TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

shelbTa · 28/09/2015 08:22

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

what the heck is the difference between a push chair, pram, buggy and a stroller anyway and why do travel systems have to be so complicated?

YES! THIS!! so confusing! Ha-ha! Good luck purple. Hope you're feeling better runner and "lolly* Flowers

purplesmiler · 08/10/2015 15:51

Thanks for the positive vibes all! I nipped in mamas & papas for like 5 minutes today the number of different prams I was like woah lol yes I need a prod too to wait hehe x

Lolly90 · 08/10/2015 19:41

Feeling a lot better today and a lot more positive thank you. How you feeling runner? Xx

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 21:05

I is broken :-( think I caught the mild dose of flu the nurse promised my mother when I took her for her jab last week. Not sure that's fair but hey ho!

Glad you're feeling more positive Lolly :-)

Purple I haven't dared look at prays in a shop yet because I know I'd be there for hours playing with them looking at them. I wish there was a magic website that said "right, if this is your budget then this is the one you want" but all they all seem to focus on the £800ish mark and that seems a little crazy to me.

Over thinking!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 08/10/2015 21:18

Glad you've had a brighter day lolly

I'm broken too, some kind of virus, I feel rotten! But I'm settling in to watch last night's bake off, sh was off work last night and had all the silence capability of a toddler who's just learned the word 'why?' So I've saved it! And now I'm watching it in a onesie feeling distinctly sorry for myself! I don't know who wins yet!

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 21:22

Ooo bake off last night was amazing! Excellent ending and the right person definitely won :-)

Do any of you guys watch apprentice? Love to this time of year!

shelbTa · 08/10/2015 21:23

Arrg haven't been getting updates there have been new posts!

Good luck purple! How exciting!

Bunch - exciting week for you too!

God i hadn't even thought about prams!

Ooh runner my DM said that too! I'm at the end of the first bake now! Onwards to the technical!

Watched one of the countdown to life episodes with DH the other day, it was the one about cleft lips and DH had to leave the room, I'm sure he was going off to shed a tear I did he doesn't cope well with things like that, poorly animals and little ones and my DH emotional scale do not compute.

purplesmiler · 08/10/2015 21:35

I watch the apprentice too I always feel it's getting closer to winter when it starts ( I love my cosy nights in straight in pj's after work lol). First dates is on tonight it makes me and OH giggle.

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 21:40

Haven't heard of countdown to life but if it's even remotely sad I'm not watching it. I go all teary when I watch sad stuff and then I get a headache. (Since turning 30 sad stuff seems to include Disney movies and commercials asking for money for this or that charity Hmm

I did watch a couple of episodes of one born though. Stellar idea on my part!

Have you finished the technical yet? Then show stopper is a real nail biter, so close :-D

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 21:43

Purple completely agree. I don't really like winter but the moment apprentice comes on, in my mind, it's nearly Christmas :-)

shelbTa · 08/10/2015 21:46

Runner - no it's not all sad at all. It shows the development of baby right through from tiny cell to the minute you give birth. Yeah the cleft episode was a tearjerker though - but he had such a huge grin once he had it operated on, he was an smiley happy baby!!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 08/10/2015 21:50

shelb it was the bit of him going into the operation smiling, then the actual OP, then after when he was having a little grin! I bawled!

I have to watch one born alone, I cry every time aa baby is born!

Trying to type and I'm being suffocated lovingly by a chihuahua!

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 21:54

Ooo maybe I'll take a look then Shelb. What channel is it?

Stark, ive never had that reaction to babies being born... Mostly I just think "yuck" lol... Except the episode where the baby only lived a couple of days. That was hart breaking :'-(

StarkyTheDirewolf · 08/10/2015 23:56

I never used to either, I just used to cringe amnd cross my legs thinking "oooh that looks painful" now I'm all "oooh the miracle of birth! Weep weep!" Blaming hormones ha-ha! DH won't watch it with me as apparently I just do "Disney eyes" at him! Which I'm assuming is like the pic attached!

TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!
DrWhy · 09/10/2015 04:30

Well I haven't started looking at baby stuff in shops yet but when discussing the possible move back to UK and housing we did end up deciding we'd have to make sure we bought in the catchment for a good school just in case!
We have decided to be sensible and wait until Dec to TTC though as if I were to get pregnant now I'd have no chance of a job in the internal rounds in Feb - in theory they can't discriminate but in reality 20+ weeks would be hard to hide and no-one wants to employ someone for a few months who's then going on leave for up to a year!
I can't persuade DH to watch one born every minute but 2 months after our wedding he's obsessed with don't tell the bride so maybe he'll be watching it through the newborn sleepless nights one day!

