A friendly and welcoming thread full of lovely women.

Jade, definitely go to the GP. They will do some blood tests and probably a sperm analysis of your partner. That takes a wee while because you have to have them done on certain days (5 and 21 I think) and if those are all fine you'll be refered to a fertility specialist. It's very straightforward and everyone has been lovely to me!

FluffyNut · 13/02/2015 18:22

Toes - yay! you clever girl! congratulations, time to take it easy and let the news settle in xxx

Pikz · 13/02/2015 18:34

Yay toes!!!!

TrixieRay · 13/02/2015 22:35

Ooh Nelly, spent so long writing my last post it crossed with yours. I love hearing about the scans, hopefully the next few weeks go quickly for you.

Welcome Running, inasimilarboat and Jade.

Running, I'm not sure about the lap and dye but hopefully someone else can help. Love the idea of uping sticks and going travelling for a bit.

Hope your scan went ok inasimilarboat.

Toes- yippee!! Brilliant news Smile

Pikz - when will you be testing?

Inasimilarboat · 14/02/2015 15:13

Thanks Trixie.

Scan went ok and they said that everything looked normal and they could see no signs of Pcos.

My lack of proper periods is now probably down to my low weight and stress.

Going back to the GP this week as I am hoping next month to have the bloods done on day 5 and 21 of my March cycle as I haven't had them done yet. Will also ask for my husband to be tested.

TheTravellingLemon · 14/02/2015 15:47

Congratulations toes! Fantastic news Flowers.

Up to my eyes in boxes atm so just popping to say how pleased I am to hear your news and welcome to all the newbies Smile

MuddyWellyNelly · 14/02/2015 16:11

Congratulations Toes, told you the hospital did well Wink. Do you have frosties? What next, an early scan?

Fluffy, how are you, how many weeks now?

Thanks Sammy and Trixie for thinking of me. Yes so far all seems well, only 3 weeks and 5 days till next scan....sigh. Still by that point, all being well, I will be at the magical Half way stage. Hoping I will start feeling definite movements soon to calm me, I still can't tell stretching from movement from gas to needing a wee Grin

Hi to everyone else. Will pop in now and again to cheerlead you all.

Pikz · 15/02/2015 06:19

Woweee nelly half way nearly!

Another month another af Hmm feeling rather down today

TheTravellingLemon · 15/02/2015 08:09

pikz I'm sorry this month has hit you hard. I know it feels really bad, but you will feel better in a few days. I know that doesn't help much because your situation won't have changed, but you'll feel much more able to cope with it.

Shall I give you an old wives tale to try out next month? Trying different things helps me get over the disappointment! (Is that crazy?)

My friend's grandmother said that if you struggle to conceive you should have sex at the very end of your period, regularly throughout the month, and then not in the last week before you're due. She swears by this and says she conceived her 5 (yes,5!) Kids that way. DTD on the last day of AF is key apparently and was well known where she grew up (not Europe).

I'm doing this next month! It's obviously crap, but she was so adamant. 'How you think I get my babies when I'm 40?! We have no test tubes!'

She's a bit scary anyway. I wouldn't put it past her to come in the bedroom and check. Grin

Morning everyone, welcome newbies!

Do we have any sperm morphology experts lurking here? Xx

MissMrsMummy · 16/02/2015 16:13

Hello all

similarboat glad your scan went ok. Good luck for your bloods and hope they give some answers.

Are you moving lemon? Hope it's going ok! Thanks for the tips! We DTD at the end of my period this time so fx it works!

muddy hope the time goes quickly for your next scan!

Really sorry pikz it really is hard isn't it Thanks

How are you sammy has your dp had a sa?

I have been to the GP today. She is referring me for an ultrasound and then next step is fertility clinic. She said nothing gets women preg quicker than a referral! So hopefully it will be the case for me.

loopylou1984 · 16/02/2015 18:27

Missmrs - I see your a lurker of several threads just like me Smile
Yes he's had 2 as the first one showed borderline morphology - the second one was in the normal range, but I think I'm going to ask gp to refer him for 1 more just to be certain. The rest of his numbers are good.

