In an attempt to stop SS, what do you all do?

I work in recruitment for a brilliant company with amazing people and I love it most of the time! I only do 24 hours a week which is 4 mornings and 1 full day which is great because it means I get to spend time with DC1.

My last time TTC got me involved with a lovely bunch of ladies and we are still in contact, so forgive me if this seems a little forward!!

Vikkijayne2507 · 23/09/2015 15:07

ChatEnOeuf · 23/09/2015 18:08

Lemons I'm a doc. Not working right now as I'm supposed to be on a career break, but I am doing a research project. Looking to return in Dec and then promptly go on mat leave.

lemonslemonslemons · 23/09/2015 18:47

Ha ha! I love a bit of maternity leave. Are you you a GP? I feel sorry for a friend of mine who's a GP. Whenever we go to dinner parties she is always cornered by someone with an ailment!

lemonslemonslemons · 23/09/2015 18:48

Sorry to hear that Jelly. I hope your story improves :)

pulpi · 23/09/2015 19:59

pulpi - sorry to see the witch got you. Fx that October is your month!

lemons I'm a stay at home mum. Dh works away from home so I am the constant in the kids' lives, and available to them 24/7. At the moment he works abroad for 3 months at a time. I'm also a face painter Smile

I'm going to go kick some husband butt though - I can hear him snoring away upstairs after taking ds2 to bed! Not tonight pal, you have a job to do Grin

lemonslemonslemons · 23/09/2015 20:33

Ha ha weechops! Mount that man! What does your DH do? Please can you paint my face? I've never had my face painted :(

lemonslemonslemons · 23/09/2015 20:36

Sorry pulpi :(

Ha ha chat

simplydivine05 · 23/09/2015 21:31

Evening all. According to my app I am due to ovulate tomorrow or Friday. Yesterday and today I've had what I assume to be ov pains. Really sharp pains on my left, sometimes so painful my legs buckle. I've been hit by fatigue today too. Looking at my chart this happened on the same day last cycle too but less painful. I'm now worried that I have something sinister going on like pcos. When I was pregnant with ds they told me I had cysts that they wanted to keep an eye on but they never did and I thought nothing of it, until now.

Thisisbonkers · 23/09/2015 22:00

I was meant to be on maternity leave by now! I wanted Christmas off work Grin

Rose2806 · 23/09/2015 22:31

I'm a vet, doing it part time at the moment as I'm also studying and helping my husband out with his company.

Vikkijayne2507 · 23/09/2015 23:18

Im a trained social worker but no longer practice since leaving the UK when i was 6 months pregnant with ds. Was way too stressful in child protection. I now live in portugal (oh and now my son are portuguese ) and teach english which is soo much nicer and warmer too.

lemonslemonslemons · 24/09/2015 09:57

Simply can you go to your Dr and get it checked out? Maybe tell them you are TTC and then they can keep an eye on things?

Bonkers Christmas off work would be lush. Hopefully you can be on Mat Leave next year!

Rose I always wanted to be a vet. I did my work experience at a vet surgery and loved it. Unfortunately circumstances meant that I wasn’t able to. It is a real regret. I don’t know if I’ve missed the boat now?

Vikki that sounds amazing. The weather here is crap so I envy you!!

simplydivine05 · 24/09/2015 10:18

Lemon - I was considering that yesterday. I've avoided booking the appointment as seeing an actual doctor at my surgery is impossible. I always end up with the nurse practioner and last time I saw her I asked about ttc and my current meds and she just shrugged and said just take folic acid and there was no other advice she could give me! She didn't even mention my bmi of 33.
I have hypermobility syndrome and until ttc always took painkillers and I'm thinking that the daily does of ibuprofen have been masking things. I caved this morning and took a cocodamol because I'm in so much pain with my back and hips. That's all hypermobility related due to the progesterone increase. I just want to get pregnant, have a baby and go back on the pill to control my hormones! I'm so wary if taking anything other than paracetamol but it does nothing for me. I've avoided ibuprofen like the plague this cycle whereas last cycle I took it until 4dpo and then I discovered it can hinder implantation. I figured codeine should be ok in small and scarce doses. They gave me cocodamol in labour so it can't be that bad! I'm going to see if I am upduffed this cycle and if not it's time for a trip to the docs.

Rose2806 · 24/09/2015 10:19

Simply I'd agree with Lemons - definitely check with your doctor, chances are everything is fine though, I think we all notice things a lot more when we are looking for them!

Lemons it's never too late if you really want to do something, one of my friends is in his thirties and just started 5 years of med school! There were people on my course at all stages of life. I love it most of the time, it can be pretty stressful though as well with very long hours, I did night shifts solidly for a year but wanted to stop that before TTC.

Sorry to bring the conversation back to TTC- do you guys find that using ovulation kits puts more pressure on or actually relaxes you a bit? I decided not to use them for the first month because I thought they could make it more stressful, but actually I'm finding not knowing if I've ovulated is making me obsess and worry about it more! Just got the Ovia app and apparently today is my best chance but not seen any CM at all, so now worrying I'm not ovulating at all this month lol.

Rose2806 · 24/09/2015 10:24

Sorry Simply hadn't seen your reply- keep bugging them until they give you an appointment with an actual doctor!

Thanks Rose. RE opks, I don't use them, however like you, I am starting to think using them might be a good idea. Same as temping. I really want to not obsess but I am anyway so if I'm out this month then I think I'm going to try them to see if I ovulate when I think I do.

Hi Lily!
