So, on the back of a run of rather fantastic success stories, it's time to start another thread for those of us still driving ourselves a bit nuts trying to work out why number 2 seems to be so elusive. New frustrated, obsessive testers always welcome (as are our lovely graduates) and let's hope this thread turns out as many success stories as the last.

LittleT- amazing news!! I was just thinking about you the other day as well. Must have been a premonition. I've just had the first part of my ivf prescription through. Seems ironic to be prescribed a contraceptive pill right now....

Hugs mousey - that's crappy news. Did you say earlier that your progesterone was low? Maybe worth asking about the progesterone MrsM was taking once you're recovered and ready to try again?

Fruitbat - good luck with the marathon. Hope it works!

littletink I'm due at the start of December, just two months to go -eek!

Best of luck with the IVF littlepoot, I really hope it works for you and you finally get your BFP. Will keep checking back here to see how you get on.

LittleTink76 · 01/10/2015 23:36

LittlePoot Thanks. How strange. To be honest I've often wondered how you and Metal were getting on.

I've not managed to read all the thread, so when did you decide to give IVF a go? Yes very ironic, how come they prescribe you the contraceptive pill? Wishing you the very best of luck with it.

Metal not long at all & the time will probably go fast now. Hope everything is nice & straight forward for you.

Fruitbatyogi · 02/10/2015 07:55

Congratulations littletink! Amazing news Smile

And welcome to the thread hope nice to meet and hopefully your stay will be short - in the nicest possible way.

Sorry mousey [hugs] that's really crappy news Sad

little wow the ivf is really about to start - fingers crossed for you

Over here the marathon Dtd is over and I now have a uti Hmm predictable I guess- off to gp to sort
that out...

crispiecrunchie · 02/10/2015 13:19

Hi thanks for your reply! DH did his semen sample today and we should get results back next week from that. I had a load of bloods done recently and an internal scan with all clear. Hope all comes back normal

LittleTink76 · 02/10/2015 13:28

How long have you been trying for? Sorry I've not managed to read all the thread.

Metalhead · 02/10/2015 13:48

Ah, huge congratulations crispie! Hope you're both doing well x

Hopefornumber2 · 02/10/2015 14:06

VillageFete · 06/10/2015 21:07

Interesting day for me today. Got my hospital results.

Dp's sperm is doing great, infact so great that he high fived the consultant Blush

I have PCOS (quite a bad case) and he said something about insulin and how I will gain weight extremely quickly (this is true) He said he is certain I don't ovulate every month, but knows I ovulate sometimes as my day 21 test my GP done showed i'd ovulated that month.

I also have "more eggs than all the women in your street's eggs put together" The consultant's words, not mine! He said my body doesn't know what to do with them, and this also leads me to not ovulate on occasions. All in all, i'm not ov'ing regularly. He advised clomid, but was adamant that due to all my eggs i'd end up with twins if I went down this road & managed to conceive, so I declined the offer. He suggested I use the clearblue digital fertility monitor (already bought one a few weeks ago) and this will let me know for definite if/when i'm ov'ing, so we will just keep trying for now, with the help of this machine.

He is also pushing ahead for a hycosy due to birth conplications with DD, he feels we should check my tubes are clear. Getting that in November.

So, I think there's no reason I can't conceive eventually? It just seems to be that i'm not ov'ing every month & the months that I do, the timing is a little off maybe?

VillageFete · 06/10/2015 21:08

Huge congrats Crispie!!!! Flowers Enjoy your beautiful boy Xx

Fruitbatyogi · 07/10/2015 18:23

Phew village that sounds a lot more reassuring than your initial experience with the nurse.

crispie congratulations that's amazing news Flowers

Over here tww - 8 dpo, not using soy as reckoned it wasn't helping and didn't want to hinder anything.

Still got uti as first antibiotics didn't work - so bloody hoping that all that shagging worked... For more than just a utiGrin

Waitandwine · 07/10/2015 20:13

Village that sounds like good news.

Fruitbat, hope everything is back to normal soon! (And that its worth it)

I am showing all the signs AF is coming in the next few days, boo. Got my day 21 results back. Spoke to the receptionist who said the doctor had reported them as satisfactory, I asked what the result came back as and she said 37. So looks like I ov'd, but it's quite low (I think) if anyone knows more about this, advice would be appreciated.

VillageFete · 07/10/2015 21:52

Wait I didn't even know a result that included numbers came back? I'm so crap at all this! I just thought it was a yes/no answer? What do the numbers mean?

