Hopefully you'll get a temp spike tomorrow Sammy.

Bit of a problem here....e-mailed Serum to say that I had sent my sample (as it says in the paperwork) and have had a reply saying that they are closed for the summer holiday until 1 September! I am really annoyed that this wasn't mentioned in the paper work or when I e-mailed at the end of July saying I wanted to do the testing. No idea whats going to happen to my sample.....the paperwork says it should be ok for a few weeks but even if it does get there, is ok and tested on the 1st then I don't think I'll have enough time to do the antibiotics if necessary.

lucieloos · 11/08/2015 16:53

Oh no sorry to hear that trixie. Mine took 10 days to arrive there but even then it would be a week and a bit until they open again. Maybe they still have people there dealing with mail and tests etc but not actually going IVF? I have penny's email address if you want to try and contact her. She is very good and will definitely still be checking her emails. She will probably sort something out for you.

Trixielilac11 · 11/08/2015 17:39

I paid to have it sent by courier (DH wasn't happy...) it will arrive on Thursday. I've had emails from two ladies there (on behalf of Penny) they just said to get in touch on 1st September to make sure my sample is there. I'm going to ask them to forward my email to Penny and hopefully she can do something.

lucieloos · 11/08/2015 19:35

That's good hope you can get it sorted trixie.

loopylou1984 · 11/08/2015 20:33

Trixie - that is so annoying! Why would they not tell you that?
Fingers crossed it comes back fine, and you won't need the antib's - but if you did, would your clinic give you something to delay af... I used to take something as a teenager if af was going to rock up on a holiday. Xx

Trixielilac11 · 11/08/2015 20:56

Doesn't sound like they'll be able to do anything. Apparently everything in Greece closes for the whole of August so even if someone is there to collect and process my sample they can't courier it to the lab and there'll be noone at the lab to test it. I've got no idea what's going to happen to the sample and whether it will still be ok on 1 September.
AF is next due on 6/7 September and will be delaying it a bit anyway so that transfer can be end of September - we're hoping for 28th. If sample ends up being no good then do we think about delaying for a month and sending another sample when it could well be negative? So tired of it all!

loopylou1984 · 11/08/2015 21:00

Oh Trixie. In my opinion, one failed cycle doesn't mean there's anything wrong. If I were you I think I would still go ahead as planned, even if you can't get the test done.

I do understand that you want to do everything you can to make it work though, so if you decided to delay treatment to complete the testing that would make sense to me to. Even though it would mean we couldn't be cycle buddies. Xx

lucieloos · 11/08/2015 21:24

Trixie you still have time. They told me the sample would be ok for a few weeks so I wouldn't worry about that side of it. Once they have the sample the turnaround time was pretty quick I'm talking like a few days. That still gives you enough time to take the antibiotics. When I first started mine I was due to start treatment. I had to stop taking the tablets the day before my transfer which meant I would only have completed 18 days out of 23 but I thought that was good enough. These are very strong antibiotics. I discussed it with penny and she said it should be fine. As it happened I cancelled that cycle because of my scan results so I was able to take the full course but I think if you could get a good couple of weeks worth in then better than nothing. You never know you might not even need them though.

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2015 08:28

Temp rise today, phew!
So about 3/4 days late. Probably be a 33 day cycle now, but at least I know! Xx

Trixielilac11 · 12/08/2015 10:46

Thanks ladies. I woke up early this morning with this on my mind and did some more googling. I came across a clinic in London that does some tests on menstrual blood. I'm not sure how I've not come across this before.... I am not sure they are as indepth as the Serum ones but it does hidden C, ureaplasmas and mycoplasmas.
I called the courier company first thing and they have already managed to get my sample back to me. It was going to be on a flight to Athens today. At least I know where it is now and can keep it in the fridge. The courier company were really good and said that they could refund half of the fee since it didn't go all the way to the destination or that they will resend it for me for 1 September for free so that's something.
Just need to decide whether to resend it or go with the London clinic.

Yay for temp rise Sammy.
Not long until your next scan now Lucie!

Trixielilac11 · 12/08/2015 11:36

Update- spoke to the place in London and turns out they send the samples to Greece too so if I go with them I have to pay more and then won't get the results any sooner. Looks like I am going to have to wait until the end of August and send the sample back then to arrive on 1 September.

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2015 19:49

Trixie - sorry your new plan didn't come to anything. Xx

Trixielilac11 · 12/08/2015 20:03

Sammy I ended up getting the details of the lab the samples get sent to and have emailed them directly so there is still hope of test before 1st Sept. It's funny, the lady at the London didn't know anything about the lab closing in August.

Lucie, how are you feeling? Will be checking in for your update tomorrow.

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2015 20:30

Oooh that's good news Smile
Fingers crossed it all works out. Xx

loopylou1984 · 12/08/2015 20:31

Maybe they run a skeleton staff over the summer or something.

