In the UK there are an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 people who are gender non conforming yet less than 5000 have actually applied for a gender recognition certificate to change their legal gender â?? and only about 15,000 have sought clinical support. So the vast majority of trans people remain in secret or have found a way to deal with their gender issues without medical or surgical treatment.

Sad

I agree DizzyNorth, I understand why it needs to be able to be addressed at a young age but we really do need to define how young is too young. 6 years old and being away of transgender is scary.

The evidence is interesting. You hear of transgender adults saying that they knew at a young age that they were in the wrong body but I wonder how many young children will end up going through gender changes just because they like playing with toys that don't align with their genders stereotypes. Maybe we need a gender-friendly equivalent of the Gillick competency/Fraser guidelines?

Welcome newbies!

Alpha - we are almost stat twins as I have been TTCing no. 1 since Christmas and was 31 when started - have turned 32 since. Best of luck to you.

Twinkle - I think your approach has been very restrained so far. I was OPKing, temping and analysing vag goo from the word go. I totally get what you mean about always having wanted it combined with always thinking somehow you won't. Glad it's not just my mad brain that thinks that way.

Louis Theroux sounds really interesting - have to have a look! I saw a vid going round on FB recently about a 10 year old transgender that made me blub my eyes out. High school is a cruel, cruel place (and that's just for the teachers ;-0) so I am glad some kids are overcoming these battles before they have to contend with that too.

sparkly, I've decided the best way to look at your situation is to think that spotting and cramping is how your body reacts to early pregnancy and the reason the last one didn't stick was nothing to do with these but because it was chromosomally abnormal. I know if and when I am in your situation I will be a gibbering wreck so appreciate this may not be very helpful but I really think this is very likely the case and that there is no reason beany will not stick this time round.

MelonMelon · 11/04/2015 23:51

Ooooof I'm feeling fuzzy after sharing a bottle of vino with DH. Great prep for my first ever run. To those that asked yes I'm doing the couch to 5k and no DH doesn't have a fracture just knackered foot, knee and thigh from over use!

I am going to pound this AF out of me, by running and Errrm the other fing.

Welcome to the newbies Smile

ibeka · 11/04/2015 23:56

Juney I can't seem to add myself to the stats. Should I be able to? Or can you add me? 32, no.1, cycle 3(ish), no idea about OTD.

purdiepie · 12/04/2015 00:04

Transgender hadn't been invented when I was a tot. It was called 'being a tomboy' and required very little surgery. I don't know whether to love or hate Louis Thorax. He just seems so damned bewildered all the time, not to mention condescending.

DizzyN I love reading your posts and wish they were more frequent. If I run three times a week will I lose belly fat?

I hope my dad has remembered the 'unusual' plant sale tomorrow. It's his last night with gold-digging gypsy scrote tonight so no doubt he's skint Hmm

5ml of spunk tonight. Just sayin'...

purdiepie · 12/04/2015 00:06

Lots of 'tonights' in that last post. Soz.

juneybean · 12/04/2015 00:14

ibeka I can add you tomorrow (have hopped into bed)

5 ml Envy

Nomio230 · 12/04/2015 00:15

5ml sounds pretty good, Your Majesty.

I asked DH the other day if he would do it in a pot, so I could see how much comes out. He told me at least 50ml every time because he is amazing. Hmm

No self esteem issues there then!

woodpigeon123 · 12/04/2015 00:15

sparkly!! And tessie!!

So exciting! Thrilled to bits for you both xxxx

TwinkleStars15 · 12/04/2015 00:16

Thanks for making me feel better ibeka Flowers

I think children have enough to contend with in this day and age; I see children on a daily/weekly basis who have so much shit to deal with. Being called James when you're a girl, North West, Bear Blue, come on guys! Seriously?

Nomio230 · 12/04/2015 00:19

I don't think young children should be given the label transgender just because they feel different, or like to play with different toys. Lots of children go through these phases and grow out of them, however if they are surrounded by adults constantly telling them that they are transgender, then it may well become a self fulfilling prophecy.

frogbubbles · 12/04/2015 00:23

I felt maybe a few if the parents might have been quick to label, but then on the flip side if you know, you know and if you can stop the changes before it happens then do what is best for your child regardless of what anyone else thinks. But hey that's just my thoughts and were all different and deal with stuff different.

I love Lou I think his geeky awkward appearance is endearing I clearly have a crush on Louis Theroux, in fact I have a bit of hankering for any bespectacled geeky looking chaps

Pixa · 12/04/2015 00:37

I like him too, although there are times and places for his condescension - I think he has to do it sometimes to provoke reactions. I have watched a lot of his stuff now.

This is one of Louis' comments and it was quoted on the gender speak website. I think it's a really fitting and apt quote. â??The choice to transition involves the possibility of social rejection and a lifetime of commitment to medication, but it is also the chance to exercise the most fundamental right we have â?? The right to be ourselves. In the end the hardest part of the challenge may be knowing who it is we really are.â??

I also think medically and scientifically we are in a wonderful place to be able to enable those changes if needed. Even if we don't have age quite figures out yet, nor the reproductive side of it

Pixa · 12/04/2015 00:40

Just reread the first line of my last post and I don't think it came across how I wanted it to. I don't mean that he should be condescending or have the right to be condescending, just that he does it to provoke reaction.

Yay for all the newbies, glad to see that HMPurdie has laid our the rules regarding the correct terms of address Grin May your journeys be incredibly short!

I watched Louis and DH and I came close to calling off TTC over our differing opinions! Thankfully I have now brought him round to my way of thinking . He didn't realise that the latest evidence shows that gender dysmorphia is caused by what happens in the womb and is therefore not a choice.

Obviously there will be some children for whom wanting to dress and act like the opposite sex is a phase but I think that if a child still feels like that as they hit puberty then they should be allowed hormone treatment. As the doctor explained for those children who don't receive treatment the suicide risk is so high it kind of outweighs the risk of the child having got it wrong. My understanding is that the hormone treatment is reversible also.

Oysterbabe · 12/04/2015 07:36

Nice chart woodpigeon. Implantation dip?

spinningirl10 · 12/04/2015 07:37

Morning Smile

Welcome Twinkle, wow your gp is fab! You'll have us all moving to your house to be able to see him and get testsSmile

Purdey, she really was a psycho. She spent all his morning while he was in hospital, didn't go to visit him in 8 months and sent him and his son threatening letters. Her son was at the funeral having worked with Uncle for years. He was lovely and had some great stories about Uncle.

Anyway enough funeral talk. This morning my temp has dipped to just above the cover line. I was woken by dp at 5am but I do think af will arrive todayHmm Think I'll go to Boots and get my syringes ready for AI.

Night, how are you feeling today? Who else is due to test?

Sparkly, I'm sure you're trying not to think too far ahead but what is your edd?

Anyone doing anything nice today? Ds is with his Dad until 5pm. I can't wait to see him and have a big cuddleSmile

nightandthelight · 12/04/2015 07:39

Sorry about temp dip spinning :(

Have decided not to test until AF is late according to its latest range (so Wednesday) although like you my stomach feels as though she may arrive today which is the most common CD for her to arrive :(

nightandthelight · 12/04/2015 07:40

Today I am going for a run, making DH's birthday cake and taking him out for dinner :)

spinningirl10 · 12/04/2015 07:40

Wood, that could be an implantation dip. Do you look at 'charts like mine' on FF. Great time wasterSmile

spinningirl10 · 12/04/2015 07:41

Ah Night, that sounds like a nice day. Happy Birthday to Mr.NightSmile

auxiliaryauroch · 12/04/2015 07:42
