TTC with PCOS

Ainat266 · 15/03/2015 14:25

Are there any other ladies out there trying to conceive with PCOS? Or any success stories of conceiving with PCOS?

We've been ttc and off of bc since August. Since then I've been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I am overweight, especially for my height as I'm only short - but am trying to lose the weight. I'm almost at a 10% weight loss since getting the PCOS diagnosis in November 14. I haven't had any periods since coming off of bc in August 14, apart from what I'm guessing was a withdrawal bleed (that happened pretty much straight away - end of August) and a couple of very light bleeds that lasted no longer than a day.

I'm just feeling all a bit fed up now and think I need to hear from others that are either in a similar boat or have been able to have healthy normal pregnancies despite the PCOS.

Shellbell If you got to pg2 of this thread then there are loads of links about Inositol.

VixxFace · 05/06/2015 23:51

Thank you rufusGrin .

Thank you everyone you have given me some hope after a shitty week.

mistletoeprickles · 06/06/2015 08:55

I think AF may be pending. Awful cramps all yesterday evening and this morning. My skin is horrific too Sad

AbFab86 · 06/06/2015 14:30

Mistletoe and Rufus very pleased to hear your test results! I'm keeping everything crossed that your cramps are just random pains. Can empathise with the skin part. Think it's because we're not used to having that much progesterone in our systems!

I did a test this morning for no real reason. BFN of course. I'm only about 9dpo though. Have had a ridiculously stressful week which has just ended with finding my car has been keyed, so I'm thinking any fertilised egg with half a brain wouldn't want to stick around ? Very much looking forward to being away from this sandpit!

mistletoeprickles · 06/06/2015 15:00

Ab any symptoms or are you trying not to spot? I'm doing my best not to stop and convincing myself everything is AF related

Cobblestones · 06/06/2015 15:13

rufus so glad to hear about your HCG results.

POAS'd this morning. cd 28. BFN. Its ok. I was expecting it. I ended up consoling DH as he was disappointed! Men... eh.. he's generally very supportive but everyone has their days I suppose

I'm going to order some ov sticks as I didn't use any this cycle but intend to next cycle. Can someone pls point me towards some affordable stream tests that you were happy with. thkss

Cobblestones · 06/06/2015 15:16

one more thing. my doc had my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) tested as SHBG (one of the other hormones) was high. usually SHBG is lower than normal with PCOS but mine seemed the other way around. so it turns out TSH is elevated. I'm going to get a referral for an endicronologist next. has anyone out there experienced this and knows if it has any impact on ttc/preg? i don't want to google as I'm scared ill find too much to worry about

AbFab86 · 06/06/2015 15:50

Cobblestones I'm not too sure about high TSH but if it means you have an overactive thyroid then it is easily treated. I think low TSH has a negative impact on TTC but not sure about high TSH.

mistletoe yesterday I was having lots of mild pains around my uterus sort of area. My nipples are still waaay more sensitive than usual! Haha it's become a bit of a joke now. I haven't had any cramps yet. I'm going to wait until Tuesday to POAS again. Won't be too stressed if it hasn't worked this time. At least we know the clomid is doing its job. I have a HSG booked for later on in the month so I've got that to look forward to if this month isn't successful Confused

mistletoeprickles · 06/06/2015 16:10

cobble I just brought test strip off eBay, they worked. I think they were £1.99 for 10 and I tested from cd10 onwards and had the peak on cd15.

Ab I was over joyed yesterday to be told the 100mg of clomid had worked. DD kept asking me why I was dancing. Hardest thing was having no one to tell as DP and I haven't told anyone we're ttc. I really hope we've cracked it first time so I can enjoy life a bit without being wrapped up in ttc but if it we haven't onwards to next month. I plan to POAS on Wednesday....If I can wait that long!

AbFab86 · 06/06/2015 17:37

It's a funny feeling isn't it? For 'normal' people they do it every month, so it's no big deal, but it's a huge deal for us. I've only told my mum and my best friend (via messages seeing as she's in the UK). Both of which know how much of a big deal it is so the news was suitably received Smile

I had a dream last night that I POAS and it was positive, then I realised it was an ovulation stick and not a pregnancy one, so got all angry. Thought it might be an omen, hence me POAS-ing this morning Grin It was not...

I should probably wait til Wednesday too really, but I know I'll cave Wink

Pebbles086 · 06/06/2015 19:02

abfab and mistltoe I don't know if I could wait to test, that must be an annoying wait!
At the beginning of the year when my AF decided to dessert me, I spent a small fortune on pregnancy tests, convincing myself I was pregnant and the test were duds until I forked out for a clear blue and the words confirmed other wise! Glad to see you are being positive if it has worked this month, at least the drugs are working and I am sure BFPs are on the horizon.
My DH and I are also not telling anybody, why add to the stress of all this. This is why I love sharing my story with you ladies xx
Have a great weekend and FX for you Smile

PontyGirl · 06/06/2015 20:01

yay for Rufus! fab news Thanks Thanks Thanks

what a lovely update!

