TTC with PCOS

Are there any other ladies out there trying to conceive with PCOS? Or any success stories of conceiving with PCOS?

We've been ttc and off of bc since August. Since then I've been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I am overweight, especially for my height as I'm only short - but am trying to lose the weight. I'm almost at a 10% weight loss since getting the PCOS diagnosis in November 14. I haven't had any periods since coming off of bc in August 14, apart from what I'm guessing was a withdrawal bleed (that happened pretty much straight away - end of August) and a couple of very light bleeds that lasted no longer than a day.

I'm just feeling all a bit fed up now and think I need to hear from others that are either in a similar boat or have been able to have healthy normal pregnancies despite the PCOS.

Apologies for my very self absorbed posting at the moment.

I have no one to vent at about it so sorry ladies.

I've got two of the same brand arriving tomorrow so will save my morning pee, classy I know!

Yes with DD I was 5 weeks and took a long time to show.

I'm struggling because the line was so obvious. I've googled everything I. e had I taken it wrong etc and everything just says about not getting false positives. It's not an evaporation line either because it's pink. Grrrrrrr Angry

mistletoeprickles · 09/06/2015 17:18

I have spoken to the GP who has that there's two options
1- It's not a viable pregnacy hence the positive then negative
2- Those tests are just very sensitive.

She has said they will be willing to do bloods in a weeks time as I'm not officially late yet. She said I'll know or the other by then anyway.

So the waiting begins again

AbFab86 · 09/06/2015 17:29

Vent away! It's pointless saying try not to worry, but I can't see how even a non-viable pregnancy would produce a negative test so quickly after a positive. When can they do the blood test?

mistletoeprickles · 09/06/2015 17:35

I have no idea ab I think I focused on the 'it is still possible'

I can go next Tuesday but I think I'll know either way by then with hpt.

There's no sign of AF and no stirrings although TMI a lot of wet cm

soontobemrslizzy · 09/06/2015 17:43

Hi ladies,

I hope I can join in. I just found out that I may have PCOS and am waiting to do another blood test/ultrasound. I'm getting married in two months and we really want to start a family (we were going to wait a year or so although now we may not wait) so I'm totally devastated. I don't know how much of a problem it is. I can't find out what my chances are of getting pregnant, and I desperately want a baby. My periods are usually fairly regular (26-32 days) but I had two very long cycles the last two months (which I thought was stress) of 39 days each. The doctor said not to worry too much, it's fairly easy to treat with Clomid and such but then he did say that there was always IVF, which made me really freaked out. Do you guys have any advice?

IsItIorAreTheOthersCrazy · 09/06/2015 18:26

soontobe the best advice I can think of is not to panic. PCOS/PCO effects women in such a variety of ways that you may have it and fall pregnant no problem. Try not to worry until you have more information.
Also, many GPs are clueless about this, so read up as much as you can and ask for a referral if you don't have one already. I think one of the biggest issues to deal with is when you need specialist help and it's taking a long time to get the ball rolling - doing your own research can help with this.
Also, lean on the DH-to-be and tackle everything as a team. If it does end up that you need fertility treatment, you will need to be on the same side and have his support Flowers

IsItIorAreTheOthersCrazy · 09/06/2015 18:35

mistletoe I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you. Seeing the BFPs on this thread has really helped me lately.

Ain626 · 09/06/2015 19:23

Hello soontobe Just want to reitterate IsIt's advice really. If your periods are fairly regular that's got to be a good thing. Maybe temping could help see if you are ovulating? I've only just recently started temping myself though so I can't offer too much advice there...

Ain626 · 09/06/2015 19:25

Actually, talking of temping.. Here is my graph for since I've started temping... Is it just a coincidence that I start temping and then I get that increase in temp? Or could that be ovulation?

Ain626 · 09/06/2015 19:27

Would help if I attached it!

Shellbell0403 · 09/06/2015 21:27

Mistletoe fingers and everything crossed for you!! Hope it is positive!!

