TTC with PCOS

Ainat266 · 15/03/2015 14:25

Are there any other ladies out there trying to conceive with PCOS? Or any success stories of conceiving with PCOS?

We've been ttc and off of bc since August. Since then I've been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I am overweight, especially for my height as I'm only short - but am trying to lose the weight. I'm almost at a 10% weight loss since getting the PCOS diagnosis in November 14. I haven't had any periods since coming off of bc in August 14, apart from what I'm guessing was a withdrawal bleed (that happened pretty much straight away - end of August) and a couple of very light bleeds that lasted no longer than a day.

I'm just feeling all a bit fed up now and think I need to hear from others that are either in a similar boat or have been able to have healthy normal pregnancies despite the PCOS.

Haha, thanks Ab. It is quite ridiculous isn't it?! We have to laugh about it though, don't we? DH and I have had some quite funny conversations; the other day, we had a cuddle and then he said 'shall I just squeeze you until blood comes out? Shock A few weeks ago, I was putting in a load of red washing and thought I might have dropped a sock, so I shouted to DH 'Have I dropped anything red?' and he shouted back 'Erm, not for a while...' Wink

Sigh... tragic ain't it?

xx

morning everyone! my brain is mush this morning so I can't remember all the names here (I'm on the app so can't scroll)

It is crushing some days that this whole TTC process isn't exactly a normal one (temping, meds, no sodding period) and even though I've got my beautiful DD who is an absolute miracle to me, I catch myself feeling shit about it all some days. But I know I'm fortunate to have her and if she's all I get to have, than that's more than I could have ever wished for. So I'm trying to keep it all in perspective.

I read some of these messages and it took me back to before I got pregnant and, god, I remember how low I got. it does consume. I think its funny that the one month everything went right I wasn't actually thinking about it.

honestly though - I know many people in RL with PCOS and all of them have at least one child. I'm not exaggerating either - every single one has a child. on that note, happy friday ! Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine

(I'm still taking the inositol, I've not noticed a change but we'll see if my cycle is any shorter)

Hey everyone, hope you're having a nice long weekend. I picked up a book yesterday called "the impatient woman's guide to getting pregnant". It's quite a funny look at the whole ttc journey with lots of useful advice (so far). I'd recommend it for a light, distracting read!

Olusha · 03/04/2015 22:45

eskimolaura hi there, just checked my Agnus Castus is 1000 mg. I got it on Amazon. On the packaging says take 1 to 2 tablets daily. I am talking 1 for the last 4 weeks but no results so far.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone!!Easter Biscuit

eskimolaura · 03/04/2015 22:58

Ah Olusha Is it Nature's Aid? It's the same as mine. I'm taking 2 a day and same- nothing yet. x x x

Ginfizz90 · 04/04/2015 10:35

I have been taking two a day for just over a week and nothing to report. I also started inositol on Thursday.

Have been doing my temps on and off for last week or so and just got highest reading of 36.9. Not sure if it's means anything but usually nine were around 36.2 and 36.5

PontyGirl · 04/04/2015 11:07

could be ovulation gin! what app do you use, if any?

Ginfizz90 · 04/04/2015 13:14

I use the ovia app ponty!

I guess there is always a chance- don't feel like it though.
I haven't really been looking much into temps until this morn and thought it was quite high. Might start paying more attention to them now. Especially if I eventually get given clomid

PontyGirl · 04/04/2015 14:22

you never know! fingers crossed it is. I'm on cd19 and just sticking around 36.2...

Ginfizz90 · 04/04/2015 15:38

I need 3 days at this temp to confirm ov. I wish I did it the last few days now. Going to do it everyday now, I suppose it could just be a fluke but when I did it last week it was 36.2 and then 36.5 it could have already been 38.9 yesterday and day before! Argh!! Annoying. Also I had two glasses of wine last night, that could have made it rise couldn't it?

PontyGirl · 04/04/2015 17:06

I'm not sure about the drinking, have you googled it?

Ginfizz90 · 04/04/2015 18:31

I think it can by the looks of things but some people notice no difference

AbFab86 · 04/04/2015 18:36

Grin eskimo that's hilarious! You're right, we definitely do have to laugh.

Does anyone regularly have a temperature below 36? Mine is usually 35.3-35.8. Just thinking that might be another symptom of an underactive thyroid? That said, I never actually feel cold. Usually the exact opposite.

Has anyone tried soy isoflavones? I've read about them a little bit on here and it seems like a natural version of clomid. Not sure if I can get hold of it over here but think I need to do some reading up first. If anyone has any experience of it I'd love to hear Smile

PontyGirl · 04/04/2015 19:40

funny you should say that ab, I was looking at my old charts before I had DD and I was regularly 35 point something. now I don't go below 36 and I'm on thyroxine for hypothyroidism so perhaps? they wouldn't treat me before I was pregnant because I was in normal limits (4!) but when I was pregnant this was deemed too high. the optimum tsh result is 1 apparently

PontyGirl · 04/04/2015 19:41

also I never actually feel cold but my hands and feet are cold for others to touch

AbFab86 · 04/04/2015 20:02

That's interesting ponty. My TSH is 1.27 but I think my endocrinologist said it should be around 4 to conceive. He also said non-endocrinologists would say it is fine around 2. I think. He reeled off a lot of letters and numbers though so I may have got that mixed up Grin I'm seeing him tomorrow though so I can find out.

Ginfizz90 · 04/04/2015 21:47

Love the idea of temping but I work
Shifts and sometimes have to get up at 3am! Don't fancy setting my alarm for that time to take a temp when I'm not working lolShock

PontyGirl · 04/04/2015 21:48

I am sure optimum levels for TTC is between 1-2. let me know what they say!

PontyGirl · 04/04/2015 21:49

give it a try gin!

Ginfizz90 · 04/04/2015 22:00

Does it have to be the same time every morning??

Ginfizz90 · 04/04/2015 22:02

Does it have to be the same time every morning??

PontyGirl · 05/04/2015 07:20

roughly, but I don't wake up the same time every morning due to DD. mine are usually within a half hour frame. if I were you I would start recording anyway

Ginfizz90 · 05/04/2015 10:26

Did my temp again this morning 36.8

Also found a week of temps I did this time last month and they were 36.5 and 36.6 so looks like I could be in the lutheal phase!!! Either that or i am just hotter lol

PontyGirl · 05/04/2015 12:36

yay exciting! so what cycle day were you on when you ovulated?
