Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill

Just wondering if there are any other lurkers in the same boat as me, planning to TTC in December/January?

I came off the pill three months ago and have only had one pathetic AF in that time, so very glad I came off early but also pretty anxious at how messed up things are, 1st cycle was 39 days, this one is 40 and courting.

So who's with me? I can't be the only person on here who is actually hoping for AF!

Thank you first for explaining!

Bugmuncher · 05/01/2016 13:17

cookie you have given me hope today l. I'm using the same OPK as you and so far have only had an empty circle! Two months of testing and not had a positive OPK yet Sad

tinyemmy · 05/01/2016 14:14

Gx hello! Fingers crossed all is good at the scan, its a very exciting time, looking forward to seeing piccies! I did another OPK yesterday and it is still very negative but I have hope! I'm currently on CD21 of unknown number probably longer than 39 days but hopefully shorter than 100! On a 39 day cycle I am in theory fertile from tomorrow for a few days so I might try some more OPKs :) x

shankate182 · 05/01/2016 14:15

GX91
I don't understand these OKS lol

NewGirl2015 · 05/01/2016 16:36

Flamingo Glad to hear that AF has made an appearance, fingers crossed for a shorter cycle this time.

First fx for a shorter cycle for you too.

Cookie, Chapman good luck for you TWW's!! Fingers crossed for you. When will you be due to test?

Tiny welcome! Definitely sounds like EWCM so sounds like things are starting to regulate for you, I was on cerazette and I got my period back after 35 days which I think is pretty good so good luck to you. You may even have been lucky and caught it!!

GX how long till your scan?

Cd10 for me and nothing interesting happening, other than I have a bout of thrush which is very annoying, haven't had it for ages so hoping it clears up quickly before I get my peak, don't want to have to miss it for that.
In other news I've been doing a bit of reading on sperm friendly lubes (after not liking preseed - dries up & goes sticky yuck!) and found a medical study that looked at mineral oil and olive oil and found that baby oil had no effect on sperm (Same as preseed) so will be trying that this time around. What does everyone else use of are you lucky enough not to need it?

xx

Yvonne1986 · 05/01/2016 17:18

Hi everyone!

Good luck tomorrow GX such an exciting time for you!

I'm now on CD 40 so don't really know what's happening but keeping FX for a BFP anyway! Its only my second cycle since coming off the pill in Sept first was CD 64.

Hope you get a BFP OPT soon Tiny

Xx

Loulabelle1990 · 05/01/2016 17:36

Hey everyone!

I came off cerazette 4 weeks ago on Sunday. Still no bleeding whatsoever. Although I know this is tmi but I have just started to have more cm in the last few days!

Just wondered, how would I know how long my cycle is and when I am more likely to ovulate with no period? I have opk sticks but don't want to waste them silly nilly! xxx

shankate182 · 05/01/2016 18:23

Loulabelle1990
I've come off cerezze 4 weeks ago Thursday since then I've had my withdrawal bleed which came on a day after I stopped it lasted 4/5 Days I had nothing for 3 days after that them had brown discharge spotting on and off since then, until last week I properly got my monthly period which only finished yday :) I'm gona TTC as much as I can and hope to God I don't have anymore spotting only thing I wanna see is implantation bleeding :P
I don't understand why u haven't got anything a few people on it SAY it takes months to go back to normal hopefully u get normal cycles soon

Loulabelle1990 · 05/01/2016 18:42

Hi @shankate182, thanks for your response. So glad you are getting your cycles back to normal. I have heard of a few peoples cycles taking months too, but do you think there is a possibility I could ovulate during that period?

I haven't had a withdrawal bleed or anything. Saying that I didn't bleed at all whilst I was on the pill, but was only on it for 7 months. I am getting quite frustrated now!

shankate182 · 05/01/2016 18:53

No I don't think you can ovulate before getting a period as my doctor told me to wait until I had my first proper period b4 TTC as your period is your unfertilized egg so if you have no period no egg there if you don't get anything in the next 2 weeks go to the doctors and get Angus cactus it's stuff ya take to help ur cycles go back to normal

Sunnydays321 · 05/01/2016 19:24

Cookie, good to see you got your positive opk!! Exciting time, hope you caught the eggy!

Welcome tiny. No such thing as tmi here! I got a big blob of mucus about a month before I actually ovulated the 1st cycle off the pill. My 1st cycle was nearly 100 days. Think it was my body coming back to life.

Hi loula. Hope your cycles settle quickly. I think 1st cycle the best chance you have is just dtd regularly, it will be hard to use opks as ov might be a while and like you say it's a bit of a waste. I tested with a cheap pregnancy test about every 30 days just in case.

Yvonne, hopefully you get a bfp this month, or that if af does come that it doesn't wait too long so you can get your cycles back on track.

Hi gx. How are you? When is your scan?

I'm good thanks. I have been reading, just not posted as uv been trying not to obsess too much (not working) cos I had 4 Evap lines in a row last week. Ff originally put my ov earlier so thought I was 9dpo but wasn't really. They were definitely Evaps as there was no line in the time frame, and I dug then out the bin and they were pretty strong lines with colour but I'm definitely not pregnant! Bloody Evaps. I'm actually 9dpo today. Got my positive opks 25th 26th. Only managed to dtd once in fertile window tho due to Xmas and working etc (lame excuse) we had lots of useless timed sex this month as had no idea when I was going to ov. Would be so much easier with regular cycles. Temps dropped yesterday, was hoping it was implantation dip but it was even lower today so I'm out. Just waiting for AF which I think will arrive tomorrow. Hoping for a shorter cycle this time. Having pcos bloods done next week. Xx

Loulabelle1990 · 05/01/2016 19:37

Great thanks shankate and sunny. It's so frustrating. Tempted to just book a doctors appointment now. I'm so impatient lol.

