Spare I haven't used the Clexane yet - we're doing the FET in about a month. I'm guessing it's injectable then? or past asking questions

tigerdog · 01/04/2015 09:41

Natural fet sounds good happy and not sure about clexane either - i had in my head it comes in one of those pen things but not sure where I got that from.

I feel pretty good this morning all things considered and glad that I'm managing to keep up some gentle exercise as it is helping my mind as much as anything. I dedicated my yoga practice to the berries this morning and especially to barking how's that for a bit of woo eh! wild it does feel like a slog and a bit unnecessary really but I'm just going with it. 2 weeks until scan time - so light touch at my FC that I've not even seen a consultant.

sparechange · 01/04/2015 10:45

Blush Sorry, hope I haven't unduly worried you...

Yes, it is an injectable and comes in single-use syringes, which pop the needle out of your skin when you've injected the right amount, so take a little bit of getting used to!

Thanks for the proxy yoga, tiger! I'm going to go for a quick gym trip, and will dedicate my half-hearted spinning to you all Grin

Smidge001 · 01/04/2015 11:50

Oooh that sounds interesting Spare. My Clexane just came in standard single use syringes, and the needles were fatter/blunter than the puregon pen, so you really had to push hard to get it to burst the skin! It happily dented the surface but took me several attempts to get the hang of actually piercing the skin. Having said that, I barely ever bruised, so it didn't end up being so bad after all.

sparechange · 01/04/2015 13:31

Poor you smidge!
Maybe they are different over 'ere, because my mate had the same ones when she came out of hospital
They look like toy syringes! You take the cap off, and inject it, and when you've pushed the plunger down far enough, it clicks and a plastic tube pings out of the bottom and pushes the needle out of your skin and then the tube acts like a needle cap.

None of that makes sense! I'll try and find a youtube vid...

sparechange · 01/04/2015 13:37

I think this is in Hebrew, but it shows how the syringes work if you skip to about 2:20

WildflowerMarmalade · 01/04/2015 13:56

Say what!!!!!??? We have to learn Hebrew to get pg now?! ^^

sparechange · 01/04/2015 14:06

Yeah wild, that's how all the instadiffers have done it
They put 8 weeks of Rosetta Stone prep work in before they through away their pills, and VOILA!
Us lazy non-linguists have only ourselves to blame Wink

sparechange · 01/04/2015 14:06

Throw away!
Gah

happylass · 01/04/2015 15:11

I've learnt 5 different languages but Hebrew isn't one of them - bloody typical!! Grin

sparechange · 01/04/2015 16:05

Well happy, if that isn't scientific proof, I don't know what is..!

nolly3 · 01/04/2015 17:39

You'd think NICE would mention it. Is 'babydust' Hebrew for 'I'm insufferably smug' then? always wondered about that

nolly3 · 01/04/2015 17:51

er. thought process there went instadiffers-> Hebrew learners AND ALSO smug. just in case.

barkingtreefrog · 01/04/2015 19:07

Evenin'. Or, should I say...

פ×?ר×?ת ×?ער ער×? ×?×?×?×?×?

barkingtreefrog · 01/04/2015 19:07

MN fail on the Hebrew text.
Shocking.

IamKuma · 01/04/2015 21:10

Evening Berries - nice to see that its busy here again after a few days lull.

Spare welcome back - sorry that you are here - I really hope that its not for long. Flowers Damn those instadiffers and their Hebrew - I even learned flipping Japanese and it didn't help!

Barking how are you doing, is your cold getting any better? I hope you've got some nice things planned for Easter weekend to keep your mind off OTD.

Tiger very kind of you to dedicate your practice to us berries today - hopefully that will make up for me missing my practice this morning - I failed to get out of bed in time after going out drinking champers for a friends birthday last night - lady Wild it was Champagne, produced in teh Champagne region of France, in case you were wondering Wink. Back to the mat tomorrow though, so I'll dedicate my practice to you lot and give Ganesha a rub on the way out.

Happy sorry the hear you're not feeling well, there seem to be a load of bugs going around at the moment. Hopefully some sunshine will sort you out.

Beaky If you want home inspirations and you haven't downloaded it already I highly recommend Houzz - it has a website but the app for Ipad/Iphone is amazing and full of lovely photos of houses. You may find yourself browsing for hours though! Its all searchable by room/style etc too.

Lucie hello and welcome - your overseas IVF sounds good. If I had any leave left for this year I'd be considering it now. Unfortunately I have a high level addiction to booking trips away in the hope of an ironidiff to stop me going and manage to allocate all of my annual leave a year in advance.

