Hi Teagan,
I had an HSG rather than HyCosy but I believe they are very similar. I was completely fine after, went right back to work with no issues. Had to wear an oh so comfy maxipad, but otherwise I barely even had cramps (maybe like day 3 of period, very light cramps). But everyone's different as you can see, others were less fortunate than me. The great thing is that it does increase your fertility, so make sure you OH is ready for plentiful frolicking in the 3 months after!

Teagan007 · 18/03/2015 09:17

Thanks for the feedback. I am having an HSG not HyCoSy sorry. I thought they were the same until I researched the abbreviations.

Glad to know it increases fertility. I'm willing to put up with the period pain symptoms all in aid! I have only just been referred for one and have to wait until day 1 of AF next month until I book it so I have another month of trying - and hoping I won't even need it!

TrixieRay · 18/03/2015 10:38

Toes, I am so sorry to hear your news Flowers

Teagan, I was advised to take two ibruprofen half an hour before the HyCoSy but didn't, like the others say it is like period cramps and I have had worse period pain before. The procedure was fairly quick and I had cramping for about an hour afterwards.

TheTravellingLemon · 18/03/2015 13:53

I was really sorry to read your post toes. FlowersFlowers I hope you are feeling as good as can be expected and look after yourself.Flowers

CritterPants · 19/03/2015 15:07

Toes - I am so very, very sorry to hear this. Now is the time for chocolate ice cream and tears and wine. Sending you a massive tight squeeze. It's a horrible awful feeling and the hormonal crash makes it all especially miserable on top of the dashed hopes.

loopylou1984 · 19/03/2015 17:22

Hi Critter, we've missed your kind words on here. Hope you're ok. Xx

CritterPants · 19/03/2015 18:11

hey sammy, bless you - I'm good, just muddling along and wishing the next four months away! Your appointment must be coming up soon? I bet you're relieved, you've waited so long!

Huge congratulations to lemon Smile

loopylou1984 · 19/03/2015 18:17

Yes, I have a scan mid April, then appointment on 27th. I can't wait! Although kind of worried about the unknown next steps, and (stupidly) can't help thinking 'what if it doesn't work'.

Glad you're ok, is the time going really slowly? Xx

St4rfish · 19/03/2015 20:21

Hi everyone, haven't had time to post for a while but have been reading the thread.

Absolutely gutted to read about your miscarriage Toes. I can completely empathise (I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks in 2013). It is the worst feeling, I would not wish it on anyone. Hope you are being well looked after and that you are taking time to be selfish and recuperate. And to drink gin!

I'm in the stims phase of my cycle now, egg collection week after next. Seems to be going ok so far. Trying not to build hopes up...

Good luck to all of you having HSGs and HyCoSy stuff and for those waiting hope the time doesn't drag. And congrats to Lemon too!

loopylou1984 · 20/03/2015 06:56

Hi st4r, glad your treatment is going well. I'm not sure what stims is, but hopefully you're closer to getting your baby now Smile

loopylou1984 · 24/03/2015 06:44

It's so quiet here that I lost the bus! Xx

TheTravellingLemon · 24/03/2015 20:25

Me too! I just came looking for it, but nobody has been posting. How are you Sammy? We are still without a bathroom

loopylou1984 · 24/03/2015 21:17

I'm ok thanks, just waiting around in the 2ww!
Oh no!! How long has that been? Xx

TheTravellingLemon · 25/03/2015 08:11

A week and a half. Not a week and a half since I've washed I hasten to add! I've been asking to use a shower wherever I go! Grin hopefully it will be done by the end of the week and then we have the plasterers coming in. Before you know it there will be no more artex Shock. At the moment we have artex in bright pink, baby pink, canary yellow, dark grey, lilac, royal blue and olive green. It's an assault on your eyes. And your nose when you consider the cigarette smell and don't even ask about the fleas ShockShockShock.

TWW is a pain, but I don't know what i think about it. I feel pretty sure I conceived this time during what should have been my TWW. I wonder if the charting and stuff can be a red herring meaning we miss our real fertile time. My friend's mum swears she conceived all four of her children on the last day of her period, which we know is scientifically unlikely at best, but maybe there are little anomalies like that and that's why some of us struggle with unexplained infertility, because we're too focused on the right time. I know that when we were ttc, by the time the TWW came around I was delighted not to have to be at it every five minutes!

