how did the 150 go for you? Were there any changes at all?

Freddiesmother · 06/08/2015 20:09

Vixxface for me nothing from 50 or 100g but responded to 150 there was one dominant follicle so don't give up Grin

RoseBud2015 · 06/08/2015 20:30

I haven't taken it yet. I'm taking provera at the mo and will then try it.... fingers crossed Freddie is giving me hope! X

Freddie you're giving me hope as well.

Do you think i should just take 150 before asking nurses? I have the tablets here but they are charging 275 per cycle
how many cycles of 150 did you do?

Freddiesmother · 06/08/2015 21:09

I don't know about asking the nurses for me there was no question that it would be upped to 150 if I didn't respond to 100. I assume you will need to talk to the nurses as you will need to book in tracking scan etc prob worth putting a phone call in. I have only taken one cycle of 150 and haven't conceived (although no af either so not convinced I actually ovulated inspite of positive day 21 tests) so I have 4 cycles left and am taking with metformin guess i will be back on the provera like rosebud next week.

Pebbles086 · 06/08/2015 21:52

bananafish just laughed my head of reading your posts!! Grin I will be trying preseed just for the fun of it I think!

battenburg depression is a common side affect of PCOS so I could imagine it to be quite common in pregnancy and afterwards. And it's nothing to feel guilty or ashamed about. Good on you for staying so calm! Xx

Vixx sorry about your scan, I cannot imagine how that feels xxx

battenberg123 · 07/08/2015 10:25

haha Bananafish ttc does crazy things to people!

Vixx sorry to hear about your scan, I hope that upping the dosage will work for you - may send your hormones into overdrive though!

I'm a little worried as I stopped taking metformin last week because it was making me feel sick Confused now I think I should've stayed on it as it prevents miscarriage. Do you think it's wise to start taking it again? I'm unsure what to do and can't get an appointment as my doctor is on holiday!

PontyGirl · 07/08/2015 10:58

battenberg how long were you on it before you stopped? and how long have you been off it? when I asked my gp about using metformin in pregnancy (last time around - I didn't use it at all even to TTC but I was curious) she said she always recommends her patients to carry on if they've already been taking it. can you get a telephone appointment?

battenberg123 · 07/08/2015 11:07

ponty I was on it for about 3 weeks, I stopped taking it last week. I think I will just start taking it again and hope for the best Confused

No appointments until Monday they said Sad

PontyGirl · 07/08/2015 14:15

battenberg fwiw, my GP (who was a gynae in her previous medical life!) didn't give much credit to the apparent higher risk of miscarriage in women with pcos. do what feels right for you. when I was pregnant with DD I ate low GI for the first 3 months as I was so worried about insulin levels etc. no science to back that up though Grin

Rufus200 · 07/08/2015 15:13

battenberg honestly if you were only on it for 3 weeks it isn't going to make much difference. Also you are probably going to start feeling really sick soon, my morning sickness started at 5 weeks and is only just subsiding now at 14wks, if metformin makes you feel sick anyway then it is going to make things much worse! I was on a no carb diet after 5pm when TTC, that went out the window, as carbs are the only thing that reduces the nausea. I lived on sweet salt popcorn at nighttime otherwise I went to bed retching and then couldn't sleep. I've put on 21lbs!!! I've gone from a size 8 to a 12, no bump just rolls of fat!!! I'm hoping from next week I will be eating healthier, I always swore I wouldn't eat for 2 but if I wasn't shovelling food down 24/7 then I couldn't move!

Dollface136 · 07/08/2015 16:27

Battenberg I would say wait to speak to your GP, anything you do over the weekend wont have time to make a massive impact on you by Monday, and your GP knows you and your medical history so will be best placed to advise you on what to do. If you are worried about m/c (as am I and prob every other PCOS preggo) then he may be willing to refer you for an early scan at 8 weeks to help put your mind at rest or give other helpful advice.

I have had to stop myself several times this week from popping random things (baby aspirin, herbs etc) because they supposedly help prevent miscarriage but the one thing that stops me is the thought that at the moment everything is fine, and why intervene with that based on google/internet rather than actual medical experience and training?

