Hi ladies! I am 33 and have been trying to get preggars 6months now :( feels like forever. my partner has two children from prev relationship (marriage) and his ex fell pregnant straight away apparently, my younger sister-by 6 yrs is pregnant with her 2nd which happened 2 months into her relationship ! I have been really positive this month but my period is due wed and now i have brown spotting-meaning am out again. I guess i am just on a downer now... this sucks. I have a regular 28 day cycle and ovulate day 13 (opk) and have sex at least every other day! eating more healthily and tried fertilcm to help. I have worked with children for years and so long for my own. I am addicted to these threads and love how everyone is so supportive of one another! Fairy dust to us all!x

Cinder I feel your pain! I'm fairly sure AF is coming, as I'm feeling crampy, grumpy and nauseous...it's my first natural period in YEARS (break week on the pill doesn't really count as it's totally different hormones) and I'd forgotten what it was like - as my AF only came every few months when not on the pill anyway (and that was likely just a withdrawal bleed anyway, not a real period either). I'm conflicted between being delighted I think a proper period is coming, and hating it because I feel so minging!!

CinderToffee · 16/07/2015 11:06

Oh I know - I came off the pill in October after years on artificial contraception and no periods at all for quite a long time. I'd totally forgotten how awful natural periods can be!

Mermaid36 · 16/07/2015 12:02

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! These last few weeks have been hellish!

Apart from TTC, i have no idea why women put themselves through this every month. I have felt worse than almost any illness I've ever had....and I've still not started AF!!!

bananafish81 · 16/07/2015 12:21

Mermaid - SO very much this!! When I was on the pill I used to run on packets and just have a break every few months, GPs all said absolutely fine. With the hormones, the lining doesn't really build up so there's not the same risk as not having periods if NOT on the pill. If my PCOS meant I wasn't having periods, I'd have had to be given a few days of the mini pill to break on a bleed every few months, because of the lining building up and risk of endometrial cancer.

But these faux periods are a) nothing like a real AF and b) for me were v infrequent. Seriously, how do women do this every month? One week in every 4?!!

PallasCat · 16/07/2015 15:59

I'd totally forgotten how awful natural periods can be! Ugh couldn't agree more!

Sorry MrsStick Sad

CinderToffee · 16/07/2015 16:50

I find them really exhausting. It's interesting - it's not really acknowledged much is it? If men had them I bet they wouldn't ever stop going on about it.

Babycakes100 · 16/07/2015 18:18

Sorry to hear about your AF mrsstickll FX for your next cycle xxx

And for you other ladies waiting, I hope it stays away and that your symptoms are positive. Cinder - your ache sounds peculiar. Do you know what implantation is supposed to feel like? Is it like a pulling pain?

Sooo even though I said I was giving up OPKs, I just had the urge to do one today. My clearblue ran out yesterday so I went to the shop to buy some cheapies. Can anyone shed any light on the result below?? Is it positive? And if not, why the hell is it so dark?? Does it mean I have PCOS?

VioletIbiza88 · 16/07/2015 19:12

It looks positive to me Smile

CinderToffee · 16/07/2015 19:16

Those two lines look the same colour to me babycakes - that means positive doesn't it? I've never used them so I'm not too sure!

I did wonder about implantation pain - I guess it could just about be possible: I reckon I could be 6 or 7 dpo. It's not very likely though. It is a weird kind of dragging pain. I have probably imagined it! I have felt really off colour all day, but it's more likely to be a bug or something!

Babycakes100 · 16/07/2015 19:57

Thanks ladies :) I really hope so. It might explain my cramps and fatigue.

Conder - from what I've read, that is what implantation feels like:
"Implantation cramps feel like light pricking or pulling pains and occur in your lower abdomen around a week before you are due to get your period. The cramps are due to some of your uterine mucous membrane melting at the implantation site as this allows the fertilized egg to better attach to the uterine wall". That couples with your off colour feeling could most certianly be a positive sign. FX for you xxx It know it's hard though isn't it...when you think you notice a symptom you obsess over it and end up wondering if it actually exists!

