Ttc and still breastfeeding? Thread #3: Pull up a chair for some support from others on the journey!

Yes, we know all about how emotional and hard it can be! All the pros and cons, all about missing Aunty Flo's and wtf cycles with no ovulation, all about children being cute and pointy. No matter if you are five months or twenty months down the breastfeeding timeline, if you're ttc again, this is the thread to join! Welcome! Easter Smile

Hi you lot, can I join?

DS 29 months, AF returned last month for the first time (!), DS only feeds at night nowadays but co-sleeping most of the night. I haven't been using any contraception since DS was born so you could say I've been TTC for over 2 years...

I've bought a new Clearblue digital monitor so I'll start that this month! I have horrendously sore boobs just after ovulation until my period, which is hellish with the bfeeding.

Looking to pick up some tips/support :)

YokoUhOh · 04/04/2015 20:33

(apologies for dashing any hopes with my ridiculously long breastfeeding infertility!)

Duchess007 · 04/04/2015 22:32

Welcome Yoko Grin Congrats on getting AF back.

CD39 tomorrow for me. Felt a bit car sick earlier when out and about and allowed myself a glimmer of hope Blush Will most likely wake to AF tomorrow morning now! Sod's Law!

Hope you all have a nice Easter tomorrow if you're celebrating. It's ok to eat all of DD's Easter eggs until she's old enough to know what she's missing, right?! Wink

AvaAmulet · 04/04/2015 23:53

Thanks Eggs! It's weird, like I can't win - I feel guilty for denying her the boob, and I feel equally guilty for not being able to provide her with a sibling just yet ...Easter Hmm... It's hard to reason with my almost 2 year old DD that if she keeps having as much boob as she wants she'll be waiting a looooong time for 'Kate' (no one knows where that name has come from, but she's adamant, lol) Easter Blush

Welcome Yoko! I wish someone had warned me about breastfeeding infertility at the start of this journey - I wouldn't have had it any other way, as I do believe that everything happens for a reason, but at least I'd have been prepared ... I was sooo naive thinking DC #2 would be as easy to conceive as DD - it's 18 months for us of ttc now Hmm we co-sleep too...

Feel like I've been such a Debbie Downer on here today Sad promise I'll perk right back up just as soon as AF leaves Wink !

Good luck to everyone in the 2ww!x

AvaAmulet · 04/04/2015 23:57

Gosh Duchess, DEFINITELY indulge in Easter Eggs! We have a duty! In doing so we are being such good Mamas, protecting our lo's from the amazing terrible thing that is chocolate lol Easter Wink

peardrop2 · 05/04/2015 07:06

Oh dam it I forgot to take my temperature as soon as I woke. This is hard to achieve at 6am when you're half asleep Confused

Mumof1sofar · 05/04/2015 07:53

Morning all & happy easter.

I've definitely read something about co sleeping affecting fertility, can't remember the details though.

Cd18 & 8th day of flashing smiley for me today ConfusedConfused My body is obviously trying to ovulate but don't think it's quite managing it!Hmm

YokoUhOh · 05/04/2015 07:58

ava yes I had no idea - my mum always told me I'd fall pregnant even if breastfeeding (I was 10 mo when DB was conceived). I'm pretty sure it's the co-sleeping that's responsible as I was in my own room from early doors. Ah, well, fx everyone and Happy Easter [bgrin]

YokoUhOh · 05/04/2015 08:00

Oops Easter Grin

peardrop2 · 05/04/2015 08:42

Hello to all the newbies. Sorry I can't keep up anymore and I get very confused when someone says hello and then disappears. I've been on here too long to remember newbies too Blush

I think a lot of us were tricked in thinking that we could bf and conceive as so many women say it happens. I now understand why my mum only bf for 6 months per child so she could have more children!