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 08:33

Morning ladies, sniffles mcsniffly here Confused how are you all today's?

Stark haha at Disney eyes... I'm probably going to regret saying this but every time I watch it I sit there thinking "that doesn't look as bad as I expected" granted before watching it I though it would look like a massacre scene Hmm
I have noticed that they completely skim over a lot of the gross stuff though and just show the pain before and miracle bit.

Dr sounds like a good plan re the job. like you say, in theory they can't discriminate but that doesn't mean it won't be in their heads when they choose a candidate.
Your partner sounds a little like mine. He already has two sprogs with his ex-wife and he informed me that he wasn't too fussed about the whole baby thing until after they'd been born, then he was excited. Men Wink

So, last night I was looking at prams again(shock horror) and had pretty much decided on a Malibu xl until I looked up customer reviews and saw they were all complaining about them breaking. One woman had the arm of the car seat break while she was carrying her baby in it!!! Cue nightmares all night about prams breaking and throwing my baby to the floor :-( think I'll be avoiding that one!!

purplesmiler · 09/10/2015 08:43

Morning all

Runner I am feeling good thank you as its Friday although in our office that can mean utter chaos but I am currently sitting at my desk enjoying the quiet time with a coffee.

I have a GP appointment after work, I have to be fitted with a blood pressure monitor for 24hrs as it has been quite high recently. Ive always been on the higher end of BP but since I moved back to my home town the Drs are keen to monitor it which is good. I am overweight so I know that doesnt help but I also get white coat syndrome when I know im having my bp taken it seems to make me anxious and increases. This monitor takes my bp every 30 minutes so sleeping tonight may be a challenge. I am aware that if I get pregnant I will probably be monitored even more so which again is good. I have made an effort to change my lifestyle i.e. eat better and regular swimming. I am trying really hard not to let it get me down as I am feeling really positive at the moment.

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 08:52

Good luck at the Dr Purple hope it all goes well. Try not to worry though, after all, if you've changed your diet and started exercising then you're doing everything in your power to control the situation.

I need to lose weight to :-( just don't seem to have the motivation at the moment. I have managed to give up caffein though :-)

Lolly90 · 09/10/2015 12:52

Afternoon everyone. All ok? Sun is shining and it's a better day :). Catching up from convo last night- apprentice is awesome, one born makes me cry every time. Have you seen one called baby days? It's sooo good
Hope you feeling better runner? In trying my hardest not to kill the most annoying person at my work today :) xx

shelbTa · 09/10/2015 13:27

Hi everyone,

I agree with runner - you are doing everything possible to bring it down purple, good luck hope it goes well.

Yeah I'm guna struggle giving up coffee! And wine for that matter....when do you have to give things up....is it when you are actually fertile and ttc?

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 14:33

Starting to feel better now thanks :-) looking forward to a sniffy free day tomorrow!!

Lolly don't do it, being in jail will not help the baby plans!

Shelb I don't think you need to give things up until you're in your fertile window... Or that's what I gather from the just shagging thread. I knew it was going to be a killer to give up caffein though so I decided to do it early and get that one out the way. Wine and cider are going to be the last thing to go... I think my first fertile window will be just after xmas so no new year champagne for me :-(

Do any of you lovely ladies use the Ovia app? I've just started so that I can get into the habit.

shelbTa · 09/10/2015 14:43

Hi runner - yeah I use ovia, it's really good actually. Even though obvs everything is being controlled by the pill at the moment. But I deffo do get a pain (in groin, bizarrely) during the 'fertile' green bit - is that ovulation do you think?

Asked DH if I could come off pill earlier again last night. Got a 'no'! Confused

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 15:17

Hi Shelb could be ovulation, I don't think I've ever felt anything but lots of people describe weird pains and twinges so who knows Confused it is interesting though seeing the ovia predictions line up. I'm considering getting a ovulation kit for my first couple of cycles after the pill. Just to make sure everything's gone back to normal and get a good idea of when I ovulate.

shame you're going to have to wait until December but it's not long now. I'm trying to look at the wait as a last hurrah befor no more booze and at least there'll be lots of Christmas parties coming up to take your mind off it.

When is your last day on the pill?
