TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Our plan is/was to start TTC in December but the work situation is a nightmare at the moment, I'm on a redundancy warning and DH is about to be. We'll find out if either of us have a a new job in the same company in November, but by then we'll be living in different countries until at least Chirstmas. Grr... I'm tempted to suggest I just stop the pill when I finish this pack - chances of me falling pregnant are minuscule but at least then I'd be almost through the pregnancy by the time I was made redundant and the package would be nearly equivalent to my maternity pay. But if the job doesn't come off and we start in late Dec when we are back together it would be nearly impossible to get a new job if I were laid off when I were visibly pregnant (but still months off maternity leave) - the whole blinking process until we both actually know the final outcome could be 8 months! I'm nearly 35 so don't have that much time to play with - but then don't want to rush into TTC if it isn't financially sensible.
This whole TTC decision is so tricky - I guess there is never a perfect time!

Hey can I join?

With any luck we'll be ttc 1 when my pill runs out mid December. I'm way more excited about it than my oh but he has children from previous so been there and done that lol.

I've been on the pill for about 2 years and had been reading in the instructions that once I stop taking it I'd be able to get pregnant straight away but this seems to be different to what you guys are discussing which is a bit confusing.

I'd love to be able to start buying for the baby now as I'm ocd about preparation (reading everything I can, pinteresting like mad) but I think oh would think I'd lost it so waiting until actually pregnant. Wait is driving me crazy though. I'm litterally counting days!

Hi Runner, Dr Why! You sound like you're in the same timeframes as me - coming off the pill / ttc late December, I can't wait either!

Purple - omg you have three days left, so exciting! Nah deffo keep an eye out for potential nursery!

Starky, bunch - you guys could be a bad influence buying stuff! I'm definitely going to get some stretch mark cream though and start whacking that on from now.

I have started looking at some of the other forums, antenatal health.....some of them are quite scary though so trying not to get too freaked out and enjoy the excitement of it all

Lolly90 · 07/10/2015 09:09

Thanks guys xx

Runner05 · 07/10/2015 11:23

Shelf - hi ?? Nice to know I'm not the only one that can't wait to start. I just downloaded The ovia app yesterday. I know there's no real point tracking yet but it makes me feel like I'm doing something. December seems like such a long way away!

Lolly - sorry about the bad news ??

Runner05 · 07/10/2015 11:24

That was supposed to say Shelb not shelf ??

Lolly90 · 07/10/2015 12:07

Hi runner, been off the pill since December with no af. So started ttc anyway. But had some tests done at doctors and looks like there more problems than I even thought about so got to have more done next week. :( definitely not a good day today. Ate way to much cake and ice cream last night lol xx

Runner05 · 07/10/2015 12:25

It's horrible that the tests didn't give you good news but try and look on the bright side. The Dr's are now working to figure out what's wrong and once they have they will be able to come up with a way forward for you.

Don't panic yet, let the Dr's do their thing xxx

Lolly90 · 07/10/2015 13:51

Hi runner
Thank you
Trying not to panic but it's hard when it's all I can think about. Trying to keep myself busy at work too. xx

purplesmiler · 07/10/2015 16:13

Lolly- sorry to hear about your results I'm sure the Dr's will focus on supporting your TTC journey. I can imagine it is all that's on your mind. Take care hun x

Morwenna1 · 07/10/2015 21:34

Sorry to hear about your results Lolly Flowers Like Runner said, put your faith in the doc's, I'm sure they will come up with solutions for you.

DrWhy · 08/10/2015 00:56

Sorry to hear that Lolly, hopefully once the Dr has more information they'll be able to come up with a way forward to help. Good that investigation is underway rather than just wondering every month why it's not happening.
Oh, and if that's not a good reason for cake and ice cream I don't know what is!

Lolly90 · 08/10/2015 07:20

Thanks guys. Got another appt next week. So see what happens xx

purplesmiler · 08/10/2015 08:10

Well that's it finished my pill packet last night, hopefully my cycle won't be too unsettled but will wait and see. Excited for our journey TTC starting.

Lolly90 · 08/10/2015 09:21

Yay! Purple that's exciting good luck on your journey ttc xx

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 09:36

Woohoo purple! I fully expect you to be the first BFP of the thread Grin

Well, I have a stinking cold and am curled up in bed feeling sorry for myself and making myself crazy looking at baby stuff. So far I've chosen a ridiculously expensive pram that I have no idea how I'm going to convince my oh we need... What the heck is the difference between a push chair, pram, buggy and a stroller anyway and why do travel systems have to be so complicated?

Lolly90 · 08/10/2015 09:42

Ahh there's so many different ones surely they all do the same lol. Hope you feel better soon runner xx ??

BunchOfBobs · 08/10/2015 11:00

Eek so exciting Purple!! My DH has just got back from a conference and apparently has been asking all his colleagues "when do you know you're ready for children". I'm not saying anything (so I don't put him off) but fingers crossed he's ready to TTC this month. Which starts this week eek!!
Fingers crossed you get answers at your next appointment Lolly.
I know exactly what you mean Runner. I've since decided to babywear to begin with so I no longer need to search for prams etc. car seats and all the other paraphernalia though is completely throwing me!! There are too many brands of everything, where do you start? ...... I guess a BFP would be a good place to start!

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 11:54

Good luck Bunch.

I've come to the conclusion that I need one of those transport system thingies that do everything. Just because it's too much of a faff to go getting different stuff and I figure I can sell bits as they're no longer needed. I'm going to have to get something a bit swanky though as oh is a bit of a snob lol (lufs him)

Could someone please hit me with a big stick and tell me there's no point choosing out baby stuff... At least until we're officially trying!!!!!

BunchOfBobs · 08/10/2015 12:04

Thanks Runner. I certianly can't be one hitting you with a big stick as I am doing my best to pick out everything too as is Starky Wink

Runner05 · 08/10/2015 12:13

D'oh!

We need an official stick person lol
