TTC with PCOS

Ainat266 · 15/03/2015 14:25

Are there any other ladies out there trying to conceive with PCOS? Or any success stories of conceiving with PCOS?

We've been ttc and off of bc since August. Since then I've been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I am overweight, especially for my height as I'm only short - but am trying to lose the weight. I'm almost at a 10% weight loss since getting the PCOS diagnosis in November 14. I haven't had any periods since coming off of bc in August 14, apart from what I'm guessing was a withdrawal bleed (that happened pretty much straight away - end of August) and a couple of very light bleeds that lasted no longer than a day.

I'm just feeling all a bit fed up now and think I need to hear from others that are either in a similar boat or have been able to have healthy normal pregnancies despite the PCOS.

pebbles I'm so sorry about the left tube. I really hope you hear good news about the right one. All fingers and toes crossed for you Flowers

rosebud our trials and tribulations never end do they it must be hard to be around them. Stay strong. My friends are now planning to host a baby shower for one of our mutual friends and they're expecting me to help out too which makes me think it's rather unfair knowing my history but I'm not saying anything.. Just trying to participate to the extent I can

Cd 3 today. Second cycle of clomid started last night. Very heavy period. You know how I kept saying I never had very obvious symptoms under clomid. Well PMS was so extreme! I haven't had such symptoms since I was a teen.

Pebbles086 · 10/06/2015 16:44

Thanks ladies, pls all keep your fingers crossed for my poor R tube!!! I know I'll get there in the end xxx
I really feel for all of us, if it's not hormones, its AF or dealing with other people's insensitive attitudes! Flowers for everyone and Cake xxxx

soontobemrslizzy · 10/06/2015 16:54

Thanks all for the welcome!

Battenburg, I hope you get your results quickly and that they are as positive as they can be!

Rosebud, I'm 27. We haven't started officially yet - we are getting married in two months and planning to start then (am I still allowed to join?). No meds yet, although if I do have PCOS, the doctor said I should think about Clomid. No children yet (except the 250 I teach!).

AbFab86 · 10/06/2015 16:58

Welcome soon! Starting to think teaching and PCOS goes hand in hand!

Pebbles I'm crossing everything for your tube! It's great to know though, even if it has to be removed, you can go down the IVF route. The NHS is bloody brilliant.

RoseBud2015 · 10/06/2015 17:12

Oh Soon You are in good company! Loads of us are teachers inc myself! What age do you teach? I teach 16 plus.
Of course it doesn't matter that you haven't started TTC yet... getting yourself fully equipped with all of the knowledge you can is a great idea! X

Cobblestones Are you onto 100mg clomid now or are you still on 50mg? I'm wrecking my brains but can't remember if 50mg worked for you last time?!

Thanks for all your words of encouragement ladies- so glad you all know how I am feeling and aren't judging me for it. I'm soooooo pleased for you Ab and Rufus!!!! Somehow it just feels different when people in RL announce pregnancy! Odd Hmm

Hi everyone, I have chatted with some of you before on the '5 months off the pill but no period...' thread but thought I would hop on over to this one. My situation is that I stopped my pill late last year and have no AF at all since. Had 2 blood tests (normal) and a pelvic ultrasound which showed slightly polycystic ovaries but GP said I dont have PCOS as I dont have any other symptoms. I have been referred to the hospital and although I was expecting to wait ages I have got an appointment next week. Just wondered whether any of you can tell me what I might expect at the first appointment? Also having been waiting waiting waiting for sooo long for AF to come and for things to sort themselves out, we decided to sort of put ttc on hold and have sold our house and I may be having a change of job. In light of all that I would like to rethink ttc after xmas and have a fresh start on things but once I had been referred I wanted to stay in the system. Just wondered whether you know if you can wait to take clomid or any other meds if you are prescribed them or if they want you to take them straight away?
Thanks, and congrats to those on here who have had good news recently :)

Mistletoe any update? Did your sticks arrive?

