TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

The Dr has signed me off for two weeks and booked me in for counselling... Unfortunately my sick note runs out the day before my mums potentially dangerous biopsy and my counselling doesn't start until 01/12 so I may be going back for a renewal as I can't imagine my stress levels will have got any better still feeling very releaved to be getting a break and fingers crossed I'll be going back to work in the knowledge that I'm upduffed

Anyone got any nice plans for this weekend?

Oh runner, thoughts are with you. They should still consider you for the other job you have applied for though. It sounds like your boss is quite sympathetic to the difficult situation.

Evelyn is our favourite baby girl name. I know it's become more popular but that doesn't put me off too much. I also like Delilah but OH can't get past the Tom Jones song and I'm not sure I'd actually go for it when the time comes. My other favourite is Ottillie (Tilly for short), but OH not keen.

Ah runner I feel for you, I was there last year with my mum . But something to look forward to with the right timing of the DTD?

I've just found out a friend is expecting baby number 2. That's three new pregnancy announcements in the last month. Is it wrong that I am jealous? Obviously happy for them but my first reaction this time was trying not to cry, makes me feel like an awful person

You're not on your own pink I found out someone I know who I don't like, to add insult to injury was pregnant last week and I was virtually green, i couldn't think straight I was so jealous! It was hideous feeling like that!

pink I had two announcements from people very close to me in the last month. To be honest, the last two years or so I've felt jealous. This time I actually felt "oh my goodness we could be on maternity together!" Actually knowing I'm on the path ttc makes me feel like that will be me soon! It will be you too pink!! But I totally understand feeling upset and jealous. Been there and done that plenty!!

Oh by the way ladies worst coming off the pill symptom so far happened today. After a week of no hormone headaches and no abdominal cramps this afternoon I got blurred vision and then what I think was my first ever migraine. Don't get me wrong it wasn't like a friend's migraines where she has to lie in a darkened room, but the blurred vision was rather odd! On the plus side it meant I didn't stay late at work doing paperwork, I came home and snuggled on the couch with my cat (who is freaked out by the fireworks). I also got to take aspirin as the poas was neg yesterday!

Day 31 and still waiting...

Hi ni - yeah I get well bad hormonal migraines too so can sympathise with you, Christ knows what they are going to like off the pill!

pink, stark I know what you mean about jealousy. Luckily no one I know has announced but I'm sure if they did I'd struggle. Just rember that it'll be you making other women jealous soon

So excited about the prospect of being updiffed. I'm sure the tww will be awful. I'm going to do an early test on 20th before I go away, probably not a good idea as I'm not due until 23rd but if it's BFN I'm going to assume I'm not and have a couple of drinks while I'm in Bath.

Sorry to hear of the negative Ni.

I try to hold onto the thought that it will be us soon, but I think the bit I struggle with most is that most friends are having baby number 2, and until we TTC baby number one, we don't really have any idea how quickly it will happen. I suppose I'm just worried that when we do start it won't happen for ages, when it seems like all our friends just have to look at their OH's and get pregnant!

Last day of seven day pill break today. Supposed to restart tomorrow. Wanted to start ttc on 21st of December, as away for the two weekends before that and didn't want to be worrying about period etc. Now I'm sat here thinking - what if I didn't take that tiny pill tomorrow night......

Sorry about the negative Ni still it's early days and if the witch hasn't arrived there's still a chance.

It is hard to stay positive but the best thing you can do to help yourself conceive is relax.

Omg I think I've actually got ovulation pains! never noticed them before but then I wasn't looking. Alternatively, maybe the all you can eat Chinese buffett was a bad idea

Secret perhaps you could suggest you don't take it to see if your cycle returns to normal... I suggest you point out that without the pill you will have a higher sex drive, that usually gets their attention

Haha yes the "I'm coming off the pill for X, Y, Z not related to babies reason. You do what you like about contraception" seems to work surprisingly well! Guys can be terribly lazy at taking responsibility!!

Secret - we were due to start literally around that time but coming off a month early - last pill next Friday, do it do it do it!!

Runner - what do the pains feel like? Where are they?

Shelb it's like someone has / is giving me a hard poke, it's quite low down probably about the level of my hip bone and to my right. I'm probably imagining things because it would be ideal if I ovulated today.

I was actually having a mental discussion in my head earlier which went something along the line of "come on little spermies, find that egg, you can do it..." I'm expecting the men in white coats to arrive any minute now

Right, did a little Xmas shopping on amazon....and stuck in some cheapo wee sticks, and shelled out for the clearblue digital ovulation test as the reviews were so good! I am ready for month 2!!

Runner 3 days early is not much just make sure enough get reliable tests. Ahem unlike me

Ni I nearly bought an ovulation test when I was walking through town earlier but I thought Sod's law I'd get pregnant this month so it would be a waste of money... Hang on, on second thoughts maybe I should buy one and tempt fate

Bunch I have a selection of about 5 different types of test ready and waiting. If there's even a remote chance I'm pregnant I shall pee on all of them!

My OH likes traditional names but nothing old fashioned I like flower names, Rose and Poppy being my favourites but OH isn't keen. We've got one name we agree on but not sure we'll go with it.

Next time I'm near a wilkos I'm getting some ovulation tests, I've decided!

I was having a magic moment earlier and DH says "oh you look so far away babe. What are you thinking about?" And I just went..."sperm" his gave was a picture! I was as well, because I was wondering if each sperm is different, or are they all the same per...go...? Or are all the eggs different? Or are they all the same genetic wotsit and then it's just the developing part in the womb which makes each baby different... I tried explaining but he just looked confused and a little bit concerned.

I LOVE Delilah, its such an epic name, my Dsis suggested 'Xanthippe' but then quickly bagsied it, as it means something to do with horses, and she is a horsey type!

It was an Evap line after all. BFN with Superdrugs own. CD35 and counting.

Im very happy to say I have no disappointment just a feeling of "Oh well". AF will or won't be along soon and if not I'll test again on Sunday.

Didn't sleep much last night. Kept waking up and feeling restless but now I'm shattered! Oh well, at least I don't have to go to work. Massive cathartic deep clean of the flat will be happening today in preparation for the troubles appearing and making it messy again

DH is still asleep next to me so I'm waiting to tell him the news. I can feel AF is going to make an appearance today. Damn that witch!