Sorry been quiet or a few days.. My details not changed.. Now in the 100s waiting on my AF!! Hormonal wreck!

soontobemrslizzy · 09/06/2015 22:09

IsItI, thank you, I hope you're right. I've been trying to find out exactly how many women with PCOS do successfully have children and I keep seeing that most do but most is a little vague. The doctor seemed fairly knowledgeable about PCOS (he referred me immediately for an ultrasound and a blood test, blood test is on Thursday but have to wait until July 3 for the ultrasound). He also said that I shouldn't worry because as problems with fertility go, PCOS is more treatable than most others and that I could get Clomid which is good at least. We are moving in a couple of months so will need to find a new GP though.

My fiance is very supportive, he's been brilliant. He's a programmer so he's developed a logical plan starting with finding out more, through fertility treatments and ultimately adoption if need be, but God willing it won't come to that.

Thank you for your kind words though, I'm trying not to panic but not having much success! I don't know how I'll wait a month to get the ultrasound, I'll be so worried (and given that we're moving to a different part of the UK and planning a wedding, the last thing I need!).

AbFab86 · 10/06/2015 04:10

Ain that is quite a marked shift so there's every chance you could've ovulated. I'm not sure whether temps dip back below the cover line so soon after ovulation, so it might be that you ovulated around day 35 instead of when FF thinks. Keep at it, temping is the only thing that has been completely reliable for me so far.

mistletoeprickles · 10/06/2015 07:33

Welcome soon

Nothing to report yet this morning, I'm awaiting arrival of the postman but AF is now 2 days late and still no stirrings.

Will report back later

DrewOB · 10/06/2015 07:43

I'm 2 days back on Marvelon. I couldn't cope with mood swings, putting on ridiculous amounts of weight and facial hair anymore. I'm hoping it will help reduce cysts and that when I come off it in 6 months I'll have a much better chance.

battenberg123 · 10/06/2015 10:09

Drew I hope Marvelon does the trick, does that mean 6 months of no ttc? Sad

Ain I've been thinking of temping too, but with the way my body works I think it will just add to the stress even more so I'm going to give it a miss.

Welcome Soon, another newbie here! I've been for a scan this morning where the nurse said my ovaries appear polycystic; but she couldn't tell me a lot more so it's a 10 day wait for me now.

Mistletoe and Ab still keeping everything crossed for you!

Luckily I'm going on holiday Saturday, hopefully will take my mind off things for a while.

chandelierswinger · 10/06/2015 11:06

Morning all, and welcome soontobe

battenberg Have a lovely holiday. I've had mine already... It's going to be a loooong summer! Where are you off to?

Hello Drew Hope the marvelon helps with some of your symptoms. I can't take any OCPs anymore due to having migraines with auras (even though I only get them once in a blue moon); they've changed the rules a lot!The time out (no pressure and fewer symptoms) will hopefully do you the world of good. I conceived my first child during my first natural cycle off the pill Smile

Ain How exciting to see such a big shift in your temp. I've not gone down that route myself yet... but won't rule it out! Get working on making the most of that temp rise Wink

Mistletoe Hope the postman comes soon and you get to see that lovely strong line again. Thinking of you.

Any news from Rufus ?

I'm CD2 and really, really feeling it too Sad BUT it's all good news, as it means the Agnus Castus didn't completely mess me up and I only had a 36 day cycle-whoop whoop! Grin An annovulatory cycle is soooo frustrating though, as it just feels wasted. I mean, I do like to BD as much as the next girl Wink , but when there wasn't anything there to catch, it makes it seem pointless. Oh well. Looking forward to getting going again this month; as DH says, think of all the extra sh*gging he gets!! pmsl! Blush

So, I'm on EPO currently 1000mg, but going up to 2000mg, up until (fingers crossed) I ov; I'm also on Vit B complex throughout. I am then going for the SI this month on CD3-7, then will poas to try to catch any eggy that might decide to give it a whirl. I do love a plan. Grin

chandelierswinger · 10/06/2015 11:07

AbFab LOVED seeing your lovely second line Grin Over the shock yet?!?!

AbFab86 · 10/06/2015 11:25

Haha absolutely not chandelier! I'll be peeing on all my cheapy sticks until they run out. I'll have probably given birth by then, all being well Grin

I like the sound of your plan. I'll be interested to hear how the SI works. I highly recommend temping. It was the only clear indicator hat I had ovulated as I wasn't overly sure whether I could trust the OPKs.