Xx

lucieloos · 12/08/2015 21:31

Thanks trixie, I'm not feeling too bad at the moment but will probably be super nervous in the morning! Hope you manage to get your tests sorted. Are you doing the hidden c and the life code 7 in 1 tests? The only problem with going to the lab direct is that if you do need a prescription for antibiotics then you may not be able to get that from serum.

coribeth · 12/08/2015 23:49

Thought I'd join you ladies and share experiences I'm 39 and have three childre(21,19 +17) with XH but have been TTC for 3years with absolutely no joy went to Gp who was actually a gynae who was totally useless and kept telling me to DTD with pillow under backside needless to say saw the light changed doctors to fantastic Gp who referred us straight away OH sent for SA whilst I had bloods to check ovulation bloods fine SA showed low motility although the consultant said this was minimal as motility of 30 and norm apparently 32! My CD's ranged from 28-35 so sent off for hycosy nothing much to report there they said my ovaries are quite far back not sure if that was a problem or she was just passing comment! Anyway to regulate cycle and improve egg quality consultant has started me on Clomid first day was horrific about 20mins post dose I had really bad palpitations, hot flushes, dizzy, faint, splitting headache I'm a nurse so not prone to panic but actually considered calling ambulance I felt so bad fortunately heart rate settled down after about five minutes and dizziness and faint spell subsided headache however finally gave up this morning 3days later! was pretty much pooping my pants about taking the second one but was advised to take at night this time and what a difference no palpitations bit dizzy but ok as in bed and few hot flushes took third pill tonight and pleased to report not a single side affect woo hoo! Had a CD 2 scan yesterday and I have 5 'start up follicles' on one side nothing on the other not entirely sure what that means as when I asked questions the nurse was less than helpful and said we'll have to wait and see what your CD10 scan shows ah well fingers crossed folks!

Trixielilac11 · 13/08/2015 10:14

Still nothing back from the lab so not looking too helpful. I guess if I can get the tests done with them direct then I will have to wait until 1 September to get a prescription from Serum or try my GP here though it takes ages to get an appointment. Or maybe my clinic here would be able to prescribe it for me. Yep, going for the 7 in 1 test. Which one was it that came back positive for you Lucie? (if you don't mind me asking!) Good luck today!

It looks like I'll have to end up sending the sample back to Serum to arrive on the 1st and hope that I can get the results quickly and that they are negative! I'm going to mention it to my clinic at my nurses appointment next week and see if there is flexibility to delay a cycle if necessary. So complicated.

Welcome to the thread Coribeth. I don't really know anything about clomid, those side affects sound scary but good to hear they have settled down. Good luck with your 10 day scan.

Trixielilac11 · 13/08/2015 14:10

Just got an e-mail from the lab in Athens, can send my sample there direct Smile

Any news yet Lucie?

lucieloos · 13/08/2015 14:30

That's good news trixie!

I had the scan and confirmed that I definitely don't like that lady! There were 4 on each side on my first scan. She had a quick look today and says I can see one on the right and 2 on the left. I started panicking and said I can't believe this has happened again and they have disappeared. Dh said don't panic and said can you have another look. So she has another look on the left can't see anything, pushes down on my stomach and said oh there's a few hiding behind your bowel so she found the 4 on the left. Went back on the right side and even I could see there were clearly 3 there. She couldn't see another one though but I don't trust her judgement at all. When we came out dh said the reason he said not to panic was when she said she could only see one on the right he could clearly see 2 or 3 there so knew that what she had said wasn't correct. He doesn't think she measured them very well either and said he wouldn't be surprised if they are actually a couple of mm bigger than she has said. I was frantic when she said only 3 as we would have had to cancel again. I am happier with 7 but some of them are still quite small unless she hasn't measures them right as some are now smaller than day 7?! On day 7 I had...

L: 10,9,8,7
R: 10,10,10,6

And today I have..

L: 15,14,12,10
R: 15,9,8

So the left side all appear to be there and have grown but there's one missing from the right and the 9mm was probably a 10mm on day 7 so not sure what is going on there.

I emailed my Czech Dr who wanted to trigger me on Saturday but I feel like this is too soon and won't really give the smaller ones time to catch up enough. The 15mm aren't that big and I'm sure they would be ok for a few more days. We have agreed I will have another scan at the Czech clinic on Saturday morning and then decide on trigger from there. So as it is I'm off to Czech tomorrow. I don't really have a great feeling about it all but it doesn't look like my body will produce a lot more so will have to go and see.

Trixielilac11 · 13/08/2015 14:43

How stressful Lucie! Thank goodness your DH was with you. Brilliant that you are flying out tomorrow and that you will be able to have a scan at your clinic there before deciding when to trigger. I know that the day I triggered I had several follicles around the 19mm mark and was aiming for 9 from the sizes then but ended up with more so the others must have caught up, I'm sure yours will.

loopylou1984 · 13/08/2015 18:05

Trixie - that's great news Smile

Lucie - what? And this is private care? I would definitely complain! But maybe wait until after you've got your baby!
Exciting about flying out to Czech! Fx for you Smile Xx

loopylou1984 · 13/08/2015 18:07

And welcome Cori - goodness your experience of Clomid sound horrible, glad the symptoms have stopped!

I've never had clomid, but have heard lots of good stories on here. When are you expected to ovulate? Xx

spinningirl10 · 13/08/2015 19:34

Just popping in to wish Lucie lots of luck in Czech. So sorry about the nurse in the clinic, what a disgrace. I would definitely complain at some point. I've got everything crossed for you xx

lucieloos · 13/08/2015 20:13

Thanks both, I just feel really disappointed about it now that I am home. It looks like 2 of the 10mm ones that I had on day 7 and that should now be 15mm have disappeared again. It seems to happen to me every time and I just don't understand it and I don't know anybody else that it happens to. Realistically I think it looks like I will only collect 4 eggs which is not good. So fed up of it all.
