inasimilarboat oh that wasn't too long to wait! hopefully mine will be similar. How did it go?

CritterPants · 17/02/2015 18:35

Hi ladies

Just wanted to pop in to say hello and especially massive congratulations to Toes. I am so thrilled for you sweetheart.

Hang in there everyone. This thread with its funny, generous, wonderful women has been a lifeline for me since December 2012, during my looong mission to be a mum, and I hope it will provide support and camaraderie for all of you too. It's a horrible, miserable journey to be on, but having company makes it a little more bearable.

Inasimilarboat · 17/02/2015 19:04

Missmrsmummy- it went ok thank you. They said they couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

I came off the pill last March, periods retuned but so light I don't think they actually count as periods. Had bloods done a few months ago as I have also lost 2 stone in weight but everything looked fine. I haven't had the bloods done at day 5 and 21 yet though so going back to the GP later this cycle to request that they are done next cycle. Will have DH with me as well to ask for a sperm analysis.

I'm fairly sure there is nothing wrong and my lack of being pregnant is now caused by my low weight (bmi of 16).

Inasimilarboat · 17/02/2015 19:05

I haven't been referred to fertility clinic yet- ultrasound was requested by the GP to investigate my lack of proper periods. That might be why it didn't take as long.

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 18/02/2015 11:41

Inasimilarboat - hopefully they'll have a look at everything else too so if there's something obvious they should pick up on it.

critter how lovely to hear from you, I hope everything is going well!

nelly I have to wait until the 6th for my scan, but so far everything seems ok. Had absolutely no bleeding even after I stopped progesterone (they only gave me 14 days worth) and I did a test this morning because I have a horrid cold and am soooo worried about the little embryo, and it said pregnant 2-3 weeks so my hCG must be going up. I remember you saying you had a private scan booked between the 7 and 12 weeks, could you recommend somewhere? I've googled around and the prices vary massively but they all promise to be wonderful and fluffy and I'm not into all that I just want to see the heartbeat to curb the terror that it's all going to go tits up at least for a day or two!

Pikz · 19/02/2015 19:11

Consultant on Friday to find out next steps. Never thought I'd be 14 months and no bfp:( currently not feeling too positive

loopylou1984 · 19/02/2015 19:18

Rrrr Pikz, know how you feel. Chin up Hun, I've come to realise that these appointments are a good thing, next steps to getting our babies Smile Xx

Pikz · 20/02/2015 10:18

Consultant confirmed everything removed benign and now to give everything a good shot til may. In the long term a hysterectomy is the answer but until I'm done then we will manage the issues.
So trying harder til may and crossing everything it happens

Hi Ladies. Can i join? TTC 2 years and on first cycle using CBFM!

St4rfish · 22/02/2015 20:59

Hi Steff, this threads a bit quieter than most, but welcome! Loads of wise ladies on here if you read back through the thread (and the last thread).

Nelly, nice to hear from you, hope you're well. Smile

Pikz, hope you're feeling better and have had a good weekend. I have had lots of dark times over the years and always come out of the other side, but it's tough. Allowing yourself to wallow in the misery for a bit is sometimes good for the soul I think. Flowers

On day 1 of DR, first injection done. I did get a bumpy rash afterwards, like an insect bite/nettle rash. Anyone else who has been through IVF have this? It's been about an hour and a half since and seems to be going away now.

Hope everyone else is well x

loopylou1984 · 23/02/2015 07:59

So quiet that I just realised I'd lost my place!
Welcome to the newbies.
I've found this thread so comforting and useful when I've had questions and worries. Xx

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 23/02/2015 16:02

Hi Steff, welcome! Hopefully the cbfm will work for you and you won't be here long, although you're always welcome of course!

St4r - yes, I had this. As I got better at doing the injections I had fewer bumps and blemishes, but then I'd get over confident and do it badly and end up with a bruise. Do you need to keep your drugs in the fridge? I only had to keep the hCG trigger in the fridge and it stuck like a *** when I did it and went all red and blotchy, I guess because of the difference in temperatures between my fridge and my body?

AFM I'm waiting patiently for my 7 week scan. I'm 5 1/2 weeks now and my symptoms seems to be subsiding, so I am sick with worry about the little embryo. I think I'm going to buy another few pregnancy tests on my way home this evening so I can keep testing for peace of mind.

I have also developed a HUGE fear of being punched in the stomach - I actually struggle to get to sleep at night worrying that someone will accidentally punch me and kill the embie I've been trying to grow so hard.

MrsGingerbread · 24/02/2015 05:15

Hello ladies,

Sorry to those of you who are having a tough time, this really is a hard journey isn't it. Often not helped at all by people asking insensitive questions.