Pebbles086 · 10/06/2015 11:58

soon welcome to this lovely, supportive thread. As you can see they're has been some real good news on here this week! BFPsSmile and lots of well wishes when things get a little rough or uncertain.
battern enjoy your holiday, it will be a much needed break!
mistletoe still crossing everything for you

I had my scan ysday, well sort of! The cons didn't do the TV scan instead I am booked in for a preop to get a date for the HSG scan. He said my left tube will more than likely need removing and depending on the R one, that good go too, then IVF is obviously our only option! He did so though that there's a chance it could be ok, in that case I can start meds to induce ovulation etc. I am trying to be really optimistic and hoping to God my R tube is fine. I feel like a bit of a failure at the moment, DH has been wonderful though.
Only positive thing is how fast they going with this, I have my preop next thurs.
I think some of you have had HSG, does it hurt? Would I need a few days off work?

Xx

RoseBud2015 · 10/06/2015 12:33

Hi ladies!

Can you believe we are nearly at the end of this thread?! We are such a chatty lot! I will do the new thread with the stats link at the beginning once we get to the end of this one Grin

Ain I would say it's too soon to know if FF is accurate or not. Kepp temping and lets see what happens! I have have crosshair before that then were removed because more temps changes FFs opinion.

Welcome Soon! Could you give me your stats so I can add you to them? How old are you? When did you start ttc? Are you taking any meds? Do you have any children already?

Battenberg Jealous of your holiday! Where are you off to? Have an amazing time!!!!

Mistletoe Fingers crossed you get out of limboland soon! I dont think pink lines can be false positives so I'm hoping your other test was just not sensitive enough and that why you got the BFN! Let us know once you have any news! x

Chandelier Hello lovely! I know that no ov feeling all too well! Sounds like you have a great plan in place now though! What mg of soy do you plan to take?

Pebbles I am sorry to hear that you will have to have your left tube removed! Flowers I really hope there is good news about the right tube! I have read lots of positive stories on her about women conceiving with only one tube, and about the tube moving between the 2 ovaries to catch the egg being released!!!! Didn't even know that was possible but apparently it is! I really hope it is good news for you!!! I have never had a HSG so cannot help you there. Flowers

As for me, a colleague at work is pregnant. She hasn't announced it yet but I've just found out. And another colleague's teenager child is having a baby too! If they start chatting about ANYTHING baby related I am at risk of crying my eyes out!! Dreading work everyday now Sad Sad I'm such a bitch cos I know I should be happy for them both but I'm not. Sad

RoseBud2015 · 10/06/2015 12:38

Oh and I finished my 5 days of Provera yesterday so I'm now waiting for my bleed before starting 100mg clomid! BRING. IT. ON! Smile

Pebbles086 · 10/06/2015 13:05

rosebud it's pretty shitty when you hear other pple's news, try block it out your mind, that's what I do. Your not the first or the last women to feel this way Flowers
Thanks for being positive, my friend only has 1 ovary and she's been pregnant 3 times, MC twice but has a gorgeous son! It is possible.
Glad your staring a new thread, I would be lost without the advice and support on here xxx

chandelierswinger · 10/06/2015 13:37

Oh Pebbles Your poor left tube Sad Everything crossed for your lovely right tube. Good that your cons has a plan for you. Still must be a shock though. Flowers

Hellooooo RoseBud Sorry to hear about your work-related pg stories. I guess if they don't know the difficulties you are going through, they wouldn't think to be sensitive about it all around you, but then again, it's not something you want to share with colleagues. News of the pgs of others can be a real challenge: I am very, very conscious of the fact that my two of closest friends have had unsuccessful IVFs (no pgs between them [sad[ )and here I am trying for another baby. Fingers crossed for your bleed asap so you can bring that clomid on!

After a lot of research on soy, I'm going for 120mg (got 40mg tabs) for 2x days, 160mg for 2x day, then 200mg for 1 day...

New thread? Blimey! Exciting time... Look forward to seeing more BFPs on it. Smile

Shellbell0403 · 10/06/2015 14:33

Rosebud sorry to hear your work about your work related issues!! Positive thinking, it will be you soon?? paint on that big smile.. I know it's hard but won't be long til your with them ??

Peebles, im sorry to hear that! my boss had the same issue but she had a gorgeous wee boy!! It will happen for you! Sending hugs

Welcome soon!
