TTC with PCOS

Are there any other ladies out there trying to conceive with PCOS? Or any success stories of conceiving with PCOS?

We've been ttc and off of bc since August. Since then I've been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I am overweight, especially for my height as I'm only short - but am trying to lose the weight. I'm almost at a 10% weight loss since getting the PCOS diagnosis in November 14. I haven't had any periods since coming off of bc in August 14, apart from what I'm guessing was a withdrawal bleed (that happened pretty much straight away - end of August) and a couple of very light bleeds that lasted no longer than a day.

I'm just feeling all a bit fed up now and think I need to hear from others that are either in a similar boat or have been able to have healthy normal pregnancies despite the PCOS.

ponty you were absolutely right - TSH is supposed to be 1.5 ideally to conceive so mine is fine. I'd got confused with something else like I expected Smile Another good appointment with the doctor today. Said I'm a bit anaemic so gave me super-strength iron tablets because I don't eat meat, and also lacking in vitamin D so gave me a double dose of it in an injection. Very long needle in my backside! Grin Says from the test results my eggs are of a good quality but I have lazy ovaries (typical) but the extra metformin should help that. He says he expects to see my ovulation returning after about 4 weeks. Fingers crossed!

Gin that sounds very promising! Fingers crossed for you that you've ovulated!

PontyGirl · 05/04/2015 12:58

that all sounds really good ab, sounds like it won't be long until you're well on your way to making that baby!

AbFab86 · 05/04/2015 13:13

I hope so Grin Can't wait till this thread starts getting some BFPs! Come on ladies!

PontyGirl · 05/04/2015 15:40

yes please!!

have read a lot today about studies where inositol was given with folic acid with some great results for pcosers so am going to get back on the folic acid Blush I know I should be taking it but I forget!

AbFab86 · 05/04/2015 18:16

Oh that's encouraging! I'm about half way through a bottle of inositol pills so I'll keep at it Smile

PontyGirl · 05/04/2015 19:36

what dosage are you on? I have the powder

AbFab86 · 05/04/2015 19:41

The tablets have 1000mg of myo-inositol, 25mg of D-Chiro inositol and 200mcg of folic acid. I take 2 a day. No idea what the difference is between the 2 types of inositol in it?

PontyGirl · 05/04/2015 20:00

DCI is supposed to be the most effective of the two, but only because it is more effective at a lower dose than normal inositol. I take 1 teaspoon a day of the powder

PontyGirl · 05/04/2015 20:01

basically, what you're taking sounds like the best thing you could be taking! noticed any differences at all?

AbFab86 · 05/04/2015 20:59

Nothing noticeable at the moment, but it's difficult to tell whether the decrease in insulin resistance is down to that or the increased metformin (or both). I'm waiting for AF now I've taken a course of progesterone and if/when that's done I'll be testing with OPKs fanatically to see if I get an LH surge at any point.

In my infinite wisdom though, I've decided it doesn't matter if it takes a couple of months to kick my cycles into gear. If any of us got pregnant now, we'd have babies around xmas/new year. Nobody wants a birthday around xmas. So it's cool. I'm chilled. Honestly.

I like your thinking Grin yep, no pressure here...

Ginfizz90 · 05/04/2015 23:48

Lol SmileSmileSmile

PontyGirl · 06/04/2015 08:07

I had a temp drop to 36 yesterday and now on 36.4 today which looks like a massive spike... either ovulation or my body taking the piss! we shall see tomorrow...

Ginfizz90 · 06/04/2015 11:04

Ponty that's great! Do you have any other signs? Mine is still elevated at 36.9!! I don't really have signs apart from constant lower back ache. Not much cm to report either if I'm honest. I read online if you don't have regular cycles bbt isn't recommended!! What the hell is for ppl with pcos?

PontyGirl · 06/04/2015 14:39

no cm for me either! I'm sticking with the mindset that it could be a fluke and anything better than that is a bonus!

I read that too, but I disagree with it. I think they say it because it can be discouraging (when you are temping for 80 days or something), but it worked for me the first time so I'm sticking with it!

AbFab86 · 06/04/2015 17:46

Fingers crossed ponty that it's a proper shift! Have you had any sort of ovulation pain? My right ovary has been really painful today but I'm not expecting to ovulate - I've just finished a course of progesterone! Argh why can't we have a little monitor built in to our skin that lets us know what's going on?!

PontyGirl · 06/04/2015 19:46

I thought I had some ovulation pain but I don't want to get too excited just in case I wake tomorrow and it was just a blip!

AbFab86 · 06/04/2015 19:49

Just thinking - I know OPKs don't work for us because we always have LH in our system, but I presume they'd still show a surge if we happened to have one? Like usually on my ICs I get a faint line, so I ignore that, but if I actually was about to ovulate it should go dark, right?

PinkParsnips · 06/04/2015 20:46

OPKs worked for me although the fancy machine thing (cant remember the name!) didn't.
BBT also worked.

eskimolaura · 06/04/2015 21:28

Hello ladies, just checking in. Nothing to report, except that I'm going to start the progesterone pills tomorrow. Hope everyone has a lovely long Easter weekend. Should we do stats, like the other threads? If we're going to be in this for the long haul, it might be nice? What d'ya reck? Of course, I may not have PCOS, but I think I'd like to stay anyway, if you'll have me! I think not having AF for 5 months might qualify me to stay eh? x x

PontyGirl · 06/04/2015 21:45

Eskimo sounds like a good idea! we're all in the same boat, of course you are more than welcome! Smile

Ginfizz90 · 06/04/2015 22:48

Hi ladies, just checking in. Been working all easter absolutely shattered. Few days off now which will be nice! I know what you mean about being a blip! I've had high temps for three days and still can't believe it. Does this mean I definatley have ovulated?

AbFab86 · 07/04/2015 06:27

Gin it's looking likely! Did you DTD at the right time? How exciting Smile

Eskimo I think that's allowed! I'd be happy to do a table if everyone wants to give me their stats. I don't think we need to list what cycle we're on, unless we fancy a laugh! Perhaps list what medication/supplements we're on instead?

PontyGirl · 07/04/2015 07:29

pontygirl - 25, TTC #2, on inositol

PontyGirl · 07/04/2015 07:32

gin sounds good!! I have had my second high temp (36.5) but still assuming nothing until tomorrow... and even then, not even until it's obvious! DTD and like 2am (Blush ) and then woke up and saw the temp dip, so I might have caught it right if it is ov.

don't know what to think really. after having to force a bleed because not having a period for three months, I'm finding it hard to believe I could've ovulated!
