Hi Elle
I am currently in the 2WW after my first cycle and attempt to conceive. Was pleasantly surprised that I was able to DTD without interuption at the right time! My daughter still feeds mornings, evenings and nights. I would be sad to curtail our BF journey as given it took me a year to get pregnant not sure if I will succeed again :(

Pumkinpie1 · 30/11/2015 20:54

Hi all
Good luck kitty vet got my fingers crossed
I'm getting a little stressed AF hasn't returned yet , what's the average time it should return ?
I'm generally doing 4 feeds a day ( unless we have a bad night then 1 extra feed)
Should I try n reduce the feeding ?

kittyvet · 30/11/2015 22:28

Ps thanks pumpkin!

kittyvet · 30/11/2015 22:28

I am no expert but mine came back at 13mths. I am one of the longest to wait out of my breastfeeding friends. I was planning a small gap like 18mths but no chance of that now!

Pumkinpie1 · 30/11/2015 23:14

Hi
18 months is exactly what I was hoping for, baby is 7 months at min so still a bit of hope.
I don't want to stop breast feeding or not give my daughter on demand feeding because of my want for a second child as that doesn't seem fair or the best thing for her but really hoped once she had weaned I would start being fertile again
Looks like I might be in for a long wait,

Swannykazoo · 01/12/2015 21:43

Still feeding and no period here - DS will be 2 this month. I think I'm well out of the normal range though. Last time I was this keen to see my period I was a teenager...

teddybearsbear · 02/12/2015 19:43

Can anyone help me? My lo is only 4 months and I am feeding on demand

I haven't had any bleeding since he was around 8 weeks however in the past few days I have had a bit of light spotting only really when I wipe nothing major needing a pad or anything also noticed an increase in ewcm over the past two weeks

We want another baby close to this one so I haven't used any contraception when dtd.

Any ideas whether this spotting could be a sign of my cycle coming back?

ToElleWithIt · 04/12/2015 08:11

It definitely could be teddybears particularly if he's a decent sleeper!

There was a poll on an extended breastfeeding group I'm on and the median answer was 11 months, but it varied hugely from 2 months to nearly 3 years. Mine started when I went back to work. I think the long stretch during the day without feeding definitely helped to kickstart it.

So I realised this morning that I was 3 days late for my regular cycle ( 31 days) so I did an internet cheapy test before getting in the shower. Wasn't expecting much since last month's cycle was a ridiculous 43 days. Totally forgot about the test until went back up 30 mins later to brush my teeth and lo and behold a second line! Didn't really trust it after the 30 mins so cracked open the clearblue digi I'd been saving for a "special occasion" Blush and got a pregnant 2-3 weeks. Absolutely thrilled. Looks like we brought back a holiday souvenir!

Pumkinpie1 · 04/12/2015 22:34

Congratulations toellewithit Thanks I'm so happy for you !!
Fingers crossed we all have follow in your success

artisanroast · 06/12/2015 09:33

Hi all

I hope I can join this thread.

I'm 33 (well on Tuesday) and am EBF my 11 week old baby and want to conceive my second fairly soon.

My period hasn't come back yet and my lochia took ages to stop and only stopped 2 weeks ago.

I want a second quite close to the first because I like the idea that they could be very close/always have a wee friend to play with. Also though so I don't have to go back to work for long. Its not that I don't like work, I just prefer being a mum Grin. Financially I am also aware that I would need to go back ft to get a decent mat leave pay again.

It took 2 years to conceive number 1 so I am hoping the next won't take quite so long!

Congratulations toellewithit delighted for you Flowers

teddybearsbear · 06/12/2015 19:26

Artisan I can't offer any advice but am in the exact same position as you! My ds is 16 weeks old and people probably think I am mad but I want to get cracking with the next one! Don't want to stop breastfeeding tho it's a difficult balance x

artisanroast · 07/12/2015 03:37

Hi Teddy,

Its good to have some company on this journey! Trying to explain it sounds ridiculous to most people! haha!

xx

Leamice · 11/12/2015 10:34

Congratulations toelle!!

I just popped back to see if missed any bfps glad there's one :)

I was taking break from obsessing as I'm still on the same cycle as when I last posted... after ff saying I'd ov'd on CD12, It took away the crosshairs when i got to like 36dpo haha! obviously didn't ov. currently 6dpo - maybe - probably not- I have a follow consultant appointment on 22nd though have had no further tests as awaiting CD1 ha!

Anyway, good luck everyone, fc for some more bfps soon! :)

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 13/12/2015 23:27

Not been on for ages but just wanted to check in, congratulations elle!!! I'm halfway through another 2ww but not holding out hope as have been in the midst of 18mo sleep regression so lots of night feeding and not much dtd-ing last month! Xmas Grin hope you all have a lovely Christmas and get bfp's in your stockings!

DougalTheCheshireCat · 21/12/2015 15:35

Hello all.

I took a Mumsnet break in my quest to go to bed earlier. it has helped, a bit.

Big news here is last month there was a decrease in the number of days I spotted pre-AF! down from 7/8 days to 5. First improvement in the number of days for a year, although the amount has been dropping.

