TTC with PCOS

Ainat266 · 15/03/2015 14:25

Are there any other ladies out there trying to conceive with PCOS? Or any success stories of conceiving with PCOS?

We've been ttc and off of bc since August. Since then I've been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I am overweight, especially for my height as I'm only short - but am trying to lose the weight. I'm almost at a 10% weight loss since getting the PCOS diagnosis in November 14. I haven't had any periods since coming off of bc in August 14, apart from what I'm guessing was a withdrawal bleed (that happened pretty much straight away - end of August) and a couple of very light bleeds that lasted no longer than a day.

I'm just feeling all a bit fed up now and think I need to hear from others that are either in a similar boat or have been able to have healthy normal pregnancies despite the PCOS.

Rufus200, 33, TTC#1, cycle 4, on inositol

Ginfizz90 · 07/04/2015 09:32

Gin 25 #1 inositol, Angus castus and multi vits.

FF hasn't said I've ovulatedConfused probably because loads of missing days it's not accurate. Will keep going with it now though. Dr appointment on Thursday eeek

PontyGirl · 07/04/2015 09:45

hi Rufus!

gin maybe it will change tomorrow? tomorrow will be my third day of high temps so I'll let you know if it says I've ovulated

PontyGirl · 07/04/2015 09:54

I've just realised that ff will let you put temps in for tomorrow etc so it may be worth doing that and seeing if it comes up with a coverline gin

eskimolaura · 07/04/2015 10:00

Grin### eskimolaura, 32, TTC#1 on Norethisterone for 10 days.###

As you can see, I started the prog pills today. Sad

Ginfizz90 · 07/04/2015 10:13

I tried that ponty and it still doesn't say it! How strange- oh well will just have to wait and see now.
Eskimo good luck with the pills second time lucky hopefully it will get you back into motion! I will be demanding some on Thursday along with a test to see if I'm ovulating and a referral! I can't totally do that right???

eskimolaura · 07/04/2015 10:19

Definitely Gin Don't take no for an answer! I'm only cross that I have to start them because I was hoping that something was going to happen by itself. As I was in exactly the same situation in January, I can't help but feel that I'm taking a step backwards. I need to get myself out of that mindset and think that everyday is a step closer to my baby! x x x

AbFab86 · 07/04/2015 10:44

Definitely be demanding gin!

Thanks for the stats ladies, I'll put them together when I get home.

I finished my progesterone 4 days ago and have had no sign of anything happening. Until now. When I happen to be spending the day sunbathing at the beach. My body hates meConfused

Ginfizz90 · 07/04/2015 10:47

I feel the same, like a failure almost. I just can't face it anymore it's all I think about 24/7!! Does anybody know the timescales of a referral? And what happens at the gynae once you get there?

RoseBud2015 · 07/04/2015 11:06

Hi Ladies!
I recognise a few of you (Hi Gin and Rufus) from another thread but think I should probably join you here, as you seem to be going through very similar problems to me.

My story: Diagnosed with PCOS at 15 years old, told to prepare myself to never have children because it was so severe Started TTC in September at 30 years old. In that time had a withdrawal bleed and 2 AFs (after 60 and 67 day cycles). Well today is cd71 and STILL no bloody AF!!! Angry

I had an ultrasound scan and dildocam in Feb confirming PCOS and "absolutely no signs of ov". I have also been having weekly blood tests throughout this VERY LONG cycle (that's 10 blood tests so far!) Blood tests also show no ov Sad. I have been referred to the fertility clinic but that was 10 weeks ago and still no letter with an appointment time. I am starting to give up hope Sad. I know its not long TTC compared to some people but I'm not even off the starting marks yet! 7 months and no ov, so basically haven't even started ttc yet really- I am so fed up!

I am considering starting inositol or soy, but I don't want to make things worse or do something that delays things further when I do eventually get an appointment for the fertility clinic.

I was on the ttc buses end of 2014 and beginning of 2015 but found them to depressing when I wasn't ov'ing.

It's comforting to know you ladies are going through similar things- can I join? [happy]

RoseBud2015 · 07/04/2015 11:10

So I suppose my stats would be:

#############

Rosebud2015, 30, ttc #1, cycle 3 but no ov to date.

Msr12 · 07/04/2015 11:37

Hey everyone,

Joining you on this thread as had an ultrasound scan this morning which apparently suggests pcos ??

Came to this thread from the no period thread (hi eskimo and ginfizz!) as haven't had a period since the withdrawal bleed after coming off the pill in August last year. I'm 30 (31 next month) and ttc #1.

Feel really crap at the min. Though I have to admit I laughed at the "dildocam" comment below.

I've got an app with my gp next week to go through to scan results but not really sure what happens from here. I think she will refer me to a gynaecologist but does that mean fertility treatments can start now or do I still have to wait for a year?

PontyGirl · 07/04/2015 12:05

Grin sorry ab had to smile at that... our bodies can be such arseholes!! better than it not turning up at all though !

hiiiii msr and rosebud sorry you're here but also these threads are often really good for info and trying different things - it's from this thread that I ordered inositol and I may have ovulated for the first time in months. I would say to defo give it a go - everything I've read suggests it is simply putting back into our bodies something we get rid of too quickly. I've not read anything about it making cycles even longer. worth a go I think!!

