Peardrop - age 33, TTC cycle #9, DS is 26 months (stopped bf soon to be 4 months ago). Af returned when DS 14months, currently on CD14 and have had 4 flashing smileys. Praying for a static smiley tomorrow! Dangling legs in air!

We have a HUGE bed. She sleeps in a cot bed for Dad, but on a double mattress next to it on the floor for me. This does make dealing with wakings/ long bedtimes, more comfortable.

I'm sure many people think we're weird.

I moved big mattress away from her cot bed one night, thinking we could get rid of it, and become "normal". She fell out of cot bed, leading to an earlier than usual night waking. So, I reverted back to the system that works!

I'm fairly confident that upping from 1 to 2 feedings at my crucial cycle time has messed things up this month. CD17 and very little EWCM. Bugger, bugger, bugger. Back on 1 feeding again now, fingers crossed it could still happen.

Clara101 · 09/11/2015 19:28

Hey espresso, how old is your dc? My ds is 16 months... Bf mornings and eves.. I'm finally back down to a cycle of 29 days but I think I'll probably have to cut back a bit more to have chance to conceive.. Hope everyone else is well and that your move went well Dougal

BlueC2 · 09/11/2015 20:07

Hello lovely ladies, mind if I drop in with a quick question? Not currently ttc here but still BF my 16 mo DD and AF is a couple of days late. AF returned when DD was 12 months and has been regular 27/28 days since. We've hardly DTD for various reasons and not since last af. DD has upped her feeds a lot in the last month due to teething....is it likely this has messed with my cycle? Is it possible to skip an AF entirely or could it just be v late?

Clara101 · 10/11/2015 05:52

Hi Blue, see what the others think. But I think upping feeds can affect your cycle.. Cd it be for any other reason, eg if loads on or more stress than usual Good luck!

BlueC2 · 10/11/2015 06:36

Clara, stress and too much going on could also be a factor as I've just gone back to work, freelance from home but still crazy busy juggling it and the two DC! Cramps last night and this morning but still no sign...wish AF would just get on with it!

BlueC2 · 10/11/2015 15:51

Well, AF is now here! Thanks for being patient with me :)

kittyvet · 14/11/2015 07:15

Hey all, I lurked here a while ago but no AF so TTC not really an option. It took me 1yr to get pregnant with my 13mth old. AF arrived 2 days ago so I am dusting off my thermometer and my fertility monitor! Looking forward to sharing some of the madness. We also bed share with my LG so DTD is going to have to be creative this time round! How is everyone else doing?

Clara101 · 15/11/2015 19:28

Hi Blue, Kitty and all, congrats Kitty that's a milestone ;-). Doing fine here but wondering if I will need to cut feeds a bit to be lucky. How is everyone else?

espresso14 · 16/11/2015 10:07

It looks like upping feeds to twice a day for a week earlier this cycle (around cd 7) has massively upset things, as I've still had virtually no ewcm and I'm cd 23 now.

My daughter is nearly 23 months old, and AF only returned at 20months when I cut down to once a day. And the last cycle was 43 days long.

I would cut the last feed, but I have no idea how to!

Here's hoping I get my AF soon, so I can get on with next cycle instead.

tentothesix · 16/11/2015 10:35

Hello ladies! I posted a while back but had a couple of questions and looking for some advice...

My DS is only 20 weeks but he took a long time to conceive and I had extremely long / irregular cycles before conceiving. The first cycle I had a positive opk I fell pregnant.

Anyway...I'm BF and co sleeping and period not returned.

For many reasons we would like a close age gap (ha ha for those who joked before no he doesn't sleep well in fact he's awful so I think we are mad!) so we are ttc again.

Couple days ago I had string cm but I was unsure whether it was "fertile" I'm not great at judging these things and frankly a google of that was pretty grim! Shock

Anyway...this morning had clear positive opk. We had sex last night.

Is it likely to get a positive opk without ovulation as periods not returned?

Also before last night it was, about 5 days since last sex - might we have missed it?

Thanks for reading!

tentothesix · 16/11/2015 10:52

Also...just thought...occasionally my son has bottles. Should I reduce my BF and give him bottles today? (I have a very limited understanding of how BF impacts cycles.)

Swannykazoo · 16/11/2015 13:18

I think its very variable ten - some people seem to get their cycles back at 6 weeks despite EBF so it has no effect, other people seems to take longer. I can't believe I'm at sodding nearly 23 months and no period back. Grrr!
I must re-read NCSS for the toddler tips. DS has always done things on his own time - at a year was still sleeping on my lap in the evenings as he was such a bad sleeper, and its only been recently he could be put to bed at 8 ish and sleep till 10 (at one stage in the spring was waking up every 45 mins. - I would just take myself to bed on the 3rd wake up of the evening) He definitely doesn;t seem ready to wean.....