AFM - I'm OK, haven't heard anything from the FC about the abnormal fertilisation - left a message at the beginning of the week asking somebody to call me so I could book an follow up appointment, but haven't heard anything back. In the meantime I've booked an appointment for a private consultation with the clinic I had my NHS IVF with, but they can't see me until the end of April. I'm now pondering whether just to go back to the first private clinic, as at least we got an embryo from that cycle - and I can basically start whenever without paying for another consultation. DH has been unhelpful with the decision making and prefers to wait until we have a follow up with the FC. In the meantime I've upped the number of supplements I'm consuming and have gone back on the DHEA as it is supposed to improve egg quality - I took it before my first cycle and had slightly better results.....

Anyway, that was quite an epic post! Now off to start learning Hebrew Wink

sparechange · 01/04/2015 22:59

Kuma, which clinics are you looking at? I think The London Clinic and Create Health are the better ones for natural cycles. Both have open evenings where you get a free mini consultation with their docs...

barkingtreefrog · 01/04/2015 23:12

kuma I can now breathe through one nostril and not feeling quite so head coldy if that makes sense, thanks for asking Smile .

tiger thanks for thinking of me this morning Smile . I think I'm in denial here, nothing going on. Just another normal week...

Smidge001 · 02/04/2015 00:30

Loving the Hebrew chat! And the Mumsnet fail on posting just makes this conspiracy even stronger. Grin

Kuma I had at least one abnormal fertilisation result in one of my IVFs. Apparently it's relatively common despite the term. I was told it's generally when two (or more) sperm make it through the shell at the same time so you end up with 3 or more pronuclei.

I just did some googling and discovered this article, which is quite informative. It says abnormal fertilisation tends to happen 1/20 times. www.pacificfertilitycenter.com/blog/abnormal-fertilization

I'm not sure the FC would necessarily do anything different in this case so I suspect you won't learn much from the follow up appt on that score (though presume they will also talk about how to get more good quality eggs). I doubt they would move to ICSI to avoid abnormal fertilisation given the stats, as generally survival of the fittest sperm is the best approach.

IamKuma · 02/04/2015 08:55

spare I did my first cycle at Lister and second at CRGH. Lister would have me do another stimulated cycle but on long protocol, low dose stimms with estrogen priming. We did short protocol last time with them and got 2 eggs, one fertilised. CRGH was natural cycle, got one egg which fertilised abnormally. If I could get even 4 eggs on long protocol chances seem better of getting a fertilised egg so not sure about doing another natural cycle.

Smidge thanks for that link. It gives me some comfort that maybe my eggs aren't all completely bad. It's far too easy to become disheartened after years of TTC unsuccessfully.

Gillster · 02/04/2015 10:06

Kuma when I had my IVF last year I had 12 eggs of which 3 were immature, 2 couldn't be arsed and one abnormal fertilisation (and of course 6 that did fertilise). I think it was just unlucky that your one egg ended up being abnormally fertilised. Hope a change of protocol and a bucket load of supplements can get a few more good quality eggs for you.

All fine with me, still patching it up and panicking every now and again that they've dropped off (they haven't). Looking forward to the long weekend and then scan on Tuesday.

Hi to everyone else!

nolly3 · 02/04/2015 12:21

Hallo everyone. hallo new people, welcome.

Hallo spare. I'm so sorry for what you've been through (saw on copter). Just so sad. hopefully not for long...

kuma it's a game of chance, isn't it. I think it's the hardest part of TTC is dealing with the really limited control we have. When are you seeing your consultant again (sorry if you already said)

gilster i am imagining you slapping various parts of yourself randomly as though you have a wasp inside your trousers. Tuesday scan to look at womb?

tiger that is a kind thought. I have been really lax about yoga lately. and I can never think of anyone to dedicate too (automatic woo-recoil) but that is a really nice idea.

happy I went and looked at NHS Wales stuff (sort of thing i do in my job anyway). Really shocking. ARe Plaid cymru making an election point about it?

How are you beaky? any house news? we've got a completion date, woo hoo. The best bit is the ILs won't' have keys (they do where we are now) so I can wander round in my pants. first time since august.

HB how're you? and hi wild, minx, smidge... I've been off the radar for a while so sorry if I've missed any news.

My DP is off abroad for the summer. which means we have 2 more fufc chances. OH GOD. not counting this month, but I'm not because he was ON HOLIDAY WITH HIS FRIENDS. sigh

nolly3 · 02/04/2015 12:22

i don't mind single sex holidays in principle. it's just that they always seem to coincide with shag week.

sparechange · 02/04/2015 14:32

Breaking news, my unwitting victims of oversharing...
The start of what appears to be the witch has just appeared. Off to the clinic now for a blood test to check my hcg levels so they can tell if they are low enough that I'm likely to have an ovulatory cycle. Dildocam appointment provisionally booked for next week.
Gulp.