PontyGirl · 07/04/2015 12:06

msr when I was at the same stage as you before I got pregnant with DD, I was due to go on clomid as soon as I had reached that horrible year milestone, so hopefully things will start moving for you soon Thanks

Ginfizz90 · 07/04/2015 12:10

Hi ladies and welcome!! Lots of support on here for everyone.

msr I think Eskimo may have already been referred so she may be able to shed some light on time scales. Its stressful times but we must keep positive.

AbFab86 · 07/04/2015 12:17

Hello msr and rosebud! Sorry your had to join us, but nice to have you here Smile

I know just what you mean about feeling like a failure. It's supposed to be the most natural thing for humans to do. I'm getting to the stage where I'm even jealous of people who aren't managing to conceive but have normal cycles. At least they have a vague shot at it every month. I suppose though, for us, once we ovulate there should hopefully be nothing else standing in our way.

I'm feeling a lot of hatred towards my ovaries at the moment. The doctor said my blood results showed I had good healthy eggs. Fat load of good that is though with bastard ovaries keeping for themselves.

RoseBud2015 · 07/04/2015 12:29

Thanks for the welcome all!
After weeks of consideration, I've taken the plunge and ordered inositol now. Thanks for the push Ponty! Grin

Gin and Msr My GP referred me to fertility clinic after 6 months, due to PCOS already being diagnosed. However 10/11 weeks later, I'm still waiting for my first appointment. However in the meantime the GP has done a lot of the initial tests and scans to get the ball rolling.

However I imagine that different areas have different waiting times and processes.

Abfab- I'm another one that feels like a failure! Especially when DH's ex bitch fell pregnant first time with both of his DDs Envy. I have definite ovary envy!

PontyGirl · 07/04/2015 13:30

ab Grin @ bastard ovaries. that is good news though, that your eggs are healthy! half the battle won.

rosebud I'm glad you've ordered it! lots of studies online to look at too! they seem to suggest taking it with folic acid is a must so get on that too.

I must say, good for the women who conceive by looking at their other halves... but not a day goes by that I don't look at my little miracle and thank god for her. she feels so precious to me. obviously I know other parents who don't struggle love their kids to death, but every day I am reminded to be damn grateful and every day me and DH say "can you believe she's here?!"

bucketfullofwater · 07/04/2015 18:56

Hi, another one hopping over from the no period thread.

I'm 27, came off the pill last summer and have had nothing in the way of ovulation or periods since. Doctor recently diagonsed PCOS after scans and blood tests, now awaiting a referral letter to gynaecologist.

So nice to be able to chat to other people going through the same thing (and who understand the rollercoaster of emotions!)

PopcornPip · 07/04/2015 21:52

Hey ladies, hope you are well. Welcome rose, bucket and everyone else who's joined our little band of pcosers.
I feel like AF is on its way, I've had sore boobs for days Sad. I know I should be grateful but it's driving me up the wall.

Rufus200 · 07/04/2015 23:27

I went to the Dr today and was given Clomid, taken my 1st pill on cd 5 but been told to only take it for 3 days then stop as I'm too late in the cycle. Not sure about that as everywhere on the internet says you can do a cycle from days 5-9!

Had all blds repeated to check if any change from a year ago, will get results next week when being scanned to check if Clomid has produced any follicles.

Dr was pleased I was on Inositol and said therefore I didn't need metformin! Was told I need to cut sugar out of my diet otherwise the inositol would be fighting a losing battle.

Also was given 3 IVF clinic to choose from as my Dr thinks that I should only try for a few more months before much more aggressive tactics! I wasn't expecting that SO soon! Quite a lot of my bloods done today were for preparation of IVF. Find the whole idea very scary for someone who only started TTC in Jan! This is a private Dr not NHS.

AbFab86 · 08/04/2015 07:15

Wow Rufus that's definitely quick! And exciting, if a bit overwhelming. I hope the clomid works for you. I've read lots of success stories about it. Keep us updated!

I'm thinking if nothing happens in the weeks following this AF I will ask for clomid. I'm on private health too over here, so hopefully it'll be quite quick. Only problem is I know I'll need close monitoring if I did happen to get pregnant with it and I'll be away from home and in the UK for 6 weeks from the start of July. I know I'll be able to be monitored in the UK, but perhaps my doctor(s) will want me to stick with them? But then the population here is very transient so they're probably used to people moving around during treatment.

PontyGirl · 08/04/2015 08:03

morning all and welcome bucket Smile

seem to have ovulated, 3 days of high temps now. can't really believe it. most people get giddy about bfps (obviously) but just ovulating is a big deal in our house! not going to get excited over it, just feeling encouraged.

have a lovely day ladies Thanks

Ginfizz90 · 08/04/2015 10:55

Yay ponty!!!! Wahooo you laid an egg!! I think I may have too, 3 days off high temps and now down a little but not as low as my cover line. Do you think that means I have??? I'm not sure it's true