I was so surprised I did wonder if I was pregnant, and as that would have been a late August baby (which i'd rather not, but also it is the time my sister was born and died (neo-natal death)) I was actually pretty happy when my period came along.

Now back on with the Gynae and on clomid this month. Cycle day 12, had a scan, 2-3 (!!) eggs developing and a 'lovely lining'.

Completely stopped BF'ing now, DD had her last go a couple of weeks ago when ill, though I think I stopped making milk sometime before that.

If I wasn't for my age (38 1/2) I'd give it time, and i'm pretty sure my cycles would settle down and it would happen au naturel.

But as it is, I'm happy for the boost...

My discovery for the last couple of months: make and drink bone broth! read all about how and why here... heidibrockmyre.com/blog/1244

it has made me feel so much better I wish i'd found out about it ages ago.

How are you Pear?

Happy Christmas all round [fsimle]

DougalTheCheshireCat · 21/12/2015 15:36

Xmas Smile even

peardrop2 · 23/12/2015 15:04

Hi ladies, I promised to come back and update you!!

Just a reminder...TTC#2 for 1.5 years. I BF DS until he was 22 months. Have had many blood tests to confirm ovulation in the last 6 months. I didn't ovulate 2/3 months over the summer so I went for an ovary scan to check for PCOS last month. Scan was clear. I was referred to a fertility specialist. Changed our diets and put DH on a lot of vitamins and strict orders to drink a lot of water (DH has to drink 2 litres a day). My next fertility booking to discuss IUS is in February. I'm currently on Cd35 dpo12 and got a bfp this morning. I'm 2-3 weeks Smile An amazing early Christmas present!! I hope my story gives you all hope!

Dougal - good to hear from you and great to hear about your scan! You must be so chuffed with that!! Is your DH on vitamins? My fertility specialist told me that water is soooo important for sperm so maybe consider upping your intake if you haven't already! Are you taking Agnus Cactus? Good Luck with your clomid round. I have a few friends with clomid babies and it worked first time for them so I've got my fx for you!!

Elle - Congratulations Thanks We conceived on holiday too!

Wishing everyone lots of luck in 2016 and I hope my story gives hope that sometimes it just needs time. However, I know it's sooooo impossible to wait sometimes Confused

CongratulationsPear, what a fantastic Christmas present!!

lullaby23 · 24/12/2015 04:10

peardrop that is such fantastic news, huge congratulations to you and hope you have a healthy pregnancy Flowers

I have been lurking here so should better introduce myself Smile

34, currently BFing DS 8mo and would like TTC DC2 next year to have a small gap. I live overseas (trailing spouse) and worked for a while but decided to be a SAHP when pregnant with DS. Plan to move back in 2017 and go back to work hence wanting to get on with TTC!

Just about night weaned DS after a few months of seemingly constant feeding/co-sleeping although of course things might change, and he is down to 4/5 feeds a day. Hoping AF returns one of these days...

peardrop2 · 25/12/2015 05:24

Thank you Lea and lullaby X

Ah congratulations pear what a lovely Christmas present! Xmas Smile

Pumkinpie1 · 26/12/2015 12:31

Congratulations pear!!! So pleased for you
Lullaby I'm in exactly the same position as you 8 month old fully weaned having 4/5 feeds a day ! So desperate for AF to return
Randomly has anyone had phantom periods ? I seem to be experiencing them back pain cramping bloating for 2 days a month but no AF I've googled it some ppl say it's my fertility starting to return anyone no anything about it ?

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 26/12/2015 22:55

So my first cycle after coming off the pill was 33 days. The others have been 28-29. Turns out my apps were telling me my fertile period based on a 33 day cycle so after my most recent AF, they retrospectively changed when I ovulated and turns out I totally missed it with my dtd attempts. Cross but also relieved at having an explanation as to why I've not been successful yet. Don't want to try opk's just yet as I think they might make me anxious and obsessed. This month I am going for the every 2 day approach. DS is sleeping better jinxed it now so fingers crossed for 2016 BFPs.

lullaby23 · 06/01/2016 08:13

Hi All
Hope you all had a good festive / new year season. Thought I'd give the thread a nudge and wishing everyone their BFPs for 2016!

pumkin good to meet someone in the same boat! I spoke waaay too soon about night weaning DS as it all went to shit over Christmas. Oh well hoping things stabilise over the coming weeks and the old ovaries clunk back into action soon. I have experienced aches and pains too a bit like AF is en route that's encouraging that it might be a good sign, I put it down to over indulgence and the digestive system giving in....!

thats hope your cycle settled down and your ov dates become a bit more predictable for you.

I've been looking back at how DS was conceived. I used CBFM for a couple of months after AF came back (was on cerazette which stopped my periods) and I had relatively predictable 27/28 day cycles a bit shorter than before I was on the pill. The machine told me I was peaking/ovulating around day 17/18 so that's where I concentrated DTD the first month of trying. The second month we were going away and with the different time zones it was going to be awkward to do the tests so I decided to skip that month. We only DTD once on CD6 and I got my BFP. I can't understand how I managed to get pregnant so early on in the cycle when it was telling me I was ovulating late?! So weird.

peardrop2 · 06/01/2016 15:15

Thank you Thats & Pumpkin Smile x Happy 2016 everyone! Wishing you all lots of baby dust!!
