Peardrop - age 33, TTC cycle #9, DS is 26 months (stopped bf soon to be 4 months ago). Af returned when DS 14months, currently on CD14 and have had 4 flashing smileys. Praying for a static smiley tomorrow! Dangling legs in air!

Hello all! Following/lurking for advice and tips.

I'm 27, DD is 12 months and we're not yet TTC but we will be before the year is out. Not even a whiff of AF yet, still BF on demand all day and co-sleeping. Am slowly trying to offer more water and food in the daytime but she has at least five day time boob sessions still.

If she carries on being such a boob fiend I'm concerned that my cycles may not return for ages - when did yours come back and did you have to actively scale back BF?

LaceyLee · 21/04/2016 18:53

Hi TheOracle my af came back after exactly a year but then had a really long cycle and not sure it would've come back again if I hadn't pretty much night weaned. Got dd in to her cot and stopped offering the boob as I think it was making her wake more often. I feed her if she wakes after 4 ish though, which she normally does. I'm sure yours will come back in the next few months.

expatvet did you have any luck? Fingers crossed for you.

I think I ov'd early this time and dtd around the right time so may be testing in a week or so Smile

expatvet · 10/05/2016 18:50

No luck last month :-( af reared her ugly head earlier than expected (still haven't had a regular length cycle since they returned)

Used opks for a week when I though I should have ovulated this month and nothing...we did a bit of 'practice' but I'm not holding out much hope this month.

Operation night weaning has now commenced however and I really really hope this will help my cycles regulate....fingers crossed!

Hi oracle my cycles returned when he was 19 month and are still not regular (almost 2 now). But he's been feeding pretty much on demand so hope that night weaning will help. Fingers crossed for you xx

jpclarke · 10/05/2016 22:52

Hi ladies,
Could I join ye? I am still breastfeeding my 17 month old. My periods returned when he was 9 months just as I returned to work. But they weren't regular really until he was around 12 months. I only feed going to bed, during the night sometimes and when he wakes. This pattern has been going on a while and I can't see him dropping any feeds anytime soon. I don't want an upset ds so I am not going to try to wean him either I am going to wait until he is ready.
I had a very early miscarriage last month so I am very hopeful for the month. I have been reading that it is prob my progesterone levels so I have been taking Angus cactus, vitamin e, b complex, and c, on top of iron, fish oils and pregnacare. So hopefully this month will work out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile

FriendlyGhost · 11/05/2016 09:23

Welcome jp. Sorry about your miscarriage Flowers I also have a 17 month old. She feeds at least 3 times a day and once or twice a night with no sign of stopping. I got af back when she was a year and they're a regular 31 days now despite all the feeding. I've got af at the moment but as soon as it's over we're going to stop preventing and see what happens. I'm excited to start!

jpclarke · 11/05/2016 09:55

I am delighted I have someone to talk to friendlyghost. This will hopefully be #3 and I got pregnant straight away on my other two so this is hard. I am waiting to ovulate now.

expatvet · 11/05/2016 10:24

Sorry about your mc jp everything crossed for this month for you...xx

jpclarke · 11/05/2016 10:49

Thank you expatvet, I am hoping it had nothing to do with the fact I was breastfeeding

expatvet · 18/05/2016 10:55

Hi Guys! AF arrived today (hurrah! a new cycle another chance!) 30 day cycle this time, after 24, 28, 42 days last 3 cycles...

Anyhow, looks like DH and I will only get a chance to BD once during my fertile window as I am travelling for work... get home for one night and then he leaves for a week... Damn! Really hope nothing gets in the way for our one chance this month!!!!

Good luck everyone else - anyone waiting to poas at the moment?

expatvet · 18/05/2016 10:59

oh and operation wean is well underway - DH doing all night wake ups now and only feeding 3 x a day... cutting right back so I can leave him when I have to go away for work

expatvet · 18/05/2016 11:00

laceylee any luck? xx

lullaby23 · 18/05/2016 15:29

Hi all
Sorry I have been off the thread, we went back to the UK for hols which was lovely but jetlag still playing havoc with DS's sleep so still feeding him at night when he needs it but it's not helping him sleep Confused

I haven't been tracking properly but think we managed to DTD around ov so will be testing in a week or so if AF doesn't turn up, you never know.