PontyGirl · 07/08/2015 18:23

battenberg just try to relax. go on Monday and talk it through with a GP. just keep thinking "today I am pregnant" because you are, and it's wonderful. try and have a relaxing weekend Thanks

battenberg123 · 07/08/2015 19:48

Thanks all of you, I'm sure it will be fine.

I know what you mean Dollface I prefer not taking any kind of drugs unless I absolutely have to! (Apart from ibuprofen for headaches!)

Freddiesmother · 07/08/2015 20:17

Battenberg are there things you can do that will take your mind off things? Did you tell your partner yet? Might feel better if you had someone to talk to about your worries? Just a thought.

I am really pleased as af arrived today which means I pretty much defo ovulated which I am really chuffed about. It means it's all working but this month just wasn't our month. It's the first time I have had a period in about 3/4 years which wasn't provera induced so feeling good. Can start second go on 150g clomid tomorrow. Fingers crossed for better luck this cycle

PontyGirl · 07/08/2015 20:19

freddiesmother that is FANTASTIC! Thanks that's such a big deal! just goes to show that it can really work. fx for your bfp soon!

IsItIorAreTheOthersCrazy · 07/08/2015 21:03

vixx sorry about your scan. How are you finding Clomid?

mrsbiscuit I'm in South Wales too! The waiting times are awful to start off but once the ball is rolling they're pretty good.

Oh pebbles sorry about your tubes Flowers What is the plan of action now? Are you ok?

oranges how did your appointment go?

zany I mean this nicely - you will need to be quite assertive to get things moving. IME Drs are a mix of great and clueless and you'll need to push to get where you need to go.
Any Dr at your surgery can refer you, and the sooner you do it the better!

freddiesmother sorry for your BFN Flowers and AF but very pleased that you ov'd. How are you finding the 150mg? I started the dose this cycle and it's horrendous.

battenburg CONGRATULATIONS!! Grin Flowers

bananafish wow, what wonderful news! Fingers crossed for you this cycle! How are you finding the clomid?

rosebud Welome back!! Smile So glad your holiday was exactly what you needed!

stealth I hope you're feeling better now and that DH was suitably shamed at being awol that he's spoiled you

So I'm back from my mini break (actually got back yesterday). It was eventful I guess. I was at my estimated ov dates and this is my first cycle of 150mg Clomid.
My hormones have been insane. The only way I can describe it is to say it's like being 14 again. I felt insecure, sad, angry and horny at the most random times which then made it hard to dtd when needed. Also, my boobs are bigger and so tender I've needed to keep my bra on pretty much constantly. We managed to dtd twice but I was hoping for once more before we left.
I'm now trying to keep myself calm becasue Im getting anxious about wasting clomid by not dtd enough.

stealthbanana · 07/08/2015 22:31

Hi all! So much good news - BFPs and Os and DTDs and all sorts of other acronyms!

Isit- yes dh feels absolutely awful and has been apologising all week, and is taking me jewellery shopping tomorrow which is very uncharacteristic for us, but I'll take it!

No news other than guilt induced jewellery to report but thrilled that everyone is moving along so well. Am wondering whether to fall down the rabbit hole that is opk testing or not - is it worth it or is it so unreliable that it's just another annoying thing to overanalyse ?

bananafish81 · 07/08/2015 23:02

Freddiesmother fantastic news about AF - well, not as fantastic as a BFP obviously, but terrific that you ovulated, yay!

IsIt sorry you've been suffering so much from the Clomid side effects, you poor thing. Hope you managed to enjoy your mini break despite the horrible hormones. I can totally relate to stressing about not DTD enough during the run up to O - but twice ain't bad! Very very best case there's a max of 5 days you can upduffed in any given cycle, and that's assuming you've got optimum CM for the swimmers to survive in. From what I've read for most of us it's more like 3 days. The targeted rifle approach can have just as much chance as the machine gun approach. That's what I'm telling myself anyway!! I think if sounds like you're doing great my lovely.

I'm sorry you've been suffering so much - we're all here for you to lend a sympathetic ear. For me the main side effects were massively drying up my CM, and thinning my lining.

