TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Sorry Bunch that's poo. Hopefully AF will drive today and leave very quickly afterwards so you can move on to the next.

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 08:52

Thanks Shelb and pink. Problem is I've just done my maths and that's pretty much it until February now. As I've said previously I have just got a contract to work away from next week. That means I'm away for fertile window this month and supposed to be away in December when fertile window is predicted. I'm on holiday with a friend during predicted Januarys fertile window so that takes me to Feb. Big bums Sad

It could all change with the nature of my work and my app could be wrong so we'll see but I'm now preparing myself for this which is worst case scenario.

shelbTa · 06/11/2015 08:57

Ah bunch. God when you put it like that it does make you think about the timings of it all doesn't it.

Maybe you could DTD before you go away and hope the swimmers stay alive as long as they are meant to that is hopeless advice but didn't know what else to put

Haha Shelb. I can only hope AF has gone before I leave but I doubt it. As I'm supposed to go Tuesday/Wednesday and she usually stays for 5/6 days.

Just gotta suck it up. It makes it seem so much more understandable why it can take a year to get pregnant and how fast that will go.

Ni4444 · 06/11/2015 09:04

Aw bunch that sucks. I realised that we'll probably miss December fertility window too as we'll spend Xmas with our families. It is a frustrating delay. But as we know cycles are unpredictable so we can't guarantee any of that either. Just take it as it comes. (Or, can OH visit you for a dirty weekend while you're away?!)

AF has arrived today for me! Tonight I will be drinking wine and eating all sorts of naughty things!

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 09:07

Haha ni if only that were the case. Me being away involves me being in the middle of the North Sea. He can't visit Sad
Ooo enjoy all the amazing goodies and drink you're now allowed. FX for next month.

Ni4444 · 06/11/2015 09:15

Aw! It's crazy but I'm wondering if it's possible to post a container of sperm!!

Thanks to whoever suggested the app Ovie. I had been using one called "my calendar" which is good for noting symptoms but not good with predictions like Ovie is so I think I'll switch over!

KatOnATinRo0f · 06/11/2015 09:36

Hi everyone... Can I join??
Just read most of the posts and would like to join the quest!

DH and I married in August, I'm 28, he's 38. Came off the pill the day after the wedding and have had 2 pretty regular cycles since. Currently CD10. Excited to see what happens!

BergamotMouse · 06/11/2015 11:01

Hi Kat. Welcome to the group. Congrats on the wedding. Is this your first month of TTC or have you been trying since the wedding? Very exciting either way! I'm on CD16 so not far from where you are. Not too hopeful for this month but currently say (like a mad woman) with a hot water bottle on my stomach to try to create a nice warm environment for implantation.

BergamotMouse · 06/11/2015 11:03

And sorry to hear about the negative bunch but glad you're taking it well - I hope I manage to be as sensible. Hope all your dates work out so you manage to DTD during your fertile window.

KatOnATinRo0f · 06/11/2015 11:30

Hi,
Well I we haven't been taking any other precautions. My dr said that I could/should start ovulating right away and there was no need to wait or use condoms for a few months like I've seen written about online.
Kat

Ni4444 · 06/11/2015 11:43

Welcome Kat! Have you had any problems coming off the pill? Hormone headaches killed me in my first month. I'm hoping month two will be better! I'm thinking I might use it as an excuse to go try some acupuncture!! ??

StarkyTheDirewolf · 06/11/2015 11:46

Aww bunch that sucks balls! Also on the being away, they do supposedly live for up to 5 days inside us after being put there though, so that's a positive!

Hiya kat welcome!

Is ovie app good then? Might have to have a look! Anyone have a good/bad fireworks night? My dogs don't mind so much but they do get a but more clingy, and I won't let them out! My garden is littered with spent fireworks!

KatOnATinRo0f · 06/11/2015 12:42

No, I don't think i've had any problems. I get headaches anyway and I havent noticed anything worse since being off the pill. period cramps came back though, which was the main reason I went on the pill all that time ago!