Pebbles I really hope your tubes are ok xxx

I had another small bleed last night and I've been having cramps this afternoon, my scan is a week today.

soontobemrslizzy · 10/06/2015 19:34

Ain626, I'm so sorry, I didn't see your post. I was going to start but have just been on a trip with 115 year 7s, so didn't take it with me. I was planning to start properly next month. I always thought I was ovulating because I often have had ovulation pain and appropriate cm, but maybe not.

Rosebud, that's really odd - I'm moving and won't be able to teach so then maybe it will go away? ;) I teach secondary Re, 11-18. What do you teach? We were going to wait about a year after the wedding but given the potential of pcos, we maybe need to start sooner! I'm sorry about your work situation, it's really tough when that happens.

Polly, I can't help but I hope they figure it out. I'm still waiting for my ultrasound so don't know what to expect for that!

Ain626 · 10/06/2015 19:45

Mistletoe do you have any updates?

Rufus try not to worry... Hopefully it's all okay. Bleeding is fairly common in early pregnancy. Flowers

Pebbles Flowers

I have no news... Other than temp is still above the cover line. Hopefully it is ovulation, then even if no BFP I at least will have had a much better cycle than the previous one that lasted 9 months!

mistletoeprickles · 11/06/2015 07:59

Just a quick pop in from me this morning, I'll catch up properly later.

Yesterday's test was negative and today's is currently processing. I'm now fairly sure it's a chemical but still no sign of AF

mistletoeprickles · 11/06/2015 08:07

Ok so today's is a very faint positive. I'm so confused Sad

Rufus200 · 11/06/2015 08:10

Mistletoe A positive is a positive! Congrats, hopefully it will get stronger over the next few days!

mistletoeprickles · 11/06/2015 08:14

It been positive, about 3 negatives and then a very faint positive again

battenberg123 · 11/06/2015 09:24

Mistletoe will your doctor do a blood test to check for hcg levels? Hope it sticks!

mistletoeprickles · 11/06/2015 09:26

Thanks batten they said I have to wait until next week Sad

AbFab86 · 11/06/2015 09:34

That's so frustrating mistletoe. Have you tried a first response one yet? Just thinking with your history of taking ages to show up on a test you may need a very sensitive one at the moment. I hope your blood test comes round quickly.

mistletoeprickles · 11/06/2015 09:41

ab I haven't yet purely because I'm trying to leave it as long as possible and wasting Internet cheapies is ok Smile I'm day 29 now and still no AF signs

mistletoeprickles · 11/06/2015 09:41

I lie cd30 sorry

chandelierswinger · 11/06/2015 09:45

Flowers mistletoe It's cruel isn't it? Like you previously, my +ve with my DD didn't come up until day 44 or something ridiculous like that. I had a link somewhere to the hpt levels of hcg ml/miu measurements. If I find it, I'll post it...

chandelierswinger · 11/06/2015 09:46

Oh, and another one in education here Grin ... There's definitely a conspiracy somewhere!!! Wink

soontobemrslizzy · 11/06/2015 09:53

Chandelier, how long did you guys try? I am panicking a bit and thinking if it's going to take years, maybe we should start asap? But I don't know if maybe I'm worrying more than is justified.

chandelierswinger · 11/06/2015 10:02

soontobe Cycle 1 with my first child (fluke, I'm sure); Cycle 7 or 8 (?) with my second (after a diagnosis of secondary sub-fertility and some metformin which didn't agree with me). I was very lucky though, I think, judging by the stories of others. I've just started Cycle 4 TTC#3, but I am 10 years older and at least 1.5 stone heavier than when I first started my family, with PCOS seemingly upping its game against me the second we decided to go for it! I'm not sure if that helps you or not. My original gynae was wonderful and told me to just 'go for it' when the time felt right and, if nothing happened to go back as 'there's so much we can try these days'... Bearing in mind this was over a decade ago, arguably there's even more options now. I know it's easy for me to say, but do try not to stress about it... Stress affects your hormones completely! Flowers When's your wedding?