My lining was on the thin side already, but wasn't keeping pace with the follicle growth. So he said it looked pretty unlikely it would be thick enough to support implantation this month. So not expecting anything this month - though we did our best to try and catch the egg just in case! DH doesn't have the highest sex drive but is vg at asking about the monitors and OPKs so we can do our best to make sure we're at least DTD when it matters most.

Have to say though, as hard as it is for us having the constant stress of what our bodies are doing, it's not exactly a breeze for the guys when they know they have to deliver the goods. Certainly timed intercourse at c.12h & 36h post trigger is quite a lot of pressure!

Orangesarenot · 08/08/2015 00:15

Evening everyone

battenburg amazing news! Seeing your test pic made my day.

Stealth really glad you're feeling better.

Bananafish what's your trick for putting on weight? I'm trying to do it in a low GI way so I'm eating normally but with peanut butter chasers after every meal, and cheese or avocado at any opportunity.

I've been loving the TMI about CM this week - I thought it was just me who needed to be liberal with the preseed!

My news is frustrating. At the appointment the consultant gave me details of all test results, and she was right - all numbers are on the low side of where they should be, but are all within normal range. She was a bit concerned that I'd failed the provera test, and more concerned that my BMI wasn't over 20. Although NICE guidelines say they will treat anyone with a BMI of 19 or over, she said my thin lining meant that she didn't want to 'waste' one of my 6 Clomid cycles by stimulating ov if my lining was too thin, especially as clomid makes the lining even thinner. She gave me 3 more tests - provera (again), norethisterone (if provera doesn't work), and a leptin blood test. She's also told me to get my BMI to almost 21. I'll go back in 8 weeks, which gives me just enough time to take the provera and norethisterone challenge and to put on more weight.

At the end of the appointment I was not happy, whereas DH was being annoyingly reasonable and pointing out that her arguments were logical. Then I went to see a friend who had IVF at a very well known, successful clinic for DC2, and she said a nurse told her that one of the reasons they were so successful was because they were so fussy about female BMI. So I'm trying to take it on the chin, and do as the consultant says. I'm also considering soy isoflavones - does anyone know if you can take them at the same time as progesterone?

They're still not sure if I have PCOS or not, but treatment wise it looks like I'm similar to some others here, so I hope I can keep lurking? I don't think I could cope with a normal TTC thread, I'd be jealous everytime an AF arrived because at least it meant they ov'd!

Two more random questions... has anyone tried fertility yoga? And has anyone else given up booze?

Ginfizz90 · 08/08/2015 13:30

Hi everyone, seems like congrats in order for some of youSmile just shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel we have to keep positive mental attitude!
So I'm cd 3 taken 100mg of soy today, first time I've tried it... Fingers crossed.

stealthbanana · 08/08/2015 13:42

Hi everyone, happy weekend! I've just come back from my regular Saturday swim & weigh and I've lost just over 3kg since last Saturday. Not good! I'm now down under 9 stone. Do you think it's the metformin? Or just the disruption of the HSG? Really don't want to lose weight - I was in a really good place before this Sad (Apols to those who are trying and struggling to lose weight - it seems so unfair, why can't we give each other some of each others' metabolisms?!)

Ginfizz90 · 08/08/2015 14:11

Stealth i didn't lose any weight on met. In fact all I got from it was dreadful tiredness, unable to concentrate on anything and really lethargic. Which is unlike me! I was sleeping for 12 hours and still struggled to get up. My gp has advised me to stop taking it, it didn't help with my cycles either. Sorry hope that helps

LunasMom · 08/08/2015 14:17

Please help me. TTC, never been pregnant..can it really be?? Both these tests taken this morning!! After the first blue dye test I went straight to the store for pink dye and can't believe my eyes. Pregnant?? With PCOS?

TTC with PCOS (Thread #2)
stealthbanana · 08/08/2015 14:25

Hmmm gin, I haven't really had any side effects other than bloating for the first couple of days and maybe a little tiredness but nothing crazy. I'm on the extended release version, maybe that's different? Too early to see what met will do to my cycle, let's see what the next few weeks hold!

Luna - welcome. To me it looks like both those tests are saying you're not pregnant (eg the blue dye test should have a cross through it not a line) but will leave it to those who have experience with poas-ing. Either way, welcome!