YokoUhOh · 05/04/2015 09:02

I just think it's a really effective form of contraception if done 'properly' alongside co-sleeping. It was exactly 3 years for me without a period (from BFP in March 2012 to AF #1 in March 2015!)

peardrop2 · 05/04/2015 09:10

Wow Yoko that is a really long time! I didn't co-sleep or demand feed and AF returned at 14 months for me. I bf up until 22 months.

peardrop2 · 05/04/2015 09:12

Mumofone - I feel your frustration Hmm sounds like my frustrating cycle last month Hmm Are you temping? If not I think you should consider next month if you don't get your BFP. I'm not convinced i ovulated last month even though I got a surge.

peardrop2 · 05/04/2015 09:19

You also hear of ladies who fall pregnant and still have their AF. This was my mum. Madness! She had AF up until 6 months missing most of her pregnancy...her third child too!

Mumof1sofar · 05/04/2015 10:07

Thanks pear- yes I remember you got something like 9 flashing smileys before your surge didn't you? Did you ovulate in the end? Not convinced I will.

I don't know anything about temping - please could someone explain it to me?

Forgot to say, welcome newbies Smile

Mumof1sofar · 05/04/2015 10:08

Sorry just re-read re your ovulation last month pear.

YokoUhOh · 05/04/2015 10:27

Pretty sure if I hadn't put my foot down re: daytime feeds I'd still be waiting! I work 4 days but DS was still on the boob constantly (like a newborn) at 18 months...

Swannykazoo · 05/04/2015 11:06

Hiya
TTC #2
DS 15 months
No AF yet
BF morning, noon, to sleep, and ALL NIGHT
Not starting any temps or that sort of mischief as think I'm a looong way away from fertility. Gone from size 16 to size 10 due to cmpa baby and strict dairy and nut avoidance so may have to eat myself fertile Biscuit
Due to plough through Taking Charge of Your Fertility which arrived yesterday so hopefully I'll be in a better position to spot when fertility mght be returning

peardrop2 · 05/04/2015 11:43

Mumofone - In March I had 14 days of high and then two peaks and then 1 high. That says to me that my body was desperately trying to ovulate but something went wrong somewhere Sad

auxiliaryauroch · 05/04/2015 12:38

Easter Envy of puggle and her imposed baby diet! But in a good and sympathetic way. I lost all my baby weight in a blink of an eye one week after giving birth and was well on my way thanks to bfing to losing more, then was bed bound very suddenly for a couple of months and all the momentum stopped. So only slightly lighter than before pregnancy. Not a big deal in my world but I can't deny it would have been nice to go from a size 16 (which I am now) to a size 12 (which is my basic normal size). sort of counted on the bfing diet! Well, guess it is what it was. Easter Hmm

AvaAmulet · 05/04/2015 12:41

Pear, Don't beat yourself up about forgetting to take your temps this morning - it took me a few days to get into the routine, now it's second nature.... And on that note, my temps have risen today.... Stupid temps, they're supposed to drop at AF... And there I was singing the praises of temping...hmm Easter Angry

Happy Easter everyone x Easter Smile

auxiliaryauroch · 05/04/2015 13:00

ava my temps are a nightmare and although I value them I do know that the constant night waking with dc messes them up. Massive temp dip today at 6dpo so probably my lp crashing in again. However, maybe just a weird reading again due to inconsistent sleep patters. Maybe yesterday's was the weird one because of inconsistent sleep patterns? Maybe they are all weird the most likely scenario!

Am of course secretly hoping it is implantation instead but I know it is very very unlikely to be based on last three cycles.

auxiliaryauroch · 05/04/2015 13:00

Oh above message for ava and pear! Easter Blush

AvaAmulet · 05/04/2015 13:46

Aux, I hear ya re night waking - I do try to get at least 4 hours of undisturbed sleep prior to taking temps but it's so difficult as I find I'm repositioning DD or tucking her legs back under the duvet on autopilot while I'm asleep... Easter Hmm

I got my hopes up when my temp dip at 8 dpo coincided with lower abdomen cramping - part of me believed it could be implantation, and I prayed my temps would shoot up again at 9 dpo to confirm this. They did not Sad .... they have remained above my cover line but still low (until today's wtf temp increase Easter Confused)

Fx your temp shoots up tomorrow though Easter Wink x

Mumof1sofar · 05/04/2015 15:23

Please someone explain the basics of temping to me Smile
