TTC - anxious over early pregnancy possible symptoms?

PrtyPsn · 27/06/2015 07:53

Hi,
First time post so please be kind :)
Been TTC for 4 months now (though month 1 we missed my fertile window)
I'm around 5ish days from AF being due but wondering if I could be pregnant for a few reasons: I e been really struggling to sleep the past few nights and when I manage to I have really vivid dreams (the kind when you aren't sure if they have actually happened when you wake up) I've been peeing almost double what I normally would and every now and then I get a weird feeling in my stomach, in a similar place to where I have period pains but it's not pain, it's more like when you over extend a muscle, just a twinge then it's gone.
Was wondering if anyone had similar symptoms? Sorry to pour all this in here (you've probably heard it a million times before) but nobody knows we are TTC so I'm kinda on my own with this!
Thanks

Bobbins, I know what you mean about work BtW, I had to go in late for my first bloods too. I just said it was a general docs appt. they all assumed it was about my joints, as I've had bad joints in the last. As DS is 8, I don't think they do suspect! You can't stop them speculating really, but they have no way of knowing for sure, so I would just let them speculate, and try to rise above it! Good luck!

Ellamorella · 26/08/2015 23:12

*in the past, not last!

PrtyPsn · 27/08/2015 08:23

shary I would say fasting bloods, doesn't prompt too many questions like a general appointment might (though if you have a random pre-loaded excuse like ingrowing toe nail that might work)
ella I'm the same - my first day was so light I didn't count it, now worried I've knocked my app out :( I'm having a 1 day buffer.
Need some cheering up ladies, think I'm out this cycle. App says I ovulated yesterday (remember the one day buffer) hardly had any EWCM this month (very unlike me) but the days when it was most prevalent was Tue... Pretty sure it was Tues night I had some weird cramps too... cos of schedules and commitments etc we haven't DTD since Sun (sigh)

Oh and CM is practically none existent this morning Hmm

neetie1 · 27/08/2015 08:44

Need cheering up to, today still brown when I swab but usually it's gone to red by now so no idea. Saying that still have backache at small of back and now getting more period style cramping etc
Off camping at an agility show for three nights will try to get on if signal allows but it is rather dismal for signal where I am going. Just as well I'm away as hubby is mega moody and just being horrid :(

SharyBobbins · 27/08/2015 09:13

Prty, is there any chance of DTD tonight? Sperm can live up to 5 days in fertile CM so there is a chance of catching that egg, everything crossed for you.

Thank you for your advice ladies- I think my first line of attack will be appointment at the doctors & if my boss then probes I'll say fasting bloods (I'm actually booked in to the fasting bloods slot as the receptionist look pity on me when I said work would make things difficult). What kind of symptoms/conditions require fasting bloods?! Maybe I'll just say they're testing my thyriod because that's actually true.....damn I'm overthinking this now....

SharyBobbins · 27/08/2015 09:29

Hope you're okay Neetie xx

PrtyPsn · 27/08/2015 10:35

shary yep, could DTD tonight but fairly sure my egg is past its best now (if it even showed up at all!) as its only really live for 12-24 hours max which took me to last night...
neetie hugs for you, lovely. Enjoy the time away and if it is AF then you got some cycle buddies here :)
Stupid men.... grumble, grumble, always moaning (and not in a good way!!) can't even get us pregnant... grumble, grumble

Damn my foof is on a mad one with this period! Stop, go, stop, go, stop stop stop, go. Sore boobs, no sore boobs, sore boobs. How about pissing off altogether?? I have know idea when my fertile days will be thanks to this! I told OH the only way to get through Sept is to DTD every other day. His eyes lit up!! Shock

So I've got 20 cheap Ov sticks and I have know idea when to use them or what they're even going to tell me. Do I test every day? Will they tell me if I'm about to ovulate, I am ovulating, or that I've already ovulated and it's too late but better luck next time?

Would love some advice! Grin

SharyBobbins · 27/08/2015 12:11

How long on average is your cycle normally Aindy?

PrtyPsn · 27/08/2015 12:20

I never got on with OPK aindy - never had a positive and found it bloody depressing!
Most people start testing on CD10 as most people ovulate between CD 10 and 20, keep going til you get a positive - this supposedly shows a hormone surge which means you are about to/just have ovulated.
Some people have found it quite useful but then I've heard people never have a positive yet have still got pregnant... I don't know

LittleAindy · 27/08/2015 13:37

Thanks ladies. Yes I'm in two minds about it. I think I just want to test out of curiosity and see if it matches with what I think is my fertile CM.

Prty - yes I've heard some just never get a +ve from them, so it probably wouldn't be a long term plan for me. It's bad enough seeing BFNs at the end of a cycle, don't know if I could handle it all the way through!!

