I'm not working at the moment, I had a very high stress/sales/performance related job and it broke me anxiety issues which is stressful, and which is what most worries me about TTC. I don't claim benefits/sick money because I didn't think I was entitled too. But I've recently found I can. We decided as a couple though that I would be a sahm if/when we have a baby. It's something I've always wanted and I suppose having a break from work has shown us just how tight money could be and how to budget, whereas before, money really wasn't any object.

Hope you're feeling better runner you're appetite coming back is a positive though I think, means you're on the mend. Flowers

How are you doing shelb?

(I'm crocheting a baby cardigan as we speak (as I type?l) so I'm looking forward to sending some out for our TTC babies when they come! Xx

purplesmiler · 14/10/2015 08:24

Morning Ladies,

Still full of cold but fully armed with lemsips and vicks so hopefully a better day.

Shelb- I work for a local authority with children who have complex health and disability needs. I have done it for over 7 years and do enjoy it but as with all jobs it has its challenges. I have given lots of thought to the whole going back to work scenario, its an even harder job to do part time but I am determined to make it work. Hopefully I will be able to job share with someone so that half the week I can be at home, child care costs are so high it wouldn't be worth me going back full time and I don't want to. Are you planning to reduce your hours?

Have a good day.

Runner05 · 14/10/2015 09:38

Ooo your clever Stark my grandmother thought me to knit but the best I've ever managed is a lopsided scarf!

It's hump day!!! (Take that how you will Wink)

shelbTa · 14/10/2015 13:31

Hi,

Thanks purple and stark, and hi everyone else!

Purple - that sounds like an interesting career. It's hard to say what I do without revealing as it's quite niche but it's in the private sector. Honestly? - I would never hire anyone to do this role part time / reduced hours, so I'm unsure as to whether or not the company will agree to reduced hours post-baby.

Ideally I'd like to go back four days a week - at least for the first six months to a year after my return. I guess you can only ask can't you? I hope so, as otherwise I think I'd have to realistically think about a short career break and find something proper part time.....

On a brighter note - I've just bought some max strength pregnancy stretch mark cream! Grin

Well that made me lol.

Ooh what brand did you get shelb my DM always said "start moisturising before you intend to stretch! Eat nuts and fish oils and don't forget to moisturise your hands, neck/décolletage (which I think is a fancy word for xleavage!) Because they're the areas that show your age!

I'll post a pic later of my finished cardigan! I'm quite unreasonably proud of it for a first attempt! My dgm taught me how to crochet/knit when I was small and I couldn't remember how so my DM showed me again a few weeks ago and now I've been finding patterns on YouTube to follow! It's so therapeutic! I love it!

shelbTa · 14/10/2015 17:55

Omg starky that is literally the advice my DM gave me! Almost word for word! It's called dermamum also going to use bio oil - looking online that combo gets good reviews. Looking forward to plastering it on later!!!

Hi all,

Runner that did make me chuckle.

DH is currently pretending we've never discussed children since I told him I am about to ovulate. It's quite funny really. I'll give him this month to freak out, next month he won't be so lucky.

I am self employed so I can decide how I go back to working. The issue is I'm a consultant so I only work when there is work available. So fingers crossed there is work available when I go back to work.
Due to that money can be tight here too, most of the time surviving off DH salary and my salary pays for all luxury items, holidays etc. Therefore I'm planning a thrifty pregnancy/baby. Hence lots of ebaying. On that note.... I may have got a bit carried away bidding on things, and now I have won 2 slings and a set of bibs. I need restraining!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing picks Starky. I love crocheting but never got the hang of clothes. I'm a blanket, scarf, hat crocheter.

Runner05 · 14/10/2015 19:58

Yay! We need picks Stark so that we can all ooo and ahhh over your handy work.

Please continue handing out your DMs pearls of wisdom... My DM is rubbish at it lol

I'm planning to set up a web design business while I'm on maternity. Hopefully it will mean that I can work part time at the very least but who knows.

So who's excited about apprentice tonight? Grin

shelbTa · 15/10/2015 13:33

I watched apprentice!

I love that it's back on!

I'm having a weird day, feeling rather wonky. Started off feeling sick, then light headed, whilst out walking the dog. Came home got a sugary drink to help and as I was walking to the sofa I fell onto said sofa. Now feeling very dizzy and light headed. Yuk!

I hope everyones colds are disappearing. Time for a blanket and a film me thinks. x

bonjourjellybean · 15/10/2015 16:28

Hello, hope you don't mind another newbie joining in! I found mumsnet when prowling the net for support- no-one knows I've taken the plunge to start a family! I got married in August, never thought we would want kids and then my annual broody spell hit before the wedding and we decided to start TTC in December!

To prep my body however I came off Cerelle two weeks ago, and no sign of AF just yet. I've always been worried about my fertility as I've had pelvic inflammatory disease twice and been on contraception for 13 years.. I have no clue what my real cycle is actually like!

Heres to hoping! x

BunchOfBobs · 15/10/2015 16:35

Hi Bonjour,

I was also on contraception for 13 years, my cycle is bouncing about a bit but it's there. FX your cycle settles down to something normal soon and you can track in time for TTC in December.

We're getting a good amount of people together now :-)

Runner05 · 15/10/2015 16:52

Hi bonjour welcome to our little group Flowers

Bunch that sounds terrible, hope you feel better soon.

Well ladies, opinions on apprentice. They appear to have found the usual sulection of business people who think they're the bees knees but who really couldn't find their bottom with both hands!
I actually thought it might be a triple firing yesterday!

purplesmiler · 15/10/2015 17:17

Hi bonjour and welcome. I have been off cerelle for a week and appear to have my AF although I know it may be a withdrawal bleed as some people get them. Felt fine since stopping taking it and have been TTC since then.

Still full of cold but hoping it's heading away now in time for the weekend.

The apprentice is on again tonight I only just realised. I must admit thought the wrong one got fired last night as I didn't like the PM found her over powering.