I've had some time to process the results I had yesterday and still not sure what it all means. I have PCOS, my body produces too much insulin and I have far too many eggs. Will I ever get pregnant with PCOS? Looking on the internet all I see is horror stories of people never conceiving.

Anyway, I am still having acupuncture. I don't find it enjoyable but it must be helping me. 3 months ago my cycle was 37, last month it was 32, this month it has been 30. My acupuncturist seems to think a 30 day cycle is pretty perfect and providing I ovulate this month, I have a great chance of conceiving with a 30 day cycle? My luteal phase is fine, DP's sperm is great, so providing my tubes aren't blocked (hycosy will confirm an answer to this in November) and providing I ovulate, am I in with a chance?

My GP done blood tests a while ago on day 22 and it said I ovulated that month. He didn't do a test on day 3 though so can I believe this?

Waitandwine · 07/10/2015 22:52

Village, sounds like everything is going in the right direction for you, so fx for a result.

The day 2-3 tests are different (I think) so I would say you can believe the doc. I am having those tests this cycle so will let you know if I understand more!

mousey100 · 08/10/2015 22:23

Congrats Crispie!

Village - lots of eggs sounds very encouraging, one less thing to worry about I guess. Sounds like things are moving in the right direction?

Waitandwine-yes, my progesterone on day 21 was 16. Apparently 'they' like it to be over 30 to show you've ovulated, but I obv had as I did get pg, just couldn't keep it. I did see a wonderful consultant privately the other day and he said the day 21 is a but iffy bc it's hard to pinpoint exactly 7 days post ovulation. However, he did give me a prescription for Progesterone to try next cycle. Best £250 I've ever spent -we were there for an hour and he was very reassuring and positive. Wish I'd plucked up the courage to go sooner and not let my GP make me feel like a timewaster. Hope you get some answers soon.

FC for some more pre-Xmas BFPs.

VillageFete · 08/10/2015 22:47

Hi Wait and mousey Well my Dr called me today, I am going in next week to talk over my diagnosis. Apparently my body can't handle all the eggs and clomid would probably not be an option due to hyperstimulation or something? So I guess my only option is to keep trying naturally and hope for the best as I don't appear to have another choice. I went and spent a lot of money on a clearblue advanced fertility monitor, but of course i've been diagnosed with PCOS and so the results from this will probably be misleading.

I asked for my results from my day 21 bloods, they were 79.6 which is great apparently? The Dr hastened to add that I certainly don't ovulate every month, so how do I pinpoint the months that I do? I think i'll try temping but don't know where to start.

Waitandwine · 09/10/2015 16:27

Hi village, you can pick up a bbt thermometer really cheaply on Amazon. I put all on onto the fertility friend app, it really easy. You just take your temp first thing every morning, before you even get out of bed to get it most accurate. 79.6 is great. Once you can pin point ov, you should be well away.

Mousey, that's great news about the consultant, sounds very productive. I need to find a good consultant! Did you find him on the hea site? Or was he recommended, as it's such a lot of money I need to be sure I go to someone good!

mousey100 · 10/10/2015 21:31

Hi Wait -I found the name of a nearby private hospital that had fertility consultants through extensive google searching, then googled each if the specialists to find reviews, mostly on mumsnet, netmums and babycentre. One kept coming up as being generally lovely and then a friend if a friend brought his name up randomly, so I went for him. I had no statistics! Just a good feeling and so far, I'm not regretting it but can't say it was the most scientific research! Hope you find someone you like and trust to give you the help and support you need soon.

Waitandwine · 19/10/2015 19:23

Had my results appoint today with GP, which all seemed very odd as he definitely didn't know if the day two ones were good or bad. He looked at the results said day 21 were lower than he would like. He has said he will get a private fertility doctors details for me to contact, as he said if I had of been eligible (which I am not) they would have tried clomid with me.

Still fx it 'just' happens!

How is everyone else getting on?

lovesmycake · 21/10/2015 10:20

Hello everyone it's been a long time since I have been on here so firstly congratulations to all the new bfp's.

Looks like there are a lot of new people here too, so sorry that you are in this situation but I found this thread to be a massive massive help and I hope you will too.

After 15 months ttc and 9 months of pregnancy little Rosemary Jean (rosie) arrived on the 31st of August weighing 8lb 10oz.

It's been crazy as she has a hip condition so is wearing a splint and we are relocating to another city on Saturday but she is a joy and I feel very blessed. Thanks again you wonderful bunch of people xx
