TTC with PCOS

Ainat266 · 15/03/2015 14:25

Are there any other ladies out there trying to conceive with PCOS? Or any success stories of conceiving with PCOS?

We've been ttc and off of bc since August. Since then I've been diagnosed with PCOS and put on Metformin. I am overweight, especially for my height as I'm only short - but am trying to lose the weight. I'm almost at a 10% weight loss since getting the PCOS diagnosis in November 14. I haven't had any periods since coming off of bc in August 14, apart from what I'm guessing was a withdrawal bleed (that happened pretty much straight away - end of August) and a couple of very light bleeds that lasted no longer than a day.

I'm just feeling all a bit fed up now and think I need to hear from others that are either in a similar boat or have been able to have healthy normal pregnancies despite the PCOS.

ab definitely positive congratulations Flowers

AbFab86 · 08/06/2015 08:22

Oh my god it is, isn't it??! DH doesn't know! I did an IC this morning after he had left for work and there was the most faint line ever, to the point where I was 90% sure I was imagining it. I had kept the pot (because I'm classy like that) just in case, so stuck a superdrug test in there. I then spent almost half an hour standing in different lights trying to be sure there was a line. Was late for work.

I'm trying not to get too carried away. I know PCOS increases the chance of miscarriage and then there are the normal chances of it too. And I'm only on cd27 so not even late yet. I've got to teach all day and invigilate an exam with this whirring around in my head! Time will draaaag til I can go home and tell DH. No idea how to tell him yet. Interpretive dance?!

Eeek! This bus is lucky! BFPs for everyone, I can sense it!

AbFab86 · 08/06/2015 08:22

mistletoe are you POAS today/soon?

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 08:31

This is a lucky bus, just hope I'm next Grin

I will POAS again this morning but not hopeful because of my history of results not showing up until 4/5 weeks

Rufus200 · 08/06/2015 08:32

AbFab woohoo so excited for you!!! You get to come and join the Feb AN thread with me, yeah!!!!

AbFab86 · 08/06/2015 08:44

Thanks Rufus and everyone else :D I'm going to wait a couple of days before joining the AN thread...not sure how long it'll take to sink in and I want to make sure it's a definite positive first before I go to mamas and papas and order a load of furniture get carried away.

Mistletoe I really hope this is your cycle! Be sure to do it with FMU. I'd stored mine up for over 8hrs Grin Hopefully the line will start getting darker over the next few days.

AbFab86 · 08/06/2015 08:47

Oh and forgot to say...the thing that made me test this morning (other than me being an impatient cow) is that my temperature had shot up to 36.7 which is the highest it has ever been when I've been temping. Half thought I'd caught a cold off the randomer in my office yesterday that was coughing and spluttering all over the place.

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 08:50

Holy shit....There's two lines! I don't have another test to check it on

AbFab86 · 08/06/2015 09:04

Then go bloody buy one!!! Arghhh could we have 2 BFPs in one day?! Damn I have hundreds of the buggers I wish I could send you one! Go get a FRER or a superdrug one. AND TAKE A PHOTO OF THIS ONE! I need to calm down.

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 09:09

It's not obvious on a photo, clearly my camera is pants because it is clear anx definately pink. I'm now just paranoid the test is faulty. It was an Internet cheap one but one that's in case. The strip one I did at the same time shows nothing.
I shall get one later for FMU tomorrow.

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 09:18

I think I've got a picture

TTC with PCOS
AbFab86 · 08/06/2015 09:25

I'm pretty sure I can see a line there!!! But if you say it took you weeks to show as positive before then that's probably to be expected. And if it wasn't FMU, even more so. Eeeek I'm going to be desperate for news tomorrow now! ThanksThanksThanks

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 09:28

It was second. It's more there in real life.
I've had a lot of symptoms but have been denying myself of them so I didn't get too hopefully. Until I've confirmed it I won't accept it.

nearly1stonelighter · 08/06/2015 09:33

they can do the blood tests after 3 months with no periods.