I've got my scan in April, do you know when yours is likely to be? Xx

St4rfish · 16/02/2015 19:38

Hooray Toes!!!! Am so pleased for you, great news. How are you feeling?
Good to hear from you as well Nelly, glad everything is ticking along nicely, although I'm sure the time between each scan/benchmark feels like an eternity.

Just marking my place on the new thread, so many new faces! Hello to you all. You may find this thread a bit slow as many of us are in the years of trying phase rather than months.

I am at clinic on Friday to pick up syringes and have my tutorial with the nurse, then first injection Sunday for IVF round 1. Itching to get started.

PS - jadecole, yes, get to the GP! If you are going down the NHS route, it takes forever, so don't hang about. It has taken me just over a year from seeking referral to the point of starting IVF for me. I've been TTC 4 years in total.

MissMrsMummy · 16/02/2015 20:39

Hello st4r best of luck for your clinic app't. I bet your can't wait to get the show on the road! I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing your updates.

Yes it is slower here than the buses but I can't keep up there at the moment and while everyone is getting excited, i feel like I'm bringing the mood down talking about GP referral etc!

sammy GP referred me today and I will get a letter with a date. I forgot to ask how long it might take (always forget important questions when at GP!) but if it's ages we might pay for one privately. When did you go to your GP and get referred?

loopylou1984 · 16/02/2015 20:58

Gp did the referral at the beginning of October and our first appointment was 20th December. But then following this he told us to try for another 4 months and we're not due back till end of April for ultrasound.
We've decided to wait until April but then pay for HyCoSy if it will be another long wait after that.

It really depends on where you are though, I've heard so many different time scales. Xx

loopylou1984 · 16/02/2015 20:59

Has your dp had SA? X

MissMrsMummy · 16/02/2015 21:21

So did you get referred to fertility clinic straight away? That is different then as I'm getting referred for scan first, then fertility clinic. I have no idea how long to expect then! Good plan to pay for next procedure if you have another lengthy wait. Obvs the hope is that you get pg in the meantime!

DH is booked for SA in a couple of weeks. Was meant to be today but we realised it would waste them in the middle of my cycle Wink

loopylou1984 · 16/02/2015 21:27

Yes, we had bloods and SA arranged through the doctor at 11 months and then she did the referral and it is the consultant at the hospital who has booked the scan.

Ah yes, I had to rearrange one of dhs for that same reason.

Well at least we can compare notes! And yes, obviously the hope is we're both pregnant before we need any treatment. X

MissMrsMummy · 16/02/2015 22:04

I see. Yes it will be helpful to compare notes! I will let you know when I get the letter x

loopylou1984 · 16/02/2015 22:11

Just a warning, my letter arrived on the Thursday before the appointment on the Monday, so only 4 days notice! Xx

MissMrsMummy · 16/02/2015 22:14

Gosh! Thanks for the warning Smile hopefully I'll get a bit more notice!

TheTravellingLemon · 17/02/2015 05:25

I moved! I can't sleep in this new house. It stinks of stale fags and dog. I can't wait to rip the carpet up and paint everything white!

DH has been up since 4! Poor man. I can hear him unpacking boxes downstairs.

It's nice not to think about babies for a bit though.

This is a totally new area for me so I might go for an explore later.Smile

loopylou1984 · 17/02/2015 06:44

Lemon how exciting! Lovely to have something else to focus on Smile

We had 2 weeks in our rented flat after we got the keys to the house so never had to live in it during to unpacking/box/decorating stage, I imagine it's chaos!

Missmrs, fingers crossed it was short notice because of Christmas or something. My ultrasound letter gave me 4 months notice so much better! Xx

Inasimilarboat · 17/02/2015 12:49

Sammylou is that just an ultrasound scan? Seems a very long wait.

I was referred on 13th January and had a letter the following week giving me an appointment for ultrasound on the 13th Feb. I could have had an earlier appointment if I was willing to go to a different hospital 15 miles away.

loopylou1984 · 17/02/2015 17:16

Well we saw the consultant in December and he wanted us to try for another 4 months as blood test results showed no issues. That's why the ultrasound scan is so far away. It seems to vary wildly from area to area though do who knows what's normal! Xx
