TTC - anxious over early pregnancy possible symptoms?

PrtyPsn · 27/06/2015 07:53

Hi,
First time post so please be kind :)
Been TTC for 4 months now (though month 1 we missed my fertile window)
I'm around 5ish days from AF being due but wondering if I could be pregnant for a few reasons: I e been really struggling to sleep the past few nights and when I manage to I have really vivid dreams (the kind when you aren't sure if they have actually happened when you wake up) I've been peeing almost double what I normally would and every now and then I get a weird feeling in my stomach, in a similar place to where I have period pains but it's not pain, it's more like when you over extend a muscle, just a twinge then it's gone.
Was wondering if anyone had similar symptoms? Sorry to pour all this in here (you've probably heard it a million times before) but nobody knows we are TTC so I'm kinda on my own with this!
Thanks

Oh godmother, sorry to hear you're feeling low after another af arrival Sad hope your duvet day has made you feel a bit better. Maybe give it a few days to get your head straight then think about the doctors. Even having someone to offload to can make you feel more positive.

Af is due on Saturday for me, still jabby stitch feelings to the right of my tummy, sort of near my pelvic bone but nothing else except maybe the onset of a cold! Had a runny eye for 2 days also which is not only very sore from constant wiping, but makes me look like i've been scrapping! My cheapy tests arrived today, will have probably used all 15 of them by Saturday!

Glad to be back online! Star

pomBearPooPouffe · 25/08/2015 23:56

That was a long time without MN!!!

Godmother, hope you're feeling better FlowersBrew

AF finished here. It was almost a week early and only lasted 3 days. Do I attribute this to the wonders of mooncups (which are sometimes said to shorten the duration of periods, though I don't know if i believe that) or do I go and POAS?

PrtyPsn · 26/08/2015 08:22

pom it's a tough call... if you think you can handle a possible BFN then test if you're not convinced it was AF - I had an unusually light AF last month but I knew it was that and not an IB.
Otherwise count it as a new cycle and get back DTD :)

Morning, woke up to both boobs hurting for about five minutes but when I swabbed again with cotton bud the discharge/blood was darker than yesterday but not red just yet so not sure...
No other symptoms either way aside from a slight cramping but really low level and not bothering me..today is day 25 of cycle so af could be any time now. Was kinda hoping it would be this month but hey ho...
At work am not permanent, ironically since I started have been covering maternity contracts..never seen so many pregnant teachers. If it happened this month I could finish at Easter and it wouldn't matter so much if I didn't have a job to go back to as I would just qualify for maternity pay (just the basic one) my worry is after this month I might not get it if I fall pregnant.
My current contract is up in Feb half term but they have said they want me to cover two days of the week in the same class as the other lady is only doing 3 days and then cover 2 days somewhere else, am concerned if they know am pregnant (when it finally happens) they might say no to that extra stuff and my contract finish at the feb half term which will mean no maternity pay...mmm getting myself into a right pickle about it :(

MummyBex1985 · 26/08/2015 08:58

neetie if they choose not to extend your contract purely because of your (hopeful) pregnancy then that's discrimination and unlawful.

If you could get it in writing that they had provisionally agreed to offer you extra work after February and then withdrew that offer then that would really help your case in the future...

(Sad that you have to think like that but I'm an employment lawyer so always a tad cynical).

0hCrepe · 26/08/2015 09:00

Lots of crazy foofs! Personally I think testing even if likely to be BFN helps. I tend to over obsess if I'm left to my imagination. I'd rather just think right, move on sort of thing.

On another note, DH said last night he doesn't want another dc. I bullied him into it apparently. So there we go. I do have 2 gorgeous children already though, who I am ever grateful for- kind of why I wanted to do it all over again! Guess my brief big family dream is not to be. May not have happened anyway.

I told DH I'm not having another coil or taking pill anymore - he can have the snip (I know he doesn't want to) is that bad?

On a brighter note a friend is bringing her newborn round this morning and I cannot wait for a cuddle with him.

I'll still follow this and look forward to seeing those BFPs!

Lou13e · 26/08/2015 09:45

Crepe, sorry to hear that Hun, is he 100% with his no? Maybe a little cuddle with your friends baby may persuade him that it's a good idea :-)

This 2ww is driving me crazy.. I'm only 4 days post ovulation dread to think what I'll be like in ten days, anyone poas today? Fingers crossed for everyone x

neetie1 · 26/08/2015 10:43

Getting more period like cramps..think I may be out for this month :(

LittleAindy · 26/08/2015 13:04

Crepe, sorry to hear that. Did he have a specific reason? I don't think it's unreasonable to ask him to have the snip. If it's his decision, he can do something about it!