Bobbins - I should be 4.5 - 5 weeks on average, but it seems to be all over the place since TTC. I've decided to blame the sperm for making my body do crazy stuff! Ha! Wink

PrtyPsn · 27/08/2015 14:01

That's exactly why I tried it aindy just to see (and the niggle I can't shake that I don't actually ovulate) I just found it too hard to face the BFN... I have randomly tested when I think I'm fertile (CM, app says etc) but still never had a positive

OP posts:
SharyBobbins · 27/08/2015 14:28

Aindy- I've used OPKs throughout my current cycle & have found them really useful in terms of getting to know my body a bit better. I got loads of the cheap dipstick ones from Amazon so I don't feel as compelled to use them sparingly like I did with the Clearblue ones. I got a +ve with the OPKs yesterday & again today, cd27 & cd28, which is early by my standards. I got a 'peak' with CB ovulation tests on cd33 during my last cycle. My CB monitor confirmed today as my peak day :)
Sorry if you know this already but the cheaper OPKs work by detecting luteinising hormone. You get a surge of this just before you ovulate. Conception is most likely to occur within 36 hours of the surge. So OPKs are a good indicator that you're about to enter your most fertile period. The CB ones look out for a rise in estrogen too as that's supposed to come before the LH surge so I guess they give you an even earlier 'heads up' that ovulation is pending. To he honest though I've spent over £100 on the fertility monitor & around £40 on CB ovulation tests over the past few cycles but I've found the cheap OPKs most helpful for me. I'm sure I got around 60 for £10!
In terms of when to start using them the leaflet that came with my OPKs has a little table on it which says when its best to start testing. If your cycle is around 4.5-5 weeks that's 30-35 days? For a 28 day cycle it says start testing on day 11, 29 day start testing on day 12, 30 day cycle start on day 13 etc...... Your cycle can vary though (like mine- ovulating 6 days earlier than last time) so just try & cover yourself for being early or late.
At the risk of sounding really gross these days I'm not sure what is CM, sperm or conceive plus leaking out so I can't really rely on that alone!!

Stripes1983 · 27/08/2015 17:47

Aindy I'm with Prty on the ov tests, tried them last 2 cycles as thought it would help me pin point when and even testing every day for about 2.5wks last cycle and no positive so next cycle ( if AF ever shows up!!) I'm going to try and give them a miss as found they were stressing me out , however hopefully you will have more luck !

Lou13e · 27/08/2015 18:33

I loved my ov tests as knew what my body was doing, I started testing on about day 10, got a faint positive on day 14 and a massive positive on day 15, I got that excited by getting a positive that me and oh had the worst dtd experience ever.. I made him wake me up when he got home from work, v unromantic!!!

Stripes1983 · 27/08/2015 19:17

Haha Lou - to be honest I think if I got a positive ov test I would be that excited I would have done the same lol

pinky17 · 27/08/2015 22:38

A positive anything is nice! I've never tried ov tests, I think it would actually take over my life even more than it is now!

Think i'm out of the race this month, bfn today on my cheapy Amazon test today, af symptoms too I reckon. Due on Saturday so will test again then if she hasn't appeared. Fun bank holiday curled up with a hot water bottle! All the trying and failing is so bloody disheartening!

Two more 'mum's to be' broadcasting their news today too, do one!

Lou13e · 27/08/2015 22:59

Pinky - know what you're saying re testing sticks, but they could really help, you may be ovulating when you least expect it, personal choice though :-)

PrtyPsn · 28/08/2015 06:57

Awww pinky that sucks, my lovely. Hugs and chocolate your way x
Managed to DTD last night but fairly sure it's too late, according to app I ovulated CD19, today is CD21... I have no clue as apart from some very minor CM abs a small twinge on Tues I had no real ovulation symptoms...
As an aside, I've got an eye on the post count & know you can't post more than 999, I will start another board slightly before we reach that point then stick the new link on here. But if that all goes tits up and someone unintentionally steals the last post then come find us - as I said before the title will be something about a festival of foof fun :D

returns from holiday, hands out toblerones

Hello all! Got back from a week in the sunshine last night which should have coincided with O. DH had the runs and an exploding bum for the first couple of days... Pretty romantic but we tried to make up for lost time after that! Drank too much and ate too much, it was lovely. So now another TWW, anyone else due around 8th Sept?

Hope everyone is doing ok xx

PrtyPsn · 28/08/2015 08:42

annie!!!! Good to have you back!! (grabs Toblerone and swallows whole)
Sounds like you had a fab time - clearly not the exploding bum but the other parts :)
I'm due 9th September and def need a hand to hold, already counting myself out due to lack of O symptoms and possibly mistimed/lack of DTD

OP posts:
Annie2311 · 28/08/2015 08:58

Let the hand-holding commence prty! x

SharyBobbins · 28/08/2015 09:05

Eugh the rollercoaster of ttc rolls on for us all doesn't it ladies Confused. Do you find you swing from being positive/hopeful to negative/dispondant day by day (even hour by hour?). I was expecting a rise in BBT this morning which confirms ovulation has occured- no such luck. I'm just hoping this is supposed to happen in the DAYS after not the DAY after a peak opk, otherwise I think I'm out Blush Shouldn't have got so excited by that +ve....

MummyBex1985 · 28/08/2015 09:31

Shary absolutely. Some days I am incredibly positive and laid back with a "it'll happen when it happens" attitude and others I'm convinced it's never going to happen and I'm insanely fed up.

Most times I'm pissed off when AF arrives but last month it actually made me happy to be able to start afresh after a 39 day cycle and two BFNs.

Weird journey isn't it.