Pumkinpie1 · 17/11/2015 09:20

Hi I'm new to this post hope you can help
I currently have a 7 month old, breastfeeding 4-5 times in 24 hours but fully weaned on 3. Meals a day

We are wanting a second child but unsure if I can as no period yet? Is there anything I can do to boost my fertility ? or get my period so I can at least get an idea when I'm ovulating ?
Thanks

peardrop2 · 17/11/2015 15:08

Hi ladies, how is everyone doing? Can't see anymore bfps unless I've missed one? I'm OK. Frustrated but OK. AF is due this week so I'm just waiting for her to turn up. I've been temping this cycle which has been good for me as I can see that I've ovulated two days after my solid smiley (even though I find it the biggest chore)! I've had more blood tests. Turns out that I'm not diabetic and now I'm just waiting to hear the results of other hormone tests. I have a scan on Monday to check my ovaries. I'm still loosing weight. DH and I are on a health kick mission. Hope everyone is well. Dougal how are you?

OP posts:
tentothesix · 17/11/2015 16:40

Thanks puggle. Will just wait and see! Like you pear I don't think I would be good at the temping so hoping to not need it.

pear sorry I am still new to all this do you temp as well as use opk because the opk isn't accurate? Hope your scans go well!

pumpkin we can be new to this together!

kittyvet · 17/11/2015 17:15

Temp will confirm you have ovulated whereas OPK tell you its about to happen. When trying to conceive my daughter I def had cycles where I had a LH surge on OPK but no temp rise so suspect didn't ovulate those cycles. I conceived on a cycle where I got both!
Tried to get sticks for my old CB monitor but they don't exist anymore :( Looks like I might end up buying a new 'advanced' one or using cheapie OPKs.
Good luck to the newbies..trying to catch first egg before first period, but as I understand it you can't conceive until then. Waited 13 mths for mine but hear others wait years if breast feeding.

peardrop2 · 17/11/2015 17:46

Kittyvet - I use the old style CB sticks with pink lids and buy them from eBay or Amazon (whichever is showing cheaper). Are these the sticks you're looking for? Only gives a 2 day window but I'm now an expert at knowing when I'm about to ovulate from looking at cm and temping so I don't need advance warning. I actually use the ic opks all month and then when I feel I'm about to Ov I test with a CB stick which confirms it for me. I must say that until this month I didn't realise that I could be ovulating 2 days after seeing a smiley face!

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 17/11/2015 17:48

Tentosix - even though I get a positive opk it doesn't mean that I have ovulated. Blood tests have confirmed that I didn't ovulate the last two cycles even though I had smiley faces. That's why I now temp because it confirms that I did ovulate so I'm getting a better picture of my cycles as obviously I can't have a blood test every month.

peardrop2 · 17/11/2015 18:06

Sorry I meant to say I did ovulate this month according to my temperature. I use Fertility Friend to track it.

Pumkinpie1 · 17/11/2015 19:28

Hi
Yes tentothesix newbies together !
Do you think I should start using an ovulation monitor ? I hadn't as they all say use after your period.
Peardrop is fertility friend an app? And from your experience it sounds like I should monitor my temp for a more accurate reading.
Got my fingers crossed for you peardrop !

Clara101 · 18/11/2015 09:10

Hi all, hope the rest of your tests come out well pear and welcome ten and pumpkin. For people who have cut back on feeding, any tips? I'm currently doing bedtime feed then 5-7amish in our bed. Not sure which is easier to reduce or how to cut back!
Pumpkin, I've never used fertility friend but lots of people seem to say that helpful!

Cherryberry1 · 18/11/2015 20:40

Hello ladies. I'm going to mostly lurk whilst I wait for my body to catch up.

I'm still breastfeeding my 13month old DS on demand (with no plans to stop). AF returned at 7 months but has been quite irregular in the last 2 months (too frequent) so we are playing the waiting game for now.

kittyvet · 19/11/2015 20:55

peardrop the sticks I wanted were all white but bought some single use ones with mini digital holder and my monitor seems to be reading them. It took a year to conceive my daughter when we had no other pressures to interrupt DTD...I am guess I am in for the long haul here too.

kittyvet · 24/11/2015 09:35

Yay! High on my monitor so time to squeeze in some DTD! Anyone else?

ToElleWithIt · 30/11/2015 13:17

How's everyone?

I'm been MIA due to a very busy period in work and a lovely holiday. No joy on the TTC front. After regular 31 days cycles, the last one was 43 days. What the hell is up with that? CD31 here now, managed to DTD a good bit on hols, but not optimistic. DS has upped his feeding while away. I guess being a work puts a limit on that ordinarily. Giving serious thought to night weaning.

What's up with everyone else?