Neetie, if it is AF, there are plenty of us here to all try again in Sept. I agree with Bex on getting extra work in writing. Also hold back on informing them of Pg until you're obliged to (depending on how early you show!). With #1, I was all excited and wanted to be upfront with the headteacher asap. I was on 20 contracted hours plus temporary additional 10. Funnily enough, 1 month after informing them of my pg, my additional 10 hours/week 'wasn't needed' anymore.

Lou13e, best of luck to you!! MN will help you ride it out!

Pom, If it was particularly light, I would probably do 1 test today and one in a week?

Pinky, mega Fx for you!

I went to docs today. Such a friendly and helpful lady (just registered at new practice). Took the time to listen, gave an internal exam and has sent some swabs off to make sure it's all ok down there. She hopes it's just a late period taking its time to come on fully. So just got to phone back next week for results of any abnormalities.

Kinda looking forward to end of the Summer hols so I can keep busy during the day and leave Google the fuck alone! My DS starts school next Thurs. I get so choked up just thinking about it!

britbird1980 · 26/08/2015 15:21

This all resonates with me as well. I have been TTC for the past 18 months. Today I got the results of my blood tests from my Dr and they are all normal which in a way was a relief but on the other hand made me even more concerned about why I haven't conceived yet. My OH hasn't had tests yet so am pushing him to get that done.

At the moment I am 10 days late for AF, feeling pretty exhausted to say the least, very achy all over and have a constant headache. Part of me just thinks it is general stress and tiredness but the other part is getting my hopes up. They have been dashed before though so am a bit scared to POAS just yet. Keeping everything crossed.

MummyBex1985 · 26/08/2015 16:03

10 days late?! Definitely time to POAS!! Grin

If it's negative then I'd really be pushing your DH to go for tests. 18 months is a fairly long time when you know everything is okay with you.

britbird1980 · 26/08/2015 16:17

thanks MummyBex... have been later than that before now but I am petrified to say the least. I have just taken on a new role at work which I have been wanting to do for a while- it involves a lot more money and travel so not the best time to get a BFP although I would still be over the moon obviously! It has been so long in coming, and something I have wanted for a number of years now.

Ellamorella · 26/08/2015 17:01

Hi everyone! well, after the weird MN blip, we're all back online.

Currently on day 3 of AF, with 2 days where I had the lightest spotting imaginable, just knew it was there. Nothing on the pants, just on wiping, and V. light at that! Do I count CD 1 from it actually arriving??

I'm on a new regime this month. Tracking properly (which amazingly, I've never managed consistently for a whole month!!), and also, overhauling my diet. Reading this GREAT book, called the Baby Making Bible, written by "one of the country's leading complimentary fertility specialists", Emma Cannon. She believes in balancing modern Western medical techniques with ancient Chinese ones. So you start off my looking at which "fertility type" you are by answering questions about your cycle, body and general wellness. I'm "Damp" which means I have to go on quite a strict diet overhaul. No wheat, gluten, sugar, coffee, alcohol etc... The sugar won't be a problem, and I'm on and off gluten free anyway, so used to that. The dairy thing won't be too bad I don't think. But coffee!! Oh no! But actually do feel I need to kick the habit. I'm way to reliant on it. Also, drinking nice teas, recommended essential oil massages (nice). Generally looking after yourself, and trying to be less stressed. And I think the idea is to follow the diet as best you can, but don't follow so strictly it makes you stressed!

Anyway, sorry for long post, and not responding to anyone individually, but thought I would tell you all about it. Even if it doesn't help with TTC, I really feel positive about how much better I'm going to feel doing it! Am also coupling it with "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" which I hope will finally help me understand my cycle a bit better!

Well, over and out, and apologies for the long rant.

So sorry for all of you who have had the dreaded AF, and BFPs. Hugs, love and be kind to yourself. Do something soothing and loving for yourself!