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 14:18

Welcome Kat

Well AF has truly arrived snap Nix Feeling stupidly down about it so headed to the supermarket for chocolate, pate and Brie.

FX my cycle changed so I'm around enough to get those swimmers in place before Feb.

Runner05 · 06/11/2015 15:22

Aww Ni, Bunch I was really hoping that you'd both caught this month.

Bunch I really hope your cycle does change so that you're around at the right time but if not just shag as much as you can before and hope that your OH has super sperm!

Hi Kat welcome to the thread Grin

Stark I think Ovia is really good. It calculates your fertile period based on the dates you enter and then re-calibrates based on the information you feed it. You enter your moods, symptoms, CM, ovulation tests & Basal body temp (if you do them) whether you've had sex and a couple of other less important things. It gives you a daily fertility score out of 10 and has brings up a couple of interesting articles in the feed. It's all very polished and works really well.

I caved and bought a crochet hook and some soft wool to play with Smile

Day 1 of tww tomorrow and I'm already twitchy. I think I might need you ladies to give me a daily, there's no point testing reminder!

Pinklily1 · 06/11/2015 16:39

Afternoon ladies and welcome Kat

Sorry to hear AF has arrived bunch.

Another vote for Ovia here. I didn't bond with it at first but am much more into it now. When we start actively TTC I think it will be really helpful to help figure out when I am ovulating.

LisaTheGreek · 06/11/2015 16:59

Hi everyone, can I join too? (first ever post on MN!)

I jumped at this thread because of the title, as me and OH are planning to start trying in Dec/Jan too. I've read all the way through, and you all seem like such lovely people. I really wanted to join in.

For the stats: I'm 29 and he's 31, I got my implant removed in October (before that I had implants for about 8 years, so wanted to give my body time to get back to 'normal'). I think I also fall into the category of a crazy, planning TTC woman - good to have somewhere to let that all out...!

Morwenna1 · 06/11/2015 17:04

Anyone use Clue? I do, and I must say it's been pretty good so far! Sounds similar to Ovie, you input details and then it updates to make it more accurate.

Sorry Ni and Bunch - I was catching up on all the messages wondering if there would be any signs of a BFP!!

Runner - Sorry to hear about your mum Flowers

Hello Kat - welcome! and congrats on the wedding Smile

I love the names Stark (we will be looking at Welsh ones!)

I am day 26 and my cycle average is 27....getting the occasional cramp so I think the Witch is about to land Sad I'm holding off testing until I'm late as I know what I'm like; I'll get disappointed!

And Pink YANBU about jealousy, a friend has all but announced her 2nd and I was so green eyed!! Never had that before when friends have announced, but now we're actively trying, I think my emotions are going to take over a bit more!! Doesn't help when you keep seeing cute babies everywhere.

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 17:05

Ladies. Just so you know, I'm going to be okay Wink

Bought myself some well needed comforts- a nice cozy blanket to snuggle under and all necessary equipment to get me through this week. Sometimes the witch isn't evil.

I may switch to ovia as fertility friend is doing my nut in at the mo.

TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!
Morwenna1 · 06/11/2015 17:06

And Bunch - I've heard the swimmers can last up to 5 days inside as well! Keep going!! Grin

Morwenna1 · 06/11/2015 17:07

I'll have the Gu thanks! I do like my cheese and pate as well ....

Morwenna1 · 06/11/2015 17:18

Sorry Runner - just read that you don't like flowers...tea it is Brew

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 17:23

welcome Lisa

Morwenna it's mine.... Aaaaalllll mine! Hoping the witch to have buggered off before I leave then can get some swimmers in position hopefully.

I hate how down I got about this AF,
But my stash of goodies is helping cheer me up. Headed for a hot bath now as the cramps are settling in and boy do I hate them. Then I have an evening of yummy ahead of me.