i came off the evra patch in aug 13. i didn't have a period until july 14. my cycles range from 21-84 days. we are still ttc :(

if you are diagnosed with pcos you can start fertility treatment right away. i had a transvaginal scan last july. they said one ovary had cysts but they were too small for me to be diagnosed with pcos.

otherwise you have to wait 12 months for a fertility referral (6 months if 35+)

i already have 1 child (not dps biological child) and in my pct that means no fertility treatment on the nhs.

i have been doing biwi's low carb bootcamp for 9 weeks to try and decrease any insulin resistance and i am going to start running again.

we try to do the deed every 3 days minimum but it hasn't worked for us yet.

i am 134 lbs and 5 foot 4 so not overweight either.

i need to have my 12 monthly thyroid function test (i have congenital hypothyroidism) and fasting blood glucose test so will see what the figures are for that but they are usually in range.

nearly1stonelighter · 08/06/2015 09:53

tsh levels when ttc should be 0.4Â mU/L to 2.0Â mU/L and blood sugar levels should be below 6.5

RoseBud2015 · 08/06/2015 10:18

OMG Ab and Mistletoe!!! Congratulations!! Obviously still very early days for you both but amazing to get 2 BFPs in one day! Xxx

RoseBud2015 · 08/06/2015 10:19

Mistletoe is this your first round of 100mg clomid?! You are giving me hope! Smile

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 10:33

Thanks rose I'm still unsure but will be confirming tomorrow.
Yes it was my first on 100mg . I had 50mg in February which didn't produce follicles, we then had a break because life was very stressful and started the 100mg in May.
Today I am useless, just in a little bubble and keep getting up to look at the test again. Luckily DD is happily sticking stuff

PontyGirl · 08/06/2015 11:24

wahoo! 2 bfps! congratulations ladies Grin Grin Grin

Rufus200 · 08/06/2015 12:00

Mistletoe congrats! Can't believe 2 BFPs on the same day!!! I'm only a week ahead of both of you so this is so exciting!!! I have already blown up with fluid retention, lost my waist and look like I've put a stone on in a week!

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 12:03

Thanks ponty and rufus
I'm definately not convinced, I've never seen an evaporation line but I've convinced myself it is one!
I'm about to talk DP into a trip to superdrug on his break because I don't have the energy to go to town, just been to the local chemist but there was someone I know in there so didn't want to go in.

chandelierswinger · 08/06/2015 12:49

OMG ab and mistletoe !!!! Absolutely amaaaaaaazing news for both of you!!!!!!!! Utterly delighted for you. Wishing you a h&h 9 months Smile xx

chandelierswinger · 08/06/2015 13:02

Well it's CD35 today for me, BFN on an IC yday but am 100% sure I'm out this month, so not surprised. Have some dark tinged cm (sorry if tmi!) so think I may be on for a shorter wait than last month (AF on CD47) then I can hop right on it again!

My research has led me to have the entire contents of Holland & Barrett in my cupboard for this cycle, so I'm excited about getting started. I'm abandoning the Agnus Castus as I didn't OV at all (prob coincidental but seeing as I normally do, albeit randomly, I'm not prepared to waste a cycle waiting to find out!). I'm trying out b6, b complex, evening primrose oil and soy isoflavones, along with my usual folic acid. I'll be rattling!!!! Pmsl! Thanks ain for the SI info and welcome. Still undecided about which CDs and dosage to take!!

In other news, I look like a red panda today after spending the afternoon in my garden drinking wine (this is what happens after a BFN right?!) without a joy of sun cream on. Idiot.

Hope everyone's week has started well Smile

RoseBud2015 · 08/06/2015 13:03

Updated stats >>>>> HERE

Mistletoe I'm waiting for you to confirm with another test before I update your stats as you seem so unsure- fingers are firmly crossed for you! Smile

mistletoeprickles · 08/06/2015 13:06

Rose ill update tomorrow. I currently have a very confused DP in superdrug so I can test tomorrow with FMU