I don't even know how long it's been now! I'm okay with it at the moment, I'm quite focussed on losing weight

hello newbies! Wine

PontyGirl · 06/06/2015 20:04

cobblestones my tsh was higher than it should have been in pregnancy, it can make it hard/impossible to get pregnant if it's too high and really it should be below 2 for conception. very easily sorted though and nothing to worry about at all, just something to keep an eye on. mine was at 4 when I got pregnant, and my DD is fine Smile

Cobblestones · 07/06/2015 00:20

Thanks ponty :) I should follow up on the referral

AbFab86 · 07/06/2015 13:13

As a 'treat' in between exam marking and report writing I have just had a look to see if it's worth me testing tomorrow morning. FF says I am on day 26 today, which is obviously true, but has me down as ovulating on day 15. I suspect I ovulated on day 16, so that would put me at 10dpo, with 4 days until expected AF today. Tomorrow would be 3. Three days is enough right?! I know it's still less likely to get a BFP before a missed AF but I'm impatientGrin Thinking I'll test with one of my many ICs and if it shows even the faintest line I'll use a superdrug one. I'm not expecting it to though. I don't 'feel' pregnant. I kinda thought I did a couple of days ago, but now I don't. I just feel like I've been eating too much Grin I will not waste my more expensive tests until either AF is late or I get a hint of a line on an IC. I think.

PopcornPip · 07/06/2015 13:37

Hey ab embrace the impatience and POAS Smile
CD26 for me, nothing to report.

AbFab86 · 07/06/2015 13:43

Would you like a stick to pee on? I have a range. Picture me like the dodgy looking block in a trench coat in an east end pub trying to flog you watches. But instead they are sticks you pee on.

PopcornPip · 07/06/2015 14:16

Just one more, 'ere guv come on, just one more. I'll get you the money tomorra, honest I will.
Ahem. terrible cockney addict impression

AbFab86 · 07/06/2015 16:11

Haha love it Grin Well I took your advice and gave up being patient. BFN. Of course it was, it was almost 6pm and I'd just had a big drink.

mistletoeprickles · 07/06/2015 20:45

Ab I POAS stick this am and was a BFN but them I remembered with DD I was tested at the doctors, I'd gone for something completely unrelated and they'd suggested a test, it took 15 mins to gets a result and I was 5 weeks by then so I'm not losing hope yet

Ain626 · 08/06/2015 00:27

Hey everyone. I've got a lot to catch up on. Sorry for being so rubbish at keeping up with you fabulous ladies.

I have no updates myself other than the fertility friend app says I ovulated on June 1st based on my temping. I've only been temping a short while though so I'm not convinced it's right. I've also not been the best at making sure it's the same time every day, etc... kinda hoping it's right though as by chance would have dtd on ov day, and the two days before...

In other news I'm trying to invoke law of sod by booking an all inclusive holiday for august. We paid a bit extra to upgrade from full board to AI. Here's to hoping it wasn't worth my while...

Will read all your updates properly tomorrow as it's time for me to try to sleep. But yay ab I saw that clomid worked. Hopefully will result in a bfp!

I've been awake for an hour, woke up with cramping. Sad but have used the time wisely? and have caught up with everything. A lot to read in one go though, sorry if I mess names up or miss anything!

rufus yay for everything being okay. I've been thinking about you and your little bean. Glad to hear things are looking positive.

ab and mistletoe I have my fingers crossed for both of you. I really hope this cycle is your cycle. We need more bfps so we can set a follow up thread in the pregnancy board. Wink

ab I will also have to give your blog a read. I love a good blog me. Will check it out when I get chance.

Hello to chandelier battenburg vixx and anyone else I haven't said hello to yet.

Congratulations to sadtimes who popped in with her twin success story. I hope all is well for you lovely.

cobble Flowers for due date. And hugs. I don't understand why hugs are so unmumsnetty. We all need a good hug.

I've probably missed a bunch of stuff in my reply.

I have nothing new to report. My appointment is coming ever closer, June 26th. shorty I just told my head I had a hospital appointment letter through for the 26th and could I be covered for a couple hours. Got a yes in return and no further questions asked... I did ask by email though as my letter came at the beginning of half term.

Currently trying to work up the enthusiasm to get up. Cramping is low down, kinda central and below my belly button. Also have heartburn and feeling slightly nauseous. If ff is right and I did ovulate on June 1st according to the app I could be experiencing implantation. of course this is wishful thinking and I am probably falsely getting my hopes up, symptom spotting with practically no cycles

Who asked about soy isoflavones? I took some this cycle having had my first natural period in years (only lasted a day and a bit, but I'm claiming that victory) with cd1 being 30th April. If I did actually ovulate on June 1st as ff suggests then maybe it did have some affect? June 1st was cycle day 33 for me. I was also ill that day. Was nauseous, was vomiting, extra tired (probably because I had been sick all night) and actually took the day off work as felt so terrible (very unlike me). Either I was ovulating and having not done so in who knows how long my body didn't like it, or, most likely, I just had a 24 hour bug of some description...

Currently still lay in bed, using my dog as a hot water bottle as I've strategically positioned him for cuddles next to my tummy. Cramps combined with a really poor nights sleep mean I want to stay here and not go to work... maybe I'm just allergic to Mondays. Last Monday was when I was off sick...

That sick day also sparked pregnancy rumours with some of the staff at school... Hmm

Ain626 · 08/06/2015 06:56

ab it took me so long to write that epic post on my phone I cross posted! That looks like a line to me!!! Grin Grin Grin

Congratulations. Woop woop! I felt so positive about you from your other posts. How you feeling? What has DH said?

Flowers Flowers Flowers

DrewOB · 08/06/2015 07:30

That looks like a line to me too!

I don't recommend symptom spotting :( last month I had morning sickness like symptom, high temperature, lower back pains, enlarged breasts, the lot. All tests negative. I even paid for a scan to be sure and nothing.