Hope everything works out okay! Really regretting taking the pill now X

Sunnydays321 · 05/01/2016 19:50

Its so rubbish isn't it loula. I have to be honest though, last time I stopped my pill it took me 10 months (that's 40 weeks!! 300 days!!) to have a period! The GP said they wouldn't do anything until it had been a year! It's called post pill amenorrhea, there's lots of info on Google... It's really really crappy but can be normal. Iv managed to convince my GP to do pcos bloods next week because Iv only had 2 periods in 6 months since stopping pill, and cos I have a few other symptoms, but she said even if I do have it they still won't do anything till we have been trying a year. But for most people it really does settle quicker that that! Fingers crossed for you xx

Yvonne1986 · 05/01/2016 20:10

My GP hasn't been the most supportive I waited all afternoon for a call to discuss as I didn't want to take an appointment if it wasn't really needed and he didn't even call me back! I think they just expect you to wait longer it's so frustrating tho isn't it x

Sunnydays321 · 05/01/2016 20:19

It is frustrating but there really isn't much they can do. It is usually just a case of wait it out. Most people's cycles will have settled by 1 year post pill and 85% will be pregnant within a year. And 92% will be pregnant within two years. I know it's frustrating to wait, but those statistics are reassuring. And actually I wouldn't want treatment etc unless really necessary, therefore gp not actually going to do anything. That's how I rationalise it to myself anyway. Xx

Yvonne1986 · 05/01/2016 21:09

Yeah I definitely wouldn't want treatment that wasn't needed it would be nice to speak to the GP tho for reassurance as to when to seek help I'll just have to go off Mumsnet advise instead Wink so nice to have people in a similar situation to talk too x

Sunnydays321 · 06/01/2016 06:02

Well AF arrived with a vengeance in the night, been up since 2am with some of the worst period pain of my life (I remember this from my pre-pill days, how did poor 14year old me cope?!). Paracetamol and ibruprofen haven't touched it, hot water bottle not helping. Writhing round the bed keeping DH up. All fun and games.. God help me if I do ever have a baby, not looking forward to labour! lol.

So this cycle 35 days (previous two 97, 42, so getting shorter) but I OVd on day 26 so luteal phase only 9 days, which is really short.. Makes getting pregnant very tricky cos uterine lining shreds before implantation occurs. It was only 9.5-10 days last month. Something else to worry about!

Loulabelle1990 · 06/01/2016 07:43

Yeah it really is so frustrating. We aren't desperate for a baby, I think to take the pressure off a bit we are just going to see how it goes/see what happens. If I wait a year then I wait a year! (Obviously would rather not though!). I think the more I relax about it the more chance I have of it coming back Blush.

Glad your AF has finally arrived! Although not good re how much pain you are in. Hopefully it won't last long Thanks xx

tinyemmy · 06/01/2016 11:37

NewGirl - thank you! I think catching it first time might be a bit extra lucky, I'd be very happy with a 35 day cycle - keeping fingers crossed. I don't use lube so can't help there. Fingers crossed the trush clears up soon!

Yvonne - thank you too! My first cycle last time I came off the pill was 100 days, then 39 and then I got pregnant (on something like a 60 day cycle) so fingers crossed for BFP even with long cycles!

Loulabelle - I think this is normal, I have definitely notice more CM - cerazette makes changes to it so I think any improvement down there is very good news :) I bought 50 off the internet so have been using them willy nilly, all are negative though. I'd wait until you get EWCM/watery before testing if you don't want to waste them

Shankate - it sounds like you're AF has returned nicely!

Sunnydays - thanks for the info, very useful - last time I camme off it was 100 days before any bleed so I'm expecting the same this time. Will try and watch out for other signs of ovulation in the meantime! Fingers crossed for a short cycle next time!

I thought the dr could prescribe something to force periods? I didn't get it last time as I was actually pregnant when I went back to see him after 6 months of being off the pill but this time I'm over 35 so things are a little different.

Loulabelle1990 · 06/01/2016 13:33

I have noticed today actually it is more like EW and watery. Might DTD tonight and then do a OPK in the morning. I have the CB one which is why I don't want to waste them. Hopefully this is also a sign of things going back to normal as safer stopping cerazette I had nothing at all until recently.

Can I ask a daft question - how do you count your cycle with no AF? Is it just from the date you stopped the pill? If so, I am at day 31!

tinyemmy · 06/01/2016 13:56

LoulaBelle - that's what I've been doing, I'm on CD22 post pill. Good luck!

Loulabelle1990 · 06/01/2016 14:38

Good luck to you too tiny Grin. Hopefully we aren't waiting too long!

Gx91 · 06/01/2016 20:58

Hey all hope uv had a good day ! Scan went well today alls fine baby was very lively !

Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill
Cookie22 · 06/01/2016 20:59

Hi everyone, I've been absent for a few days. Back to work blues have taken over! Sorry to hear about AF Sunny, although it's good that your cycles are shortening. I worry about my luteal phase too as last month I got my peak OPK then AF 8 days later. Really hope it doesn't happen again this month. I'm on cd 25, 2dpo. Feeling like I may have cystitis again (same as last month!). It's annoying as I know I'm doing all the correct things hygiene wise after dtd to avoid this.

Hope everyone is well! GX let us know how you get on at your scan. Exciting times for you!! Chapman, how is your tww going? Any symptoms? Xx

Cookie22 · 06/01/2016 21:01

Aw wow GX, your scan is beautiful! You can see your wee cherub so clearly. Must make it feel even more really! So happy it all went well xx