I had my first drs appointment today. We aren't looking for referral quite yet, but I wanted to make sure that everything was in place so that we can in June. (That will be a year after my second miscarriage).

The Dr was lovely and really took his time. He suggested that I do a full blood count to rule out likely causes of problems and I did that yesterday. I need to go back in a couple of weeks to discuss the results. After that he said would come the day 3 and 21 tests - but apparently they refer to the fertility service for those as interpreting the results is so specialist.

So taken my first step, eeeek! :)

Welcome Stef. good luck with the CBFM.

Doesn't it just Donna! I'm meeting a friend who's just had a surprise baby at the weekend. I'm looking forward to it but there is that little jealous voice in my head saying she didn't even want kids and we have been trying so very hard!

Sorry you are worrying Toes, I imagine I will be exactly the same when it finally happens. I hope the tests are giving you peace of mind.

Glad your appointment went well MrsGingerbread.

I've been taking Maca and Co Enzyme Q 10 after reading good things about them and looks like I've brought ov forward and missed it - grr!

loopylou1984 · 25/02/2015 17:41

Can I ask a question?

How can I find out the criteria for IVF for my area? Ie how long you have to have been trying, how many rounds you get etc. xx

BertieBoo10 · 25/02/2015 19:30

Hi..Room for a small one?

TTC 17 months now, particularly fed up this month as I was 3 days overdue AF and genuinely thought this was going to be my month. All morning super light spotting (which I never get) which has now turned into full on AF. :( Never mind, can't say I'm not used to it. If I ever get a positive I think I'll need to take a dozen to believe it!!
Had a dabble in charting, CBAFM and decided I needed to stop as sexy time was no longer that...It was ritual and our relationship was becoming frought. We're giving it until after our holiday in June then we have agreed we'll go to the doctors. I don't particularly want to go to the doctors as I don't want to be told any bad news ( that may sound ridiculous).

Just need a place to have a bit of a moan and a chat about nothing or everything.x

BertieBoo10 · 25/02/2015 19:31

Sammylou1 go into HFEA website ( hfea.gov.uk) and it gives you waiting times, criteria etc x

loopylou1984 · 25/02/2015 19:45

Thanks Bertie, I haven't been able to find anything useful on my own.

Sorry for af, I know what you mean about being used to it. We're cycle 16 atm. I also know what you mean about sexy time not being sexy anymore so I am giving up temping after this cycle and being more relaxed (haha) about things until be see the specialist in April. Xx

BertieBoo10 · 26/02/2015 07:19

I wish I could say stopping charting, monitoring etcetera has made it sexy again but it hasn't. To be honest I feel vile at the moment and pretty glum so don't really want him near me. Thankfully it's whilst AF is here. Fingers crossed for you for April x

MrsGingerbread · 26/02/2015 08:00

Hello everyone,

I have been to the gp to slowly start the ball rolling on some help for us. He was very kind and helpful. First step is a heap of blood tests, so I have done those and back to get the results on Tuesday. :)

I don't want to hurry to the clinic, and definitely have weight to lose so I am concentrating on that, but it feels good to make a start. :)

BertieBoo10 · 26/02/2015 09:12

Hi Mrs,

Glad to hear you were able to get into the GP and start the process. I'll be watching your progress and journey with interest (mostly as I'm currently too scared to go to the GP). May I ask did you go with you partner or by yourself? I only ask as I do shift work and my partner works 8-5.30 on week days so I think we'll struggle to get an appointment together. All the best!

Quick late night post for Toes. We went to ABC4D in Corstorphine. I went initially for an endometrium scan before I went to Athens and really liked the sonographer. So went for our private scan and was very happy again. Of course it helps it was good news but it is small, friendly and she was very through. Good luck for the 7 week one. I'm now 18+5 and remember that 7 week terror well. Mainly as I still feel it, I'm afraid!

Good luck to everyone else too.

MrsGingerbread · 01/03/2015 03:38

Hi Bertie

It was just me that went. My dh and I are actually registered at different practices (I have a complex history so staying with my childhood one!) , so not sure how that will work. He did suggest a sperm analysis for dh too, so hoping that his doctor does the forms!

Really I wanted to see if there is anything else we could be doing. I didn't want to go back in the summer (1year after last mc) and be told 'just try another n months and take xyz' if that is advice I could be trying now to keep everything moving along.

Results of my blood tests on Tuesday. So fingers crossed
that there's nothing scary there.

My gp said the day 3/21 bloods are done by the fertility clinic and not him as the results are so technical to interpret. Is that what others have been told?

Sorry, that was a lot of me, me, me. :(

How is everyone doing?