How's everyone else doing?

lullaby23 · 18/05/2016 15:40

expat are you expressing for when you go away? I left DS with DM and he missed 2 feeds and wouldn't touch cows milk or formula!

expatvet · 18/05/2016 15:59

Hi lullaby, no I won't be expressing....I'm actually hoping this will be the end of our bfeeding journey...he's only on 3 feeds a day now but they are skipped if we are apart for any reason anyway..he drinks a little cows milk so I'm hoping that he will up it a bit while I'm gone and fx my milk will do a reasonable job of drying up when I'm away!!!! He will be 2 next week so not too mean!

lullaby23 · 19/05/2016 03:20

Aww expat 2 years is amazing, congratulations. I need to convince DS that cows milk is nice eventually!

expatvet · 19/05/2016 11:06

Thanks lullaby....I'm happy to have been able to...very well supported and work from home which really helps.

Pumkinpie1 · 19/05/2016 21:42

Hey well done on the weaning, I have just got my lo fully weaned at 13months, she wasn't bothered so I just stopped offering her n and replaced with cows milk. I have mixed feelings happy that I can concentrate on TTC but sad as she is growing up.

I'm sure I've ovulated this month, but hubby away so not made the most of it sadly but still positive for next month

expatvet · 20/05/2016 06:18

Well done pumpkin so glad she took weaning so well! Everything crossed for you for next month!

Pumkinpie1 · 24/05/2016 06:45

How's the weaning going expatvet?
Hope every one is ok ?

expatvet · 24/05/2016 07:41

It's ok....no night feeds now for a couple of weeks but daytime feeds are still going strong. Have to travel and leave him for a few days next week and hoping that may help kick my cycles back into order. If I don't have a 'normal' cycle this month then I really want to wean completely...I'm really ready for my bfp now!!! How are things going for you?

LaceyLee · 24/05/2016 18:36

Hi all this thread had come off my threads. No luck last month. I'm about 5dpo now I think but just to add to the difficulty my husband is working away during the week and I think I ov'd midweek (he was away this weekend as well!) so bad timing. I had horrible ov pains that lasted for days this month, thinking of going to get this checked out as I'm worried it's a cyst.

That's great going expatvet, I think I'm ready to wean now at 17 months but she has a cows milk allergy so that makes it a bit more difficult. Glad there's some chat on this thread!

Pumkinpie1 · 26/05/2016 14:01

Hi things are going well so far, lo is happy not BF. Cycle has been a bit all over hoping for a better 1 this month fingers crossed.
Fingers crossed expatvet, your lo won't miss the feeds while ur away and you can continue not feeding!

Lacylee my lo has a milk protein allergy too, I have just weaned at 13 months lo drinks soya junior milk loves it so I was lucky he was happy to drink that

expatvet · 26/05/2016 14:10

Sorry to here no luck yet lacey...it's a bugger when you've got travel to contend with too (snap!). pumpkin I hope you're cycle settles soon...I'm hoping mine will one we've completely weaned. Unfortunately ds is ill this week (low grade fever, cough and sore throat :-( so had been out of nursey and boobing lots in the day....really hoping he's going to be ok before I leave him next week :-( feeling a bit guilty about it already .....

LaceyLee · 26/05/2016 19:53

Pumpkin I'm sure your cycle will go back to normal now you've weaned. That's interesting that your lo has cmpa. Mine is also intolerant to soya but she does like some other milks. But I think she enjoys the process of bf-ing as a comfort, especially as I work full time. Feel bad about wanting to stop now I've thought of it that way! But today I distracted her from feeding with singing nursery rhymes so I'm sure she'd be fine.

Expat the travel thing makes it so hard! And I also worry about being on my own during the week with two do if we ever do manage to conceive! Would you be on your own withe two? We might move to wherever he's working, I guess.

LaceyLee · 26/05/2016 19:55

Also expat I hope your ds gets better soon.