Babycakes100 · 16/07/2015 19:57

Cinder haha not Conder. Was typing really fast with excitement haha

Babycakes100 · 16/07/2015 20:09

OMG I just found this video:

Fascinating but made me think conception is EVEN HARDER than I first thought. The sperm have to go on a major quest to get there jeeez

bananafish81 · 16/07/2015 21:06

Babycakes that looks like a positive OPK to me! And yes, conception is a miracle. The egg only lives for 12-24h max, and sperm CAN live for up to 5 days, but only if they can swim through fertile CM...and of the millions that get, er, deposited, only 300 or so make it to the fallopian tube. And only one gets in. And then even if fertilised, lots and lots of embryos don't implant. I do find it bloody amazing that there are so many BFPs, as when you think about it, the 'trying' in TTC is really very true!

CinderToffee · 17/07/2015 13:49

It is amazing isn't it?

My off colour feeling and weird pains seem to be gone today, so I think it was all in my head!

Is anyone temping? I've tried to start, but the temps I've got seem to be all over the place. I guess I won't be able to make any sense of it until I've done a whole cycle, but I thought I might as well start right away to get into the habit.

Mermaid36 · 17/07/2015 16:00

I've been taking my temp, but TBH it's fairly all over.... I'm taking it first thing in a morning before I get out of bed etc. Got a decent digital thermometer but as yet I'm unconvinced...

VioletIbiza88 · 17/07/2015 16:09

Hello, I haven't been posting much but have been keeping up with the thread. AF got me this morning so I'm moving onto cycle 5. Started temping this morning actually Cinder are you doing opk's as well or just temping? I have been doing opk's for the last few months and they always go positive on CD15 so I guess I ovulate on CD16, wondering if I need to continue with opk's or just assume it will remain the same each month and just confirm by temping that ov is actually happening?

Sizzle81 · 17/07/2015 18:40

Sorry AF has arrived mrsstickll

Have just watched that video. It really is amazing.
OH wasn't impressed and I now think he has an idea about my level of crazy with ttc!! Haha

PallasCat · 19/07/2015 14:34

Sorry Violet - same here - AF got me yesterday.

Babycakes100 · 19/07/2015 17:03

Hey ladies, sorry about your AFs. I really, really hope it happens for everyone soon.

Cinder - did your pain persist at all?

Anyone have anything to report?

CinderToffee · 19/07/2015 17:25

No it didn't really. Maybe a twinge or two on Friday, but that was it. I don't know if that's hopeful or not really. I'm trying not to get too excited, but we're going to visit my parents at the end of the month and I keep daydreaming about how nice it would be to tell them I'm pregnant!

Still, AF is due next Saturday, so my plan is to test on Sunday morning if she hasn't shown up. My cycle isn't bang on 28 days, it usually varies a bit, so I figure if it's positive then hurrah, but if it's negative that should be pretty conclusive and I can give up hope for this month!

PallasCat · 19/07/2015 19:03

FX for you Cinder

Mermaid36 · 20/07/2015 14:32

confused

So, I came off the progesterone-only-pill 5 weeks ago. I've not yet had a period, but the other week I had all the (horrible) symptoms of AF, except the bleeding. I had mood swings, sore boobs, period pains and felt dreadful.
I've been fully waiting for AF to arrive, but nothing.

I've been tracking using the Ovia app (temping every day, plus symptoms, weight etc) and yesterday (according to the app) is apparently my fertile period (cos of temps etc)

Can this be right? Even if I haven't had a bleed, could I actually be fertile? Do I need to tell hubby to spring into action, so to speak?

CinderToffee · 20/07/2015 16:30

Mermaid I'm pretty sure you can ovulate before you've had your first post pill period, yes. I'd go ahead if I were you!

Babycakes100 · 20/07/2015 19:10

Mermaid - yeah I'd go for it - don't see any reason why you couldn't ovulate before your first bleed. FX! My GP said that after coming off the pill, you can still ovulate and get symptoms of AF but no actual bleeding.

Cinder - I bet this will be a long week for you! Let's hope it's good news.

I would so love to be pregnant around Chirstmas (obv anytime soon tho!)...only 5 months to go now. I think falling pregnant now would be nice as the baby would be born in spring. This TTC has made me such an impatient person. Does anyone else think about it like all the time? Even if they try and make a conscious effort not to?

Londonlady2015 · 20/07/2015 21:34

babycakes my head is full of the thought of TTC all the time, I totally get where you're coming from. I think because it's largely out of our control too.
Am 10 dpo and tested this morning, posted the pic on the summer heat thread and the feedback was good. Just won't believe it til it's on a digital (AF due thurs fri this week)