Anyway, good luck. Keep us updated and Ill send out positive vibes for you Smile

TrixieRay · 25/03/2015 12:02

Hi ladies, just checking in. Pretty sure I'm in the 2ww, managed to DTD lots over the weekend.

Sammy apologies in advance, I have basically cut and paste this post from the April bus.

Had an IVF consultation on Monday as we wanted to get the ball rolling. The consultant was really good and went though everything but turns out there are 2 issues. First I have raynards (poor circulation) my Mum has it and had 3 of us but I've been told to start taking aspirin. Secondly I have polycystic ovaries which is news to me!! I don't have any symptoms but my scan that I had in September shows that I had over 12 follicules on each side which apparently is a sign of pco. I'm a bit miffed that nothing was said then but I think the main implications of pco on fertility are problems with ovulation and I have regular cycles and temping/bloods have confirmed ov. She was a specialist in fertility nutrition and was saying that there is a link between pco and high insulin levels (which can cause hormone imbalances and affect ovulation) so I need to revamp my diet.
She said it is really important to keep blood sugar levels constant. I'm a real grazer and she said that this means my levels are constantly spiking. I've got to eat three balanced meals a day and if I do snack it has to be protein (goodbye afternoon bag of crisps!)

I'm a bit confused as all my blood tests were ok but no harm in revamping my diet.

St4r, good luck for next week.

Lemon, I think you've definitely got a point re the 2ww. My reflexologist was telling me about a lady who had got pregnant from DTD during her 2ww....may have to get a few more goes in this cycle.

Critter lovely to hear from you. Ooh, I really hope the next four months fly by for you.

TheTravellingLemon · 25/03/2015 12:42

Trixie I have PCOS too, but it was not given as a reason for my (at the time) infertility. I think it can make things a little bit off though, so even more reason not to completely rely on the charts and things. Also, it does mean that it can all take a little bit longer. Sixish months for my first and around 18 for this pregnancy.

I used My Fitness Pal ap to help my look at my diet and found it really really good. I highly recommend filling it out every day if you want to keep track of your sugar intake.

TrixieRay · 25/03/2015 13:38

That's reassuring Lemon. I think I just have pco and not the syndrome as I don't have any symptoms except for a high number of follicules - it's all a bit confusing! It definitely makes sense that it is throwing things off a bit. She was really positive about us conceiving and its great to feel like I am doing something that really may help Smile
Thanks for the ap recommendation. I generally eat well but am a nightmare for snacking. I was happily eating a couple of marshmallows when I got in from work as a little treat- nearly 10g of sugar it turns out Blush

loopylou1984 · 28/03/2015 08:39

Lemon hope the work to your house is going well? Sounds very colourful!
We also had artex to get rid of, but all white in our case!

Hope everyone's ok Smile

Teagan007 · 28/03/2015 15:42

Hi everyone, just an update: We've moved into our new house! Crikey what a week - talk about hectic! Currently living amongst several mountains of cardboard boxes and feeling like there maybe no end in sight...I'm knackered! Lemon, I really feel for you having just moved yourself, not being able to use the shower...ours is decent, just needs a clean but general beauty and grooming (makeup in particular) has somewhat taken a back seat with the move! ...so I look even more knackered and worn out than usual!

Talking about ceilings, literally every wall and ceiling in our new house is covered in wallpaper! Lol, not just plain white, but that awful 3D patterned stuff with one bedroom even having multicolour wallpaper above your head, it's proper crazy! We have our work cut out here but it's liveable and as we handed our rented home keys in today, I've said goodbye to one chapter of my life and a big hello to a brand new one....ready armed with wallpaper scrapers!

loopylou1984 · 28/03/2015 16:51

Yay Teagan! Glad you're all moved in Smile Xx

TheTravellingLemon · 28/03/2015 17:17

Hi Sammy. We finally have a working shower! First shower in my own home this morning! It's broken so it has to be taken down and replaced, but progress is progress. Smile

Well done Teagan. It really is so much more chaotic than you think it's going to be isn't it. You'll feel fantastic once all the weird stuff has gone. Even the plastered walls are an improvement here. Still about 3 weeks left here I reckon. I can't wait for it all to be done. Our new lights showed up yesterday, they look beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing them up.

loopylou1984 · 29/03/2015 20:29

Woohoo for a shower lemon SmileSmile

loopylou1984 · 30/03/2015 07:19

This mornings temp drop officially brings me to cycle 18. It's not going to happen for us is it? Xx