Stripes1983 · 26/08/2015 17:07

Afternoon all , still no AF for me - 8 days late now but determined not to POAS again as already had 2 BFN! Also I think Google should shut down when TTC - whatever the circumstances you can find someone who has found out they are pg after all lol!
Neetie - sorry to hear about potential AF, and the unsettled work situation , I was made perm last month after being on secondment for 2.5years so know what it's like but see if like the others say they will give you some written confirmation xx and fx Brit x

SharyBobbins · 26/08/2015 20:20

Hi ladies,
Hope you don't mind me joining in! It's taken nearly 24 hours but I've read all the posts on this thread so I've shared some of your ups and downs already. You seem like such a supportive bunch and I could do with a bit of that right now!
I came off the pill in January and since then I've had 5 cycles. They seem to have settled in to a pattern of 43 days, which makes me "irregular" according to everything I've read. I'm monitoring myself pretty closely this cycle with temping, a clearblue fertility monitor (my enemy) and cheap OPKs. I got quite upset during my last AF and ended up speaking to my GP for advice. They were really supportive and agreed to 'day 21' bloods. The poor doctor had to basically guess what would be a good day to do them. The good news is that the day he picked is next Thursday and today I got a positive on my OPKs meaning if I'm going to ovulate it will be tomorrow. Next Thursday will be 7 dpo which is when the bloods should be done. I'm sure he'll be impressed to have guessed correctly!
Fingers crossed for you all, I hope you don't mind me sharing your journeys with you x

LittleAindy · 26/08/2015 20:50

Hello Bobbins! Thanks for sharing. I love all the different stories and situations on here. It really does go to show that there is no 'normal' cycle!! At least yours has settled into a pattern. That's good news Smile

Good luck and really hope all is well with bloods. It helps so much with a positive Dr. I can't believe how much they can vary in their attitudes on such a sensitive subject.

Fx!

SharyBobbins · 26/08/2015 20:59

Hi Little Aindy, you're so right. I honestly got the shock of my life when I spoke to the GP. I initially rang just to see if they had a doctor at the practice who specialised in anything fertility related (my named GP is a dermatologist!). I explained to the receptionist that I was asking because I was thinking of booking an appointment in a few months time (closer to the one year ttc mark). The receptionist said they don't have a GP who specialises in that area but offered to get a GP to ring me back. I told him my cycles are 43 days and he asked if I was ttc. When I said yes he offered the blood test. I do think luck was on my side that day. I think if it had been another GP (or even another receptionist) I wouldn't have got that far x

PrtyPsn · 26/08/2015 21:27

Evening ladies and a big welcome to shary that's some commitment to read all 890 odd of our rambling posts!! I salute you! Of course you are welcome to join our thread and share your journey, I could never turn away a Simpsons fan :)

Hi Bobbins! Welcome, I hope you find this board as supportive as I have!

It sounds like you've had an interesting journey, as we all have, and I must say, this is a really great place to get support and encouragement during what is quite a difficult time.

I'm having my second lot of bloods done tomorrow at the docs. I've been TTC on and off for over a year, and am 38, so I've got to the point of having blood tests at the doctors. In some ways I don't really want to go too medical yet, but I guess there's no harm in getting tested. I'm currently trying some alternative ways of boosting my fertility. See my loooong post above.

Aindy, hope your tests come back ok. Seems like we're all getting not too bad treatment on the old NHS, although I know it can be a struggle to get heard.
x

MummyBex1985 · 26/08/2015 21:47

britbird I know how you feel - I just turned down a job on about 50% more salary because I figured if I fell PG quickly then after my 3 month notice period I would be there about four months before leaving lol.

The good news is as you've started before becoming PG you'll qualify for maternity pay Smile

LittleAindy · 26/08/2015 21:51

I like the sound of that book, Ella, especially finding out your fertility type! Tricky one on your CD. I suppose technically your lining was shedding then in order to get even the light stuff? Maybe go with it as CD 1 but allow yourself a 2 day buffer with Ov'ing and AF due date? Hmm

SharyBobbins · 26/08/2015 22:14

Thank you for the warm welcome ladies Smile I'm grateful to be going for the bloods but I am worried about the fact that I'm going to have to tell work I'll be late in because of my appointment. Am I best just saying I have a doctors appointment? I think they'll question why I'm going on work time so maybe I should say I'm having fasting bloods (appointment is early morning). It's pathetic that o have to lie but people in work keep asking when I'll going to have a baby. A colleague told me the other week that I "have the look of a pregnant lady" & that she shared this opinion with another colleague who subsequently asked if she had missed me making an announcement. I don't want to add to the rumour mill & certainly don't want my bosses to know I'm ttc Shock

SharyBobbins · 26/08/2015 22:16

*apologies for the typos, I can't edit posts on the app!

SharyBobbins · 26/08/2015 22:18

Good luck for tomorrow Ella x

Ellamorella · 26/08/2015 23:08

Thank you Bobbins, you too!

Andy, yes, I'm going to do basically that. Count first real bleeding day as AF, but add in 2 days buffer time. Phew this stuff is complicated!
